I've made my last visit. My family has gone to The Stockpot for over 20 years. Through changes in employees and management, this place is not what it used to be. Last night, I received the worst cut of meat I have ever had. It was not cooked correctly. The bread is now garbage. And they've replaced good salads with ""The Wedge""....Yuck! Goodbye Stockpot.

I recently attended a friend's rehersal dinner in their patio tent. The decorations were beautiful and the view of the golf course was amazing! Very impressed.

My family took me to brunch at the Stockpot last sunday after we played a round at Redtail. I didn't know what to expect, but I certainly wasn't expecting to have prime rib carved in front of me while my custom omlet was being cooked! The buffet had something for everyone: my wife loved the steelhead and eggs benedict while the kids ate waffles and bacon, and too much cake. Thanks for a wonderful meal!

I had the privilege of eating an incredibly juicy and delicious burger while feeling as though I was the only customer in the place due to the exceptional service and friendly staff.

I am visiting from Colorado and my Mom flew in from Massachusetts. We took our kids and grand kids to the Stockpot and were very disappointed in the service. The food was good and the prices were reasonable, however the service will keep me from returning. \n\nOur waiter forgot to bring two beverages that we ordered and failed to bring the Tabasco that we requested. Our waiter also forgot to refill my coffee until I asked a second time. \n\nAdditionally, for a restaurant that was featured by Wine Spectator we were surprised that when we asked for a selection of sparkling wines, the only thing offered was a $3.50 glass of champagne. We we asked a second wait person for the selection, he indicated that a $3.00 glass of champagne was the only one available. Not impressive.

Within the past few months I have been to the Stockpot Broiler during evening hours on the weekend. Service was great even during the busier times. \n\nI started coming to the Stockpot based on recommendation.\n\nNever again will I go back. My first visit I noticed a drunk customer ordering staff around and being overall unimaginative and somewhat embarrassing. This experience was written off, some people have their moment in public and can't control themselves. No big deal.\n\nIt was hard not to notice this person every visit to the Stockpot. It was either the video poker area or the bar, the more wine consumed the louder she got. Very strange and uncomfortable to say the least. I will not be back.

Pros: Golf,

Cons: Please read

The Stockpot is my favorite 19th holes! I play a lot of golf around town but I always love going to Redtail because no matter how I play that day the service and food at Stockpot are incredible.\n\nI always try to make the happy hour because the cheese burger can't be beat! Its a big burger served with chips and its $4 are you kidding me? The variety is what I like most. Our foursome will come in and we always mix it up and get a nacho, egg rolls, or the beef satay.\n\nI have missed the happy hour before and was stuck having a big thick cut of the prime rib. My friends had Mahi fish tacos, prime rib dip sandwich, and the chicken with waffles! All of our non happy hour items were under $15 and a good amount of food!

My family and I went to the Stockpot Broiler for my parents anniversary, their favorite spot, and was I surprised.\nWhat a remarkable establishment, from the service to the menu. I had the lamb rack with a carrot puree and lamb sweetbreads, wonderful!! My wifes scallops were something else, cooked perfectly. My parents stayed with what they know steak and the pepper steak looked fabulous as did the Tuscan tenderloin. This was defiantly not what I expected when we drove up to their spacious parking lot, hey free parking for that downtown experience.

OMG. Easter Brunch there was the absolute pits. The food was literally cold and gross! The buffet is warmed on the bottom by hot water, but the eggs and potatoes were still cold, even the stuff they had just put out. The sausage was rubbery. Decent prime rib, but that was it. The salad had so much dressing, it was like soup. The waffles were cold. When I mentioned the cold food to our server, i was told to go into the next room and tell the chef about it! Isn't that the server's job? Then they put out more food and it was also cold. They have some nerve charging $21.95 per person for such garbage!

Cons: terrible terrible food, overpriced too

The Stockpot has a nice variety on their menu and you really can't go wrong with anything you select. One of my favorites is the prime rib and I'm not a big beef eater. The lamb is another dish I'd recommend and you can never go wrong with any of their seafood dishes. The crab cakes and stuffed mushrooms are both great starters and don't forget to save room for dessert. Their creme brule is to die for! Their wait staff is very attentive and the view of the golf course is probably the best in Beaverton. I've been there numerous times and have always been delighted!

