I took my Dell laptop in with a broken DC jack. The Henderson location gave me a ticket and an estimate of 5 to 7 business days to fix it. I dropped the computer off on a Sunday afternoon. I called the store on Monday evening the following week, the 7th day, and was told that my computer was on the technicians table and I should try back the next day. I called back the next evening and was told that they hadnt even looked at it yet to tell what was the problem and it was still a few computers back in line to be looked at. He told me they would let me know when it was ready.

Three days later, now 12 days after dropping it off, I called back and was told that they were getting to it that afternoon. When I called back the next evening they told me AGAIN that they hadnt even started looking at it. The next day I had no choice but to go in and ask what was going on with my computer in person.

When I got to the store I was floored to be told that they hadnt fixed my computer because they ran out of soldering wicks. In my mind Im think How the holy H#ll do you run out of a consumable item that you NEED to run your computer repair business? And furthermore, why dont you just go to FRYs and pick some more up rather than let a stack of peoples computers just sit un-repaired? When I told him that this wasnt acceptable and I needed my computer to get some files off of it he became belligerent. He told me that they werent much past the estimate date of 5 to 7 business days. Keep in mind we are at day number 15 now. I told him that neither the person who accepted my computer, nor the ticket itself say ANYTHING about business days. The ticket just says 5 to 7 DAYS. I took my computer so that I could back up some more files and told the guy I would bring it right back so that it could be fixed. He let me take it and said he would return it to the line when I brought it back.

When I brought the computer back about an hour later I was told that my spot was filled by another computer and they would have to write another ticket. Now, its my own stupid fault for continuing with this store but I was willing to go along because he put a wait time of 1 day on the ticket. This time when I called to check on the status I was told that the problem was a cracked motherboard that had to be ordered. Why after 2 weeks did they just now figure this out!? I told them to order the board and tell me when it was fixed. After 6 more days of not hearing anything back I called and was told it was ready to be picked up. When I picked it up they gave me a different power supply then I dropped off. I had dropped it off with a genuine Dell power supply and they were trying to give me a generic one. I said this was not acceptable and the technician found a Dell one to give me. I checked the computer out briefly and took it home. When I got home I noticed on the receipt that the cashier UNDERCHARGED me. He had put the decimal in the wrong place and only charged me roughly $25.00 when the bill was about $250.00. Besides the fact that I now consider these people to be the biggest buffoons ever my conscience was making me return to their store to pay them more money!!! So I returned to the store a couple hours later and paid the other $225.00.

Apparently I didnt check the computer out enough because soon after I started using it at home I found that anytime I tried to adjust the angle of the screen, the screen would freeze or just go haywire. I took the computer back the next day and showed them the problem. They said they would put a rush on it and wrote me a new ticket. Unfortunately I was so exasperated at this point that I didnt notice that a rush to them was ANOTHER 5 TO 7 DAYS! I called after 5 days and was told that the computer was fixed again. When they put it back together the first time, they left a chip loose.
I showed up at the store to pick up my computer and was told that they could no longer do warranty work on my computer because I was using a power supply that was the wrong amperage. Admittedly I flipped out because that power supply was the second-hand Dell power supply that THEY GAVE ME because they couldnt find the one I brought in originally. If it was the wrong one it was because they gave me the wrong one. After I calmed down I told them I would wait until they gave me the correct one at no cost. It took them 30 minutes to find one. I took it and left. Once again, I should have checked my computer more thoroughly before I left because when I got home I realized that they didnt reassemble my computer correctly and the top front panel where the power button is, is not seated all the way so you can see the circuit boards underneath. Im going to deal with it because I will NEVER be taking this computer back to Laptop Exchange.

Great experience! The associates were friendly & knowledgeable. They gave us a very fair price for our old laptop. Overall, we walked away very happy with our experience.

I brought my laptop in because there was a problem with my screen. The technician who worked on it was Chris. I was told 3 days later that the problem was my "suspend switch" and that the part wasn't being made anymore but it could be disconnected and would work fine. The cost for this service was to be the $60 diagnostic fee since nothing was being replaced and it was an easy fix. I go in to pick my computer up and when the kid at the counter took my computer out of the box it was in he opened it, the lights came on as if it were ON, he mumbled something about, "oh, it's not supposed to be on..." then promptly hit the power button to turn it off (before anything even loaded on the screen) and that was it. I didn't know at the time that their policy is to turn the computer on in front of you to show you that it works before you leave with it...of which was NOT done when I picked it up.

The next day I turn my laptop on and it says something about a disc missing...there's no disc in the drive to load so I turned it off and then back on...then windows wouldn't load...AT ALL. So I call them back and they tell me to bring it back in. Next day I bring it back in and leave it with them...another 3 days later I get a phone call from Chris saying that my operating system is corrupted and for $90 more (on top of the $60 I already paid) he can re-boot my operating system and retrieve my files. I asked him if he started windows before it was released to me the last time it had been in and at first he said yes but then admitted that he hadn't but that it should have been started in front of me before I left with it...and it wasn't. He tells me that something I did must have corrupted it and adds that pretty much anything can corrupt the operating system...even just moving it can do it.

What really happened was that when he was in there screwing around with my "suspend switch" he corrupted the operating system...then when I picked it up it was PURPOSELY not started in front of me because it wouldn't have worked and I was then blamed for their mistake. He gives me a "deal" and decides to re-boot the operating system and retrieve my files for $60 more instead of $90 more and 3 days later I pick up my laptop AGAIN. My operating system works and my photos and documents are there...but all of my programs are GONE. Including my $700+ Quickbooks. Somehow he managed to save all the shortcuts to all of my programs but NONE OF MY PROGRAMS REMAIN. So because he screwed up I have to shell out the cost of replacing all of my programs. Thanks for nothing.

Oh, and during the period of time that my laptop was originally being "repaired" my husband and I bought another laptop from them ($320) and an external CD-DVD drive ($70). Needless to say I will never bring anything into this business again...EVER.
