I'm just not happy with the level of service and follow through.
This is my third summer with Joe - I never met or spoke to him...is there really a Joe? This isn't about the price to close or open the pool - it is about the overall experience. They opened the pool this year and nothing has gone right - a week after opening and I still have cloudy water!
My previous pool company - removes the filter at the end of the season and washed and stored it until the new season. Joe's has never offered me this service. This summer they had to clean out the filter - it was gross and during the process, the filter was dropped and came apart. It took hours to put back together and I'm not sure it is working or will ever work properly.
They never tested the water before putting in the start-up chemicals. They did not test to make sure the heater was working. And when I did, and we noticed smoke coming from the heater, I was told that was normal. (That had never happened before!) Upon further inspection, I noticed how dirty the heater elements were - since they had not been covered all winter. (Another service my previous company did - Joe's does not...)
They did not check to see if the pool light worked - which I discovered it does not. I was told they would have to wait for the pool water to warm up - before they could change the bulb - I got that and it made sense...but they did not check the light, I did!
I have taken my pool water sample to another company to have it checked and rechecked - trying to find out why I still have cloudy water - and we still haven't figured it out. Do I blame Joe - not entirely. But it all started with their service - or lack of service.
I do and did expect my pool opening service to include a full check up of the water, the mechanics, the liner, etc - check it all out to make sure that when you leave that everything is in working order or schedule follow up repairs if necessary. They just seem to be in a big hurry to open as many pools as possible - without giving each customer their total attention.
After three summers it's time to change pool companies.