I attended a company banquet recently and was astounded at the bad attitude all but a few of the servers displayed from the beginning of the evening. It was very apparent that they did not want to be there. The private bar tender was abrasive and short and a few of the servers looked like they were ""one something."" I witnessed one of the servers knock my jacket off of the back of my chair, then walk all over it almost tripping...no effort to pick it up . I would have to say that for the price of hosting an event at The Stockpot Broiler, we expected better.

My girlfriend and I went to Stockpot Broiler last week after a friend of ours who works there finally got us off the beaten path to go visit her. We live almost in St. Johns, so it's not easy to get us on to Portland's ""suburban side."" Wow, we were missing out. Their HH menu is packed with good eats, probably about 10-15 choices, and well drinks less than $3?! On a golf course?! They've got a full bar, I think 5 or 6 beers on draft, and pretty damn good food. We ordered 4 HH plates, my lady had 2 cocktails and I had 2 drafts, and got out of there for less than $25. I know you can get $1 PBR anywhere in Portland, but for the view we had from our table (18th hole) and the overall feel of the place, I'm sold on this HH. In terms of it being far away, if you know how to navigate a freeway it really isn't that far from anything. 217 gets you there, and 5/405 to 26W coming from N Portland is a sure way. So our friend had just gotten off shift and wasn't our server, but the girl we had was super cool and totally attentive, and the other girls looked like they were happy to be there, sometimes an anomaly in Portland's service industry. It was pretty jammin when we were in there actually. The day HH is from 4-6, and they also do it from 9-close! I consider myself a HH enthusiast, and this one is totally worth the drive for what a great time we had. I think this may be one of Beaverton's best kept HH secrets from the suburb-shy Portlandites...shouldn't be though! Good times! Happy HH everyone!!

Pros: cheap drinks/food, friendly staff

Cons: why aren't you on your way here?!?!?!

My girlfriend and I have been here 3 or 4 times and we have had a great time each trip. The staff is friendly, and the scenery at Red Tail Golf course is beautiful. The food is also outstanding; everything I have ordered has been excellent. Try the lobster bisque!

This used to be a great place (considering location) to have a nice, dressed up meal, posh service and great wine. The only thing that remains the same is the location. \r\nMost of the patrons here have been eating here since the 1980's or 1990s and probably have fond memories of how they used to be: great. But not so much anymore.\r\n\r\nIt's not terrible, but for the price...it's just not worth it. Steaks are huge, but not tender. Food it tasty, but nothing out of this world or new/innovative.\r\n\r\n

I can't believe how rude the service was. Worst I've ever experienced. Tried to raise the issue with management but she was just as rude if not worse. \r\n\r\nI won't be returning. Ever.\r\n

\r\n\r\nThe decor definitely fits the underlying theme, Seafood, Seafood, and more Seafood! The dining rooms are very intimate and set a romantic mood. This will remain one of my favorite fine dining establishments for years to come.\r\n\r\nThe food here is outstanding. Not once have I had my fish cooked wrong; White fish are perfectly prepared and not overdone, the salmon is perfectly cooked.\r\n\r\nThe wait staff is friendly and attentive, wine list is HUGE.\r\n\r\nThis is a great venue for a date or special occasion.\r\n\r\n

The entrees are often wonderful, good enough that I'm ok with the steep pricing. But the dining room smells like cigarette smoke, and the reception staff can been snooty. For the most part, the servers are quite good. The location is convenient for me, and I keep wishing I to bring myself to be a regular....

The stockpot is one best kept secrets of Portland! \r\n\r\nWe stumbled across it on accident during a visit and since moving here it has quickly become our favorite. Some people may find the location to be a little obscure, but once you get inside none of that matters. The staff is very helpful, the dining area is very romantic and the food is to die for!

