Not sure this is a Vet Hospital properly practicing vet medicine because when we went there several years ago it was like a price is right contest. The girl vet from the time she opened the door until the time we left would not stop trying to sell us ridiculous pet products. We were shocked to see that is where their practice has gone down to.

Another we know got a price to get a cat spayed and declawed. At the time, one of them was unemployed. After they took their kitten there and were to pick it up, the price ended up being much higher. They did not have enough money and were short like $5.00. They also desperately needed the special liter for the kitten because it had its claws removed. You have to use a special litter for their claws or you may as well not have them removed then; they get infected if you let them use regular cat liter. This liter is like newspaper. This family also did not subscribe to a paper at the time so did not have any. Besides that, it would take a lot of shredded newspapers to put in a litter box. At this time, this special kind of litter was not available to buy at any stores like Walmart, just at vet offices. The vet there, was peculiar, he had a hissy fit because they were short a whole $5.00 and because of that refused to sell them any liter to use for their kittens claws. He remarked to them you already have a negative bill run up here, why run it up more.

I have taken my pets (dogs & cats) to Glenwood for over 30 years. The staff has always been helpful and caring. The doctors have all showed care, compassion and wonderful insight when treating my furry family members. Dr. Felix is a thorough professional always willing to listen and educate the pet owner. Dr. Polumbo, Redmond are also cery sincere and caring physicians we have dealt with. Prices are fair and the care is seond to none. On the few occasions I had experience with other providers, I realized why I always preferred Glenwood.

After going to a vet hospital on east 38th St that is nothing more than a money pit without quality vet care, I took a chance on GPH. The difference is incredible, & so far I have no complaints.

Most of the techs are very professional; yet still friendly & helpful, but a couple of them could learn to be more cordial to a client, since ultimately we do pay their wages.

I am very impressed with the way the vets my babies have seen at GPH so far, will actually listen to me; the pet owner, unlike some vets we've seen elsewhere, who brush off your questions & suggestions.

They return phone calls when requested, never make you feel rushed, & are very sensitive to your pets fear of vet visits.

I am able to make an appt with the only 2 vets I prefer to see, & can usually get an appt in a timely manner. best of all is they are without a doubt, more than fair on the cost of vet care.

I think GPH is the only vet hospital who realises that making vet care affordable, means healthier pets! I personally recommend Dr. Palumbo & Dr. Redmond. They truly are wonderful vets.

Dr. Cheropovich is a vet who goes above and beyond to make sure my pet has been cared for properly. I've though I have moved to Pittsburgh, and have had to take another vet in the area for emergency things, I still take my cats to Dr. Cheropovich for yearly check ups and any big procedures that come along. The drive is worth it to get the best medical care!

Glenwwod used to be probably THE best vet hospital in the Erie area. Dr. Felix, Polumbo, and McVie are probably some of the most caring vets you would ever meet anywhere.
However, in the last 5 years a lot has changed and newer vets are there now and running the show. McVie is retired, Felix is semi-retired and I am sure to soon be fully retired and so that only leaves PJ Polumbo left. Mistakes are being made in dogs care and medications with regard to tests being run and medications given, records are lost, the staff is rude and different every time you are in there- and I am in there a lot being a breeder and exhibitor of Golden Retrievers. I am just so very disappointed in what this vet hospital has become. There are newer vets in there that are very arrogant and self serving and don't seem to care about the animals that they are treating. I had been a loyal customer of theirs for over 15 years but I will not ever walk thru their front doors again. I wouldn't ever recommend them to anyone, either.

My animals used to be patients of Animal Ark but when they charged me $40 to do a "urine dip test" which is nothing more than dipping a strip of paper in the urine (which I collect!) and then charged me $15 for the medicine she needed (which was nothing more than Neosporin!) We left.
We started going to Glenwood 5 years ago and I couldnt be happier. My dog was very sick last year and we almost lost him. The doctors were very good to me AND him and let me take him home and gave me strict instuctions as to how to care for him, rather than admitting him to the Emercency Center and putting him in a cage all night. They were very upfront about the costs that would be involved and what the outcome should be.
Recently, I rescued a cat and her kittens from outside and called to ask if they would do a Feline Leukemia test on her b/c I already have a cat and didnt want her to get sick from this cat. They let me bring her in, tested her for 4 internal diseases and the doctor even looked at her - even though they told me he couldnt and they never charged me for the OV, just the testing. They truely care about animals and I love it there!

