Where can you still go where the owner knows your name? Say cheers to The Path Cafe near the Christopher Street PATH station and its owner, David Sheridan. I happened upon this place on a lazy Sunday afternoon and fell in love with the laid back vibe and the warmth of the people working there. The coffee is brewed nicely and you can enjoy a mini-pastry while checking your email as they provide free WiFi. For lunch or dinner, I always get the Roast Beef Panini and the Brunch Panini was excellent too (Fried Egg & Bacon, you can never go wrong!). The owner, David, is a friendly and warm guy who makes you feel welcome whether you are a first time walk in or a repeat customer. He remembers your name and what is your favorite fare from their decent menu. It may not be a lot but what they do have is done with care and tastes real good. Come to The PATH Cafe and sit back, relax, and either come alone or with a bunch of friends. They're always happy to have you walk through their doors.

Pros: Great Grilled Paninis, Good Coffee, Relaxed Vibe, Cool Owner

Cons: Only in the West Village

I am the first reviewer!!!!! I'm a Queens gurl, okay - I drink Dunkin Donuts. I just got a job in Manhattan - but it sucks taking the N train with a cup of coffee during the morning commute. So I had to a search of my new work neighborhood - the west, west Village and not one Dunkin Donuts. No really, not one. Bodaga coffee, tea shops and the little man on the corner selling luke warm cups of dirty water. All the west village coffee shops have that very burnt strong expresso type coffee. But luckily I ran into the owner of Path Cafe, David online at the post office. He said the first cup of coffee was on him. A week later he remembered me when I walked in. It's not Dunkin Donuts, don't get me wrong. I just may not be that sopfisticated yet. But it's exactly what I need. The egg sandwich is great and now I get my lunch there too.

Pros: The only coffee shop that sells real coffee

Cons: No Donuts.