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants years ago. I don't know what happened, but last time we went there the food was absolutely terrible, all the way from appetizers, through main course to dessert. We were 6 people in the party so we got to try various things. Nothing was edible. Seafood was overcooked and steaks were of a very sub standard quality. One of the party ordered something from the menu that described the item as lobster. When the really bland piece of fish arrived, the explanation was that the fish was piached in lobster juice! What a rip-off! On top of that one in our party found sharp glass pieces in the salad and had to go to the emergency room with several cuts in the mouth. When the owner was contacted later there was no concern showed at all. And when the credit card bill was almost $200 not including any drinks, I was really steaming. I would never go back there again and in fact, I'll tell anybody who will listen not to eat here.

We live fairly close by and play golf here regularly. We decided to get drinks one night in the bar (vs the actual Stockpot Restaurant) after hitting golfballs one night. We were pleasantly surprised and have decided its our new favorite place. The service and drinks have always been excellent, but the food is outstanding. The guys always get the hamburger/cheeseburger and its come out perfectly cooked just the way they ask for it, every single time. The beef satay with asian coleslaw and onion rings with wasabi aioli are also great. The comment from the other reviewer about the golf clubs...well um last time I checked it was a golf course. I don't think this detracts from the great food or service. We haven't had a bad experience yet and we have been going about once a week.

I chose to go to the restaurant based on its high mark for most romantic, which I found to be stretched. As my wife and I pulled into the parking area we immediately saw the golf bags pulled up to the front door from some guys enjoying the 19th hole. Hmmm strike 1! We walked in and were promptly seated; it was the middle up the week though. We quickly noticed that we were the youngest people in the place and it had a smell about it that reminded me of old lady perfume mixed with a stale casino. Strike 2! As we looked over the menu we were happy with the selections and the wine menu was very extensive which was also a perk. As our service began we started to see things unfold and the disappointment set in. The server was not familiar with the liquors available in the bar. Of course there was the standard "" I've only been here a few weeks"". When the food finally arrived it was not as impressive as the menu had led us to believe. The sauce on the veal tasted burnt and the seafood in the boulliabase was not absolutely fresh. The service was painfully slow and eventually we set our credit card on the table as a hint that we were ready to go. Strike 3, we're out of here. Overall, the wine list was comprehensive and the menu promissing, but this place needs and update. If they're aiming to please the retirement community then fine, but definately NOT in the top 10 for the most romantic spot .

I feel that the Stockpot is one of the most underrated restaurants in Portland. I have never had a bad experience in the many years of dining here. The service is always friendly and excellent. The restaurant over looks the RedTail golf course. You can watch golfers play their approach shots into the 18th green. I like coming here for lunch during nice summer days and dining outside. Their lamb, prime rib and halibut dishes are all top notch.

The food is always awesome but they have a server working there that makes me not go back. I'm not sure if he is always under the influence of something or what but something is not right with him. It's bad enough that more than once I've chosen another restaurant over the Stockpot (even though it's where I really want to go) just so I don't run the risk of having him wait on me.

Off the beaten path, but really worth it. My husband and I are regulars. GREAT food, and very efficient, friendly service. If you don't want to pay the $$ for dinner or don't have reservations, the non-smoking bar is a very pleasant alternative with the same nice view of the golf course that the main dining room has. The prime rib is covered with a sauce, but it's excellent. The lamb is to die for. We have never had a dish here that disappointed us.

I've been dining at the Stockpot for many years and have yet to find fault in this terrific eatery. The food is delicious, especially the apple stuffed brie, the prime rib, the lamb, the scalloped potatoes, and the creme brulee. Though the lighting is more dim than I prefer, the view is very nice and the service is excellent. The staff seems to go above and beyond to meet the customers' needs even for young adults, which is something I don't often come by as a young adult. If you're in the area I suggest eating here where you will find quality food and service without the ridiculously long wait like so many of the restaurants at the nearby washington square mall have. This restaraunt is wonderful for special occasions, my family and I have personally spent many birthdays, graduations, and anniversaries dining here!

Went here with three other friends last Sunday. We were the first to be seated for the morning and while there were plenty of wait and hostess staff around and in full view, AND we were the only ones in the restaurant at the time, we seemed to be invisible. In fact, the couple that was seated ten minutes after us were served first. Waitress showed up only after she was called over and clearly was not happy about it. When the food finally showed up it was extremely inconsistent. I had the eggs benedict. One of the poached eggs was severly underdone - very runny white -and the other was severly OVERdone - hardboiled to say the least. This place was just not worth the frustration, hassle, attitude, and price tag. I would happily NOT recommend this as even a good dining experience.