Over the past 25 years, I have had 7 different dogs and 4 cats. They have all been patients at GPH. They have all been incredibly well cared for and if I ever came across a vet I didn't particularly like, I made my next appointment with a specific doctor, which you are allowed to do.

One of my dogs became ill suddenly when I lived briefly in another state. The vets there cared for him and ran extensive tests, but could never figure out what was wrong. About a month later we moved back to Erie and Dr. Felix took over his care. My dog went downhill quickly one night in February, in the midst of a really bad snow storm. Dr. Felix told us to bring him in and he would see what he could do. Unfortunately, my dog died before we made it there. But when we arrived, Dr. Felix was standing at the door waiting for us.

My most recent favorite doctor to deal with is Dr. Cheropovich. He is incredibly gentle with my pets and when we had to have one of our dogs put down, he made it such a peaceful experience.

If you ask about prices they will tell you. If you don't like a particular vet, make an appointment with a specific one. My only complaint would be that some of the techs aren't very friendly. But you only have to spend about 5 minutes with them, if that.

I haven't really had any negative experiences there. Other than a pricey test (that I later learned couldn't really give a definite answer) that was performed on one of my cats. I was told he had FIP and would probably only live another 3-6 months, if that. That was five years ago. He's still here. The same doctor that most of the other complaints are about here ordered the test.

Overall, I love GPH and wouldn't take my pets anywhere else. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a new vet. :)

I can't say enough about how wonderful the doctors and staff of Glenwood Pet Hospital are. I had a corgi named Toby that had became inflicted with lymphoma. Lymphoma in canines is incurable but Dr. Pierce and Staff treated my Toby with the utmost care and respect. Some of Toby's treatments involved a chemo drug to be administered by IV for about 20 minutes. The staff of Glenwood Pet Hospital would sit with Toby the whole time. In fact, Toby was actually happy and excited when it was time to go to Glenwood Pet Hospital for his treatments because he would get to visit his friends there. There was no anxiety or pain for Toby, just a lot of love and attention.

They were able to keep Toby alive for a full year which is a miraculous feat as the survival rate for canine lymphoma is 3 to 6 months. When Toby came out of remission they did what they could to make him comfortable but ultimately we had to put him down. Dr. Pierce and Staff handled that difficult task with the greatest of sensitivity.

I love the way Glenwood Pet Hospital handled my little buddy's illness. Not every pet illness is curable and not every injury is repairable but I'm absolutely confident that the doctors and staff of Glenwood Pet Hospital will do everything they can to maximize the health and wellbeing of our pets.

I've been a patron there for about 20 years.

I don't usually write reviews, but after reading the previous posts I felt I had to. Dr. Pierce, Dr Felix, and the other veterinarians at Glenwood Pet Hospital have always taken great care of my pets. They have spent time in person and on the phone helping me and my pets through difficult illnesses, behavioral problems, and grieving for my lost friends. They have always been honest and caring, and I would never go anywhere else.

I have trusted Glenwood Pet Hospital to treat my dog for the last 3 years. The most recent visit will be our last. Without going into the entire detail, my dog was brought in to be sedated to cut his nails back. I dropped him off at 8, called at 11:30 to check on him, I was told he was fine and that I could pick him up any time. I picked him up at 5 and he still so drugged I had to help his back end into the car. He cried all night long and was dopey until the following day. When I called to talk to the vet, Dr. Dan Pierce, about it I was met with an offensive mannerism from him and was told by him that he was happy to be losing my dog as a patient. TERRIBLE! In my opinion, Dr. Pierce and the Glenwood Pet Hospital only want to treat animals that are docile and are on their best behavior all the time. If the animal does not cooperate, they are unfairly marked as being aggressive. I would not recommend this hospital to anyone who loves their pet.

