My wife and I went in for our anniversary last night and it was wonderful. Our server, Joe, was very attentive and prompt. The Autumn Short Ribs as well as the fish and grits were to die for!! We will be back when my family arrives in town this weekend!! Saffire is truly a jewel hidden in the Factory of Franklin!! See you soon!

Pros: Great Server, Awesome Food, Wonderful Music

.

Brought my girlfriend here on a busy saturday night last week...we must've come in at the perfect time because we sat at the bar and then after us a crew of like 50 regulars rolled in. it was pretty awesome with everybody joking and talking and sharing wine and drinks with everybody else (even us!). saffire must have a monopoly on fun for a restaurant bar. the restaurant floor filled up too, and there was a jazz band playing. they were pretty good, though no singer--just instrumental. liked the music, food was great, atmosphere was awesome, and our service was fantastic. highly recommend it for a good time and good food

Pros: food, atmosphere, service, BAR

Cons: crowded bar on busy nights

My boyfriend and I went to Saffire on the spur of the moment on a Thursday night. The exposed brick walls, local artwork, beautiful old bar (hostess told us it was over 150 years old!) and live piano player all made the experience memorable.
The speed of service was good and there seemed to be a general vibe of wanting everyone to be at a relaxed pace. Our server advised us that the head chef was from LA--where my family lives--and he came over to the table and we shared a lengthy conversation about the menu and his FABULOUS gumbo. The best I've had and I've spent time in N'Awlins, baby! And their biscuits are sooo good. I even asked for another plate--and the recipe!
I'd go back in a heartbeat. I appreciated that the wait staff was well groomed and that the music was live. We were able to make requests to the piano player and sip a nite cap on the lushous velvet couches on our way out the door. The bar patrons were friendly and the bartender made a point to introduce herself and had an infectious laugh. Good times!

Pros: beautiful bar, personable staff, relaxed Southern service

Cons: bathrooms needed a little help with decor

I literally JUST came back from checking out Saffire's half price wine night (which they do every Tuesday!!!) and I have to say that I was very impressed with everything about this place.

I had never been before (don't know why.. its in the Factory,) and I was pleasantly surprised. I hadn't heard the best things. People kept saying they had changed owners? The service was bad, or the food wasn't cooked properly, but I have to say that they hit it out of the park tonight.

Our food was fantastic (fish and grits,) our server was very courteous and knowledgeable about the wine list. He didn't even suggest the most expensive bottle of wine on the list when we asked for a recommendation (so annoying when they do that!)

All in all I will definitely be back... next time with a date.

Pros: Great Happy Hour, Good Food, Good Service

Cons: Family Atmosphere?

We made reservations at Saffire for 9:30pm so the restautrant was not crowded. We weren't greeted until 15 minutes after being seated. Server did not explain menu, after requesting bread twice since we were starving the server brought burned rolls that were horrible. We ordered two hundred dollar bottles of wine and they were dropped on our table, as the server ran back off to wait on someone else... It just goes downhill from there. My primerib was dry as could be....salad was drenched in dressing..the dessert was hard as a rock. The is suppose to be fine dinning but crackerbarrell would be considered fine dining compared to this place. The decor was mediocore, everything about this place was horrible. DO NOT waste your money!!!! I have never written a bad review ever, and I am usually extremely easy to please.....

My brother and I decided to take my mom, and other members of our family, to Saffire for my mom's birthday. Unfortunately, we didn't have the best experience. Generally, we aren't hard to please, but the service was just not good. Initially, our waiter was nice (especially to my toddler), but then he quickly became overwhelmed. He was rushing back and forth between us and his other tables, yet oddly, he was still very slow and unattentive. We needed to ask for things and wouldn't see him for some time to ask him! I told him it was my mom's birthday, and he said "Happy Birthday" to her. That was it. My father didn't like his meal, and ordered something else. Not once did the waiter apologize. At the end of the meal, we ordered dessert (that came with ice cream) to go. When we asked for the ice cream to be packaged separately, our waiter rudely replied, "What? It's going to melt! Well, ok, but it's going to melt." Actually, it was cold enough outside (less than 30 degrees!) for the ice cream to be just fine in the car. We got home to find that the ice cream was not packaged separately. Too bad I didn't check it there. Overall, I was disappointed and won't be returning to Saffire.

