I had a great round of golf last Friday at Whispering Pines. The course is in great shape even with the recent dry spell. The course winds through trees and swamp areas. You need to choose your clubs and directions carefully to avoid high scores. The green were in fantastic shape. You cannot have a better value to play golf, low rates for play and cart, excellent course, and great service by the staff.

I had a nice round of golf at Whispering Pines. Most of the holes require a smart club choice off the tee box and a good second shot. With mature trees it is difficult to cut corners, but is very scenic. The best feature of this course are the greens. They are cut well and provide true rolls. Be sure to read each green very carefully. If you do not read them well it may cost you strokes. If you like to walk, it is an easy course to walk. There were not too many steep hills or long distances between holes.

Finally returned to the course after I said I would never return becuase of the horrible shape it was in last year. But a buddy talked me into returning and said that there are new owners. I gotta tell ya this is the GEM Course of the area. Although the course does not have a luxuriuos club house which didnt mean to much to me as I am there to golf. The Greens are the best in the area.

Had a chance to play this course as part of the Twin Cities Golf website promotion yesterday. While it is out in Annandale (an hour drive for me) I found the track to be an interesting challenge as it wound in and out of the woods and rolling hills just east of town. Despite the dry weather this summer the greens were in top shape and rolled very well and held some long approach shots.Favorite holes were #8 - pick a safe shot or go for it - (dog right, uphill, fade around some big trees) or any of the 3 par 5's on the back 9. It's in the country so don't expect big city, but enjoy oaks, willows and Whispering Pines.

Whispering Pines is an excellent course. The rates are very reasonable and they offer special deals on carts.
