This is the first experience that has prompted me to write a review EVER. I had 2 RED silk knit sweaters cleaned here. When I returned home with them, I found tons of BLACK sweater "pills" all over it, and some chemical stains on one. It looked worse than if I had thrown it in my washing machine! One I was able to lint roll off the pills, the other had fabric that the pills wouldn't come off as easily. I brought it back, and they redid the sweater, well sort-of. When I came to pick it up, there was tons of pills on the inside; they had just bothered to pick the outside pills off. They also managed to snag the sweater (only worn once ever before the cleaning and snag-free). When I inquired about refunding the cost of cleaning the sweater, the manager got angry at me and accused me of having caused the snags and the stain. He also sarcastically said, "sorry, we didn't think to clean the inside!" Well, they put them there in the first place, since it was clearly a different color than the sweater. Finally he agreed to credit me for the cleaning, and when I told him I wasn't ever returning and that I wanted cash, he slammed some cash on the counter and said "there!"

AFTER THAT EXPERIENCE, I'M DEFINITELY NEVER RETURNING THERE AGAIN.

On the morning of Oct 22nd, I dropped off 5 shirts, a pair of trousers and a suit for same day dry cleaning and ironing. After collecting the garments at 6:15 PM, I noted that they had not been cleaned nor pressed. The shirts were crumpled and creased and had clearly not been ironed. I returned to the store at 7:30 PM and when I brought this to the notice of Tim (an employee), he refused to acknowledge the lack of ironing and did not honor a refund. When I
pointed out that the clothes looked worse that when they were dropped off, he just gave me the manager's name and phone #. The employee was extremely rude and disinterested in resolving the issue. When contacted, the manager sent me an email filled with hostility, character defamation and a complete distortion of the facts of the event. Please avoid this establishment at all costs...they will cheat you

I have been a customer of Carolina Cleaners for over 4 years with minimal problems. However, they recently lost one of my most important dress shirts and they're acting incredibly unprofessionally and, I believe, unethically. It has been 3 weeks (during which I had a job interview and needed the shirt - they knew this and still didn't care) and they have only returned one of my numerous calls. I was originally promised they would buy me a new shirt but recently one of their managers said they were only offering a depreciated value for the shirt. Depreciated value??? You have got to be joking. I have repeatedly asked to talk with Charlie Nelson, who supposedly manages the business. However, he has failed to call me back and always seems to be missing when I actually reach someone. If this is how they treat a loyal customer, think about how they treat someone new.

Although it never bothered me, they have also had a high rate of turnover and are constantly looking for new hires to work in their stores. The employees I have interacted with have ranged from terrible to great, but no one stays around. I think this probably says something about the management and operation of the business.

I have recently filed a complaint against Carolina Cleaners regarding their handling of my lost dress shirt. This is just an awful business when something goes wrong with your clothes. Save yourself the risk of a bad experience and go to one of the many other cleaners in Chapel Hill.

This is with out a doubt the most unprofessional businesses in the triangle of North Carolina.
Charlie Nelson of Carolina Cleaners has been a very sarcastic rude and unprofessional person. Earlier this year I had a very disastrous series of events take place after a single dry cleaning, which was my first and only trip to this merchant. I have been advised by many to follow through with a civil suit after listening to my concerns and seeing documented ruined and destroyed property by Carolina Cleaners. Namely Charlie Nelson. His dry cleaning services leave much to be desired. A business that does not post any prices and does not communicate their prices when asked of which I have been warned after the fact by others, until you pick up your order so they my choose what to charge you according to the discount they may offer at the time or the coupon you may TRY to present at the time of pick up. Be weary they do not accept coupons after you drop off the clothes. HUMMMMMMM I guess this is their way of saying if you want a discount you must present your coupon before we dry clean so we can use inferior product to clean your clothing. I was clearly told this was what the owner had in mind when I further made a phone inquiry at the same location. This is a very poor and unprofessional way to do business and one should be very weary when doing business with a dry cleaner who would destroy someone?s clothing and than try to charge them two times to clean them and then the property to be cleaned comes back dirty, smelly, and ruined and yes if you can believe it they had the nerve to charge me twice. Beware, he has no business morals and is very unprofessional, and could care less about anyone or their property.

First, they lost one of my shirts and it took over a month and several trips to the main plant to get re-imbursed. Then, the quality of cleaning became worse and worse. My white shirts came back dirtier than when I sent them in, with scorch marks and grease stains. They also looked like they were pressed by a blind primate using a waffle iron. "Re-dos" didn't come back much better.

When I finally went to the main plant to address the quality issue with the owner, he wouldn't even come out to speak to me- he was "too busy". I left my phone number to have him call me. I'll give you one guess as to whether I ever heard back from him.

I've given up using their services even though I'm taking a financial loss because I signed up for their "express club". I paid $25 up front to receive a 20% discount on services, but it didn't matter because they kept scewing it up and charging me full price anyway.

As a fond memory of their services, I'm also left with a dress shirt with a big bleach stain on it from them. I won't even bother asking to get re-imbursed for that shirt or my express club fee. Just cutting my losses.

Who knows, maybe it's just my bad luck and you'll love them. Caveat emptor.

Pros: Fast turnaround; cheap if you pay for membership and they remember to apply discount

Took 10 shirts to be cleaned and it cost mee $60.00! They said that streatch shirts (shirts with lyrica) had to be treated specially (ont the order of 7-8$ a shirt). Don't waist your money, take your garments to the cleaners accross the street.