Pros: Prompt seating

Cons: Poor Service; average tasting food

My family and I had been to this restaurant about a year ago and had a great experience. The food was good and the service friendly. A year later, much has changed! I'm wondering if it is under new management.

My family and I was part of a large group of people (many from out of state). When we got to the restaurant there was no hostess. We joined our party and we were greeted by an absolutely horrible server. He was so rude, short, and snappy.

We waited 20 minutes for bread and only got it when we asked for it, we asked to have the server start at the other end of the table to take orders and he demanded that we ordered right then. Additionally, he knew next to nothing about the menu and was clearly frustrated when we were asking questions about the different menu options. He tried to be funny with rude, sarcastic comments. He included gratuity on the check which I'm sure contributed to his bad attitude. He knew he would be getting a good tip regardless of the quality of service.

Having worked in the service industry, I was honestly appalled by how we were being treated. Our server clearly does not enjoy what he does and his lack of enthusiasm created a very hostile dining environment and horrible dining experience. I will for sure never be back, and neither will the other 14 members of our party.

Pros: Decor,

Cons: Service, food quality, drinks

.

My husband and I visited Saffire on Sat. the 17th. The atmosphere was nice and the menu looked good. We had no trouble finding something desireable to eat. However, the service was not acceptable for that caliber of eatery. It took the server several minutes to greet us and take our drink orders. The one drink that we were given was the ONLY one we had for appetizers and a meal. He visited our table maybe twice. The food is decent, however it was not the best I've had. The service was awful. IT will be our last trip, I reccomend Whitfields in Belle Meade for anyone who wants excellent food and excellent service.

Pros: nice ambiance

Cons: terrible service , sub par food

.

The food has always been good especially the daily fish special, the drink are innovated and pretty cool (alittle pricey but good). The bartender is the best she is always friendly and the service is excellent. I love the Old Factory in Franklin... they also have good outdoor eating facilities.

Gem of a find in Franklin.

Pros: Food, The bar, the Ambience is great

Cons: alittle pricey on the drinks and wine

.

The food is always consistant, the mix master behind the bar has some kicking martini's. The barbecue shrimp is great and comes with hot french bread. I usually get the fish special and my Husband ordered the pork chops on our last visit, which was (2) extra large chops cooked to order.

Great food and cool place to have a meal.

For what this restaurant offers in ambiance it sorely lacks in food quality and service. What a holy nightmare this place was, and during a lunch hour slow enough that we were two of only four guests in the entire restaurant, with a disheveled staff of about 15.
The food took 45 minutes, while one dish (a salad, no less) had to be completely redone, and my husband's pork tenderloin was a charcoal briquette by the time it and my (second) soggy entree salad made it to the table. The server was polite but useless and stood around chatting aimlessly while we waited for two simplistic dishes, the lonely ice pooling at the bottom of our empty goblets. Perhaps the worst part is that you can see the kitchen from the main dining area, so I had the privilege of watching my salad (topped with fish) sit for 35 minutes, and then had to request a new dish when the waitress actually brought it to the table warm and stale. No apologies, no refills, NO THANK YOU.
Taste-wise, they had what was purported to be ahi tuna atop my redone yet still mushy salad. It might as well have been Chicken of the Sea for all the flavor it had. The sauce on the rice noodles (with the pork dish) was tasty, we assume only because it was the one thing that wasn't overcooked. Alas, everything at Saffire leaves you feeling blue. D-

Saffire is just what my husband and I were looking for! While culinary wonders are a short drive away in Nashville, Franklin itself doesn't have an abundance of great dining experiences. Saffire is an excellent alternative to driving to Nashville for a night out. The food is great Southern fare and the atmosphere is cool and eclectic. While the service is not the best we've ever experienced, the servers are friendly and fun. Highly recommend the chicken fried chicken with Loveless gravy if your looking to tantalize your tastebuds and expand your waistline!

I recently took my wife to dinner at Saffire for our 5 year aniversary. From start to finish our night was perfect. We had the emapnadas to start. They were prepared just right and had great flavor. My wife and I both got the Fish and Grits and were very happy with it. The wine list was great and our server recommended a great chardonnay that we really enjoyed. I cant wait to return to Saffire. Keep up the great work.