They utilize stop-in vets making estimated or redundant diagnosis rather than recognizing the long- term knowledge and care of the pet. :

They do not inform pet owners in advance of procedures and the costs:

They do not provide overnight emergency attention or application of necssary medications.

This facility killed my dog...my pet... my family member...

We have 5 dogs and 7 cats, and so we have occasion to visit Glenwood Pet Hospital quite often. We love Dr. Polumbo, who we think of as "our doctor," but every one of the other vets who have at times seen our pets have been nothing short of excellent. While some other vets we have been to in past years push what I sometimes consider "over-the-top" testing and unnecessarily expensive procedures, the Glenwood doctors try to find ways to give the best and most sensible care at the lowest possible cost. Everyone at Glenwood, veterinarians and staff alike, have shown themselves to be very sensitive and caring, especially at those times when we have had to regretfully put a beloved pet down. They have a love for all animals, and I have even seen a person bring a pet rat in for Dr. Polumbo to care for. I doubt that most veterinarians would accept a chicken for treatment, but Glenwood even took care of a couple of our pet chickens on two separate occasions, and thanks to them, the chicks made it through. One had had an unfortunate encounter with a dog, and the other was having trouble passing an egg. 3 cheers for Dr. Felix, Dr. Polumbo, and all the others! Glenwood folks are awesome!!!

I used to be an employee of Glenwood Pet Hospital years ago. I worked there for 3 years. When I worked there Dr.Sorenson, Mcvey, Felix, PJ Polumbo, were all there. It is a shame that some of the newer less caring veterinarians, young and less seasoned, have taken over the practice. Dr Felix is semi-retired and PJ is still there and she is amazing but if you do go there steer clear of Dr Pierce for he is running that office wrong. He is a competitive, young, aggressive Dr that lacks the experience and caring nature of the other Drs. What a shame a business that took so long to build loyal clientel is GOING TO THE DOGS< LITERALLY

I went to Animal Kingdom with a cat that had her spine exposed. It wasn't my cat, but I was willing to pay to have her put down. I didn't have much money at the time, I was living paycheck to paycheck. They refused to be of any assistance unless I had the full amount for the procedure. They also suggested a local private shelter that allows animals to die in a cage naturally. This animal was in severe pain and I couldn't see her suffer any longer....I called Glenwood Pet Hospital and they put her down free of charge & disposed of the cat for me. They were extremely helpful and a very caring group of people.

On another occasion, my dog had torn an artery running through his ear. I was in a frantic state and immediately took him to Glenwood. I came through the door covered with blood, holding my dog and crying...I couldn't speak. The staff took one look at me & came running! They responded quickly with no questions asked regarding "payment". They just took care of my baby and "ME". I can't say enough good things about this group. They are by far the best. They truly care about the pets that come through their door. Their priorities are in order.

I take both my dogs to GPH. I have found that all of the doctors are kind, caring and knowledgable. The staff is usually friendly, however, they do get somewhat abrupt when its busy. Dr. Felix is the best! He doesnt practice "cover your butt" medicine. He does what needs to be done and doesnt go overboard. Everytime I call to get an emergency, walk-in appointment, I am always accommodated. I wouldnt take my pets anywhere else!

I have nothing but praise for the staff at GPH.
I have been taking my dog, Eddie, to GPH for eleven years and we have always been treated with courtesy and professionalism. I highly recommend GPH for pet care.
I am especially grateful for the care and kind attention Eddie received from the staff during a recent emergency situation.

I love the Glenwood Pet Hospital. Dr. Felix is a wonderful and caring doctor. When we do take our cat in, we have a hard time controlling her because the only time she goes outside is to the doctor and she is very frightened. Dr. Felix is very gentle with her and can get the job done and has even helped us get her back in her carrier. I would not take her anywhere else.

I didn't like the care that my dog received here. They were rough and callous and didn't seem to care one way or the other about him or me.

It also wasn't the cleanest animal hospital i've ever been to either. I definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone no matter what type of animal you have.
