About a year ago, I was in the same position as you, searching review websites and looking for a decent new home for me to spend the next year or two of my post-graduate life. I decided on Clairmont at Farmgate because, quite frankly, there were no reviews for it yet so I figured no reviews is better than bad reviews. A summary of my experience at Clairmont at Farmgate is as follows:\n\n* My apartment has had (and still has) a severe cockroach infestation which the office has failed to address, to the point where I had to leave before my lease ended.\n*It came to the point that I could not spend nights in my own apartment that I am paying $800 a month for. I would come home from work, spray Raid, and pick up the cockroaches I found crawling in my shower, on my bed, in my kitchen cabinets, etc... and leave to spend the night elsewhere. \n*The office refused to come to any compromise about paying out the rest of my lease. In fact, the management at Kotarides chose to ignore my emails and phone messages. \n*I moved on a Saturday, my move-out inspection was on a Monday. During my move-out inspection, there was a cockroach laying on my kitchen floor which the manager chose to ignore even after I pointed it out. (!!!)\n* My apartment has been home to cockroaches of all shapes and sizes, I have seen several cockroach egg casings in my bathroom along with hundreds of babies(I didn't know what babies or egg casings looked like until Clairmont).\n*Only after I notified the office that I was leaving before my lease was the situation brought to management's attention.\n*The manager proceeded to perform an ""investigation"" to find out where the problem was coming from. This is where the story gets interesting, one woman at the leasing office told me that the source of the cockroaches was my neighbor downstairs and that they had a severe infestation. When I asked the manager, she told me that a ""minimal issue"" was found but that is was nothing to explain my cockroach sightings (she basically told me I was making it up / I was crazy). Well, lucky for her I have dated pictures! \n*I have been a very loyal renter, paid my rent on time, and in return, I get lied to ignored and have not been able to reach any kind of compromise.\n\nI am a fairly easy person to please, noise doesn't bother me, parking is not a big deal, I don't care much for amenities like gyms and pools. All I wanted in my apartment is a clean place that I can feel comfortable and safe in. Clairmont at Farmgate failed to provide such an environment for me. Throughout my three years of renting apartments in college, never have I faced such negligence as I have here with the management staff at Clairmont at Farmgate, and subsequently with the Kotarides property management in Virginia. One thing I have learned from this experience is that if you see one cockroach in your apartment, you have an infestation. In the case of Clairmont of Farmgate, that infestation will not go away. They will simply put your name on a list and that will be that.\n\nThe best decision I have ever made was leaving Clairmont at Farmgate as soon I could. Now, in the new place I am renting, I can come home from work and not have a cockroach family reunion on my kitchen floor. It has been a long time since I've had that feeling.\n\n\n