Pros: View of the golf course

Cons: Wait staff with attitude, Cook needs more training on consistency

Went to Stockpot last week and was dissapointed. Met up with 2 friends who had already ordered their food. My salad was decent, a bit overdressed. The server informed me the chef was having problems making the sauce to go with my fish, and also told us he had a few choice words to say about it. I do not want to hear this at a 5 star restaurant. It was obvious she had screwed up the order and blamed the chef. To make up for the mistake, she gave us free dessert. That of course was a nice gesture, but please next time own up to your mistake. Dont blame the chef, customers dont like to pay top prices for substandard service.

Although their formal dining room offers a much more lavish and delicious menu with more variety, we prefer to sit in the lounge area of the restaurant for their fabulous happy hour menu on weeknights. There is a wide range of items on the menu and you just can't beat the quality for the price any where else in town! Everything on the menu is delicious. The only complaint I can make is that sometimes the food can be inconsistent (ie, the cheese on the nachos was not completely melted the last time I was there). The $2.75 well drinks and micros are also a big incentive to avoid the fancy dining room and just relax and enjoy the good food and savings in the bar! The staff is always friendly and attentive. My friends and I will continue to go at least once every week!

Pros: Great happy hour food and service! Best Lobster Bisque Ever!

Cons: The quality of food can be inconsistent on occasion but only rarely.

This restaurant has a wonderful staff and a great atmosphere. My wife and I like to enjoy a good meal as often as possible and the Stockpot is always on top of the game. The service is warm and freindly with all the class of a gourmet restaurant. I have intertained clients on occassion and have found the steaks to be of the highest quality and prepared to perfection. My wife loves the seafood side of the menu where the selection is always alluring. All and all I would recommend the STOCKPOT BROILER to anyone. Check it out for yourself, you'll see.

The service is still excellent, and perhaps the best part of the place.\r\n\r\nThe steaks are overcooked and tough. The fish is lacking in taste and dry. The lamb though still good, isn't quite what it was a year or two ago.\r\n\r\nTheir salads are still very good. Their Bisque and onion soup are still some of the best in town, but the desserts are no longer as good as they once were.\r\n\r\nWhat a shame. They were on top of the list just a year or two ago, and now are very close to mediocre.

We recently had our company Christmas Party here. They have the best prime rib that I have ever tasted. We will be back.

The Stockpot Broiler is a traditional restaurant, with nice portions and pricing to be expected for a steak-house. The appetizer menu was a good read, and worth trying at least one. We had the Apple / Gorgonzola stuffed brie wrap which was presented well, also tasted good. Although the menu had a wilted spinach salad it was unavailable at the time we went (remember when spinach was pulled off the shevles), so we opted for the classic Ceaser which worked at second choice. My order of New York steak was delicious -- 2nd time round. Since I like my meat medium well, the steak wasn't cooked to order, it was rare. And this was a first for me, since I've never been one to send anything back. It took a long time to get our order as well. Not sure why. The waitress also came back to our table to ask what we had ordered, since she said that she forgot. She also forgot to bring us a requested beverage and we had to remind her during our meal. For these prices, the service should have been much better.

If you're golfing or already here for some reason, then by all means stop in for some grub. Otherwise, this eatery is not worth the trip. Definitely not better than the chains close to Washington Square. For a town full of authentic eateries, this country-club style restaurant doesn't impress.

This place reminds me of where 1970's business men met for lunch, smoked a few cigs and then a few rounds of golf. Think dark wood, everywhere.\r\nStaff if very inconsistent - from inexperienced new folk to older excellent servers. Food is also what you would expect, good but very heavy. My guess is this is a spot for regulars who have been working in and around Tigard-Beaverton for years, not someplace you would take a date.\r\nI find their salads are excellent, especially the chicken caeser.

I didn't like it at all. We went on a slow weeknight and the place was empty (that should have been a clue). However, that didn't prevent the servers from ignoring us. I won't be back.

