With the economic decline and increase in fuel prices, my husband and I chose to explore Honda vehicles. We visited several dealerships in the surrounding area, but none had the personality of Hagerstown Honda. Our first purchase from Hagerstown Honda was a 2008 Civic which my husband rolled after four months. He sustained only a bruise from the airbag. Thereby we decided to again purchase a Honda. When we returned to Hagerstown Honda to replace that vehicle, we also purchased a Pilot Touring. We have returned to Hagerstown Honda numerous times for oil changes and Brandon, our salesman, always greets us at the door. Other employees as well, call us by name when we go into the dealership. Although I've never met the employees in the service department, I love the fact that I don't need to make an appointment for an oil change and that the wait is very minimal. We live two hours from the dealership and this makes for excellent customer service. Additional the service department keeps track of my maintenance schedule. Over the last two years, we've put many miles on the Touring and have just recently replaced both the Pilot and Civic with the 2011 models. We have recommended Hagerstown Honda to numerous individuals. We are loving our Hondas and more importantly, loving Hagerstown Honda, the service department, and our salesman, Brandon Fisher.

I was tired of getting beat up and frustrated fighting car salesmen. So with my last car, I decided that I was going to do some research and figure out how to get the upper hand on them. I went to Edmunds.com and read this article: http://www.edmunds.com/advice/buying/articles/42962/article. htmlI bought my vehicle by emailing dealerships for the lowest price. I got a great car at a great price....below invoice. So I was going to do the same for my second car and sent an email to each. Here is what I sent:***********I have contacted the closest 13 Honda Dealerships in Maryland. Just like my previous vehicle purchases, I?m going to buy this vehicle online. Whoever provides me with the lowest ?walk-out-the-door? price for the vehicle that I?m looking for, and has the vehicle in stock, gets the business. If you are interested in sending me a price, here is what I?m looking for:2006 Honda Odyssey - EX 4dr Minivan (3.5L 6cyl 5A)- Color: Silver Pearl Metallic with Gray Interior- Current Lowest Price: $24200Please present me with your lowest ?Walk-out-the-door? price. I do not have enough time to go multiple rounds of price negotiations with each company. So send me your lowest the first time. I do plan on purchasing a vehicle within 2 business days. So please provide me a price as soon as possible. Lastly, I want to make sure that you understand that I don?t want to purchase any additional F&I and I want to know exactly what price I?m going to pay to walk out the door with you vehicle to include any and all charges. I want this to be clear as I don?t want to waste anyone?s time including my own. To be fair, if the price is changed when I arrive to sign papers, I will go to the next lowest priced company.*******Here is the response I received immediately from this dealership:*****We do not wish to play the "price war game". Please remove us from your list. Thank you.Heidi DeShongBusiness Development ManagerHagerstown Honda/Kia/Pre-owned1-800-800-4727 x137heidi@hagerstownhonda.com*****What I enjoyed was the fact that I didn't want to play in their court and I didn't want to play in mine. As soon as they went up against an educated consumer, who spent some time researching on the Internet, and wanted the best price, they backed off. Chances are they know they aren't the lowest in price and they want to use cut-throat practices on people to get money from suckers. I wanted to share this so that others may avoid this kind of dealership and to hopefully help the next person looking for a lower car price.

PROS: None
CONS: They don't want people to have a chance against their sales people

We visited here recently when looking for our newest vehicle. We were happy with the service and customer support we received, although, like most Honda dealers, they have an inflated image of themselves which resulted in not getting the price we wanted. We ended up purchasing somewhere else but they did have the best stock and nicest salespeople around.
