I am a college professor and I have had an account with TCF for over 20 years and had to recently move out of state due to a family illness. The bank would not work with me as I was "out of state" despite the direct deposit I have provided them for all these years. Now a monthly fee. I am so out of there. Rude customer service. When you walk in they have an attitude that is unbelievable and are just out to get your money. Huge issue for me as well as you can NOT call the branch and talk to someone there. Really bad manager there too. The did have a good manager before but that went by the way side as well. bottom line...TCF is Bad Bad Bad,. from alll sides!!!!!

I am from Taiwan. I lived in U.S.A from Sep. 1993 to Jun. 1995 for study in University of Minnesota.

In 1995, I moved back to my home country Taiwan. My TCF account had more than one hundred US dollars while I left USA in 1995. However, TCF started to charge me so-called Monthly Maintenance Fee $9.95 from year 2010 (it's 15 years later since I started no access to TCF). At first, I thought I would lose at most the amount of money that I had in my TCF account. But I found I am too naive to think it that way because TCF keeps taking my money and change my account balance from positive to negative -- and still keep taking my money away month after month without an ending. It doesn??t make sense at all since I have had no access to my TCF acount since year 1995 (that's 16 years ago). How can TCF start to charge me "Monthly Maintenance Fee" 15 years later and put me in debt? I owe nothing to TCF and TCF put me in debt in an unacceptable way. What could I do to stop it?

This bank is terrible. They lie and deceive people by encouraging you to open "free" accounts, and then by charging fees that they NEVER tell you about. This particular branch has a problem with customer service, and everyone that I've dealt with has been extremely rude and patronizing. It's even worse than the other branches.

The manager doesn't like to reverse fees (even if they are the bank's fault) and she doesn't have very a very good grasp of what she's doing. Completely clueless about bank products. The manager before her had excellent customer service skills, but everything has gone completely down the tubes since she left.

Seriously, with as many options as you've got out there this should be the LAST bank that you'd want to trust with your money with.