We took out of town guests knowing they would be impressed. Four different entrees were ordered , no disappointments . Steaks came exactly as ordered . The wine list is impressive to say the least . If you have room don""t miss dessert. To sum up :great place to have a leisurely meal in a restaurant that never misses the mark .

Last week I was visiting Portland on business and I wanted to impress my clients with a nice meal in a town I hadn't explored yet. Lost for where to take them I inquired with the concierge at my hotel and without hesitation The Stockpot Broiler was at the top of the list. On their word, I made the reservations and hoped for the best. What we got was more then just tremendous service in a beautiful country club setting and a five star meal I wont soon forget...We left wishing a Stockpot Broiler was in every town we traveled to! Our server was exceptional and her level of professionalism was first class. The suggestions she made for our meal and wine were pared beautifully and to top the night off she brought the chef over to introduce himself to our table! I don't often write reviews for establishments I visit on business but this experience was so close to perfect that I wanted to extend a heartfelt ""Thank you"" in a way that truly expressed my gratitude. If only I could impress my clients on every coast with a sure thing like The Stockpot Broiler. Thanks again for your exceptional hospitality and a fabulous night out!

This restaurant is awesome! We had seafood and steak for dinner and it was very well prepared and presented. Our service was great as always... we can always count on the freshest foods and nice cuts of meats. This is a very classy place to take the entire family anytime of year! Hands down this place rocks the house.

They should change the name of this place to ""The Salt Lick.""\n\nI'm one of those people who generally adds salt to everything--but I learned years ago to taste first. Alas, that did no good here. I tatsed, added nothing, and simply could not eat this food. Which is a shame, because the steak was obviously a good cut of meat.\n\nBy Portland standards, service was okay--which is to say, inattentive but not totally absent. \n\nThe ambience isn't great--it's basically one big room done up to seem sort of elegant. But there's no privacy, and it's loud.\n\nPrices would be fine, if the food were good. But we won't go back.

We orginally posted this: ""If you love good food and an excellent wine list, don't give this a miss."" True, the food remains consistent, but the wine list has deteriorated. They used to offer local as well as international top quality wines for a reasonable mark-up, but no more. Now it's plonk, not worth a QPR. They still have a few nice wines in their cellar, but they have jacked up the price that's ridiculous. Sorry, we aren't that impressed. The service is ok and the food is good, but we miss the old wine selection. \r\nOh, and you have to ask for proper stemware, they seem to have an endless supply of Libby type stems and they are horrific.

Located on the golf course, it has a good veiw if you like to watch the 19 hole. the food is very good and the portion is good although not huge. Who needs huge? Service was super, parking was aplenty. Nother really to complain about. I have eaten there for years and never been disappionted.

Upon entering the Stockpot, we were a little disappointed because it seemed like so many banquet-hall type restaurants that you can find all across America. We heard that the ambiance was great but were not that impressed (it is, after all, a restaurant on a golf course).\nHowever, we were fairly pleased with the food (from appetizer through dessert) and were incredibly impressed with the service. It's been a long time since I have been in a restaurant that has a number of ""older"" waiters who seem to be a throwback to the days of old when service was #1 important. Throw in a little humourous banter and it really adds to the overall dining experience. We ordered wine and champagne with the meal and were shocked that the bill seemed so low--but we have thought that about everything since we moved here from NYC. We will definitely go back.

I went here on a whim and it was a wonderful place the sticker price is shocking but well worth it. The food was wonderful and so was the service. my only complaint was that you have to make a reservation to get any kind of decent seating but all in all the place is wonderful.

I am so confused how anyone could enjoy this restaurant. Perhaps we just went on an extremely off night, but it was like dining in a sterile lab. There was no atmosphere to speak of and the food was dry and tasteless. I actually found myself wishing at one point to spit the food out rather than finish the piece of fish I had placed in my mouth, so offensive was the food. The sea bass had no moisture and was on a bed of similarly tasteless and dry rice. The crab salad had three shrimp, three scallops, and a bit of crab with a lot of mayonnaise and a TONNN of lettuce....but no dressing, sauce, etc. The servers were all so very friendly and it is unfortunate that such kind people are serving such bland and dreary food.