I don't know why I keep coming back to the place. As for the good reviews those people must have never gone to a "good" restaurant. I've eaten across the US and let me tell you this is not a good restaurant. The food is just ok, everything tastes the same. They used to have a great "Happy Hour" so that made it passable but now they don't even have that.
Did something change at Saffire's?
I would not recommend this place to anyone.

I visited Saffire alone on a Sunday evening around 6 p.m., and the place was nearly deserted. I asked the bartender to recommend his favorite small plate, and was amazed by the most sensational roast pork I've ever eaten. The tamarind BBQ sauce sounds trendy, but tasted--quite simply--perfect. The pineapple martini was both refreshing and potent.

I use Saffires for clients who come in from out of town and to host large groups. They are great to deal with and will work with you in any way.

It has been a while since me and my wife went to Saffire for dinner. Even though the restaurant was packed the host greated us with a smile and led us to a great table in the middle of the restaurant. The service was perfect from start to finish. The wine list was interesting and included many bottles that I have not seen in restaurants before. The wine manager sold me on a 1996 rioja and as he described it, it was indeed "Amazing" . The food was very well done. We really enjoyed the cold crab cake and the filet. I am sure that we will be back very soon.

i had alwasy heard sombady hear they were a good place for food and wine, they are a good place for people who dont know food and wine, the entrees show no variation between, the same sides are offered throuout the menu, a REAL chef would have each entree come with its own thing, we payed $10 for the cuban roast pork which had as much fat as pork, a REAL CHEF woul trim their product, the plantain chips were atleast four days old, i do them regularly at my restraunte, so i do know, my longisland was sweet and sour on the rocks, and at the very least you could to teach your servers how to pernounce the cheese on your daily chees platter, st/ andreas, is not saint andre, weak food, weak chef, weak service, and fyi to the chef a grit cake was exciting 100 years ago, you gotta great spot and a great set up, use it to your advantage, not to your demise

As a regular to the Franklin restaurant scene, Saffire is by far the best yet. Every weekend my husband and I like to go out for a high class meal, and a few out of the ordinary drinks. Not only are we looking for the food and drinks to make the experience, but the service as well. As we came in for a reservation on Saturday night, we were warmly greeted by the smiling host, but better yet our waitress was at our table within a minute with our drinks. Throughout the night everything was perfect, the food came out prepared on time as well as our drinks. Our waitress, who was upbeat with a spunky personality sparked our night. We were able to relate to her not only in our interest for art, but as well as being from the same state. She was open to talk with laughs and smiles, and made us feel as if we were at home. We would highly recommend Saffire to all, due to every aspect of the restaurant.

I had dinner last night at Saffire and thought the new menu was amazing. I had the cold crab cake and the fried oysters for an appitizer. For dinner me and my wife got the tuna and the salmon, both were amazing. I dont know how anyone could say they have a bad wine list. We always find great wine at very reasonalble prices. We often come on tuesday night when all wines are half price and enjoy amazing wines that we would not normally order. Hats off to the chef and to the staff of this great Nashville Restaurant.

We looked forward to heading down to Franklin in hopes of proving you could find some great non-chains in the burbs - sadly mistaken on this trip. Here we go - reservation mix-up but corrected within a few minutes. Service started off slow and never improved including ordered drinks that never arrived. We were informed that the appetizer portion of the kitchen was running slow so at least we were warned of the 30 minute wait. This surprised us given that there were a handful of empty tables. Given the wait, we expected for the starters to arrive at the right temperature. Nothing is worse than a luke warm fried oyster - while unique in presentation it failed to execute in taste. Another longer than expected wait brought the entrees - while one entree was very good (swordfish and grits). The other consisted of fishy tasting mussels and shrimp that did not have the fresh taste one would expect from "fresh gulf shrimp." Service remained slow to non-existent while waiting for dessert and a check. Surprising given the number of wait staff standing in groups and talking among themselves.

We wanted so much to like Saffire but on so many levels it failed to perform.

Saffire has been my favorite restaurant in Nashville since it moved into the Factory. We recently had dinner there and noticed things were not right from the beginning. The average bread showed up on a saucer. Previously you were offered a selection of breads with an amazing butter. We decided to go with appetizers & drinkers for dinner, but 2 out of 3 of our appetizers were VERY disappointing. I wish someone could tell me what happen. Did it change ownership? It seemed like corners were being cut. The wine list is not as robust and service was just average..Please say it's not so!!!

We have visited saffire several times in the past year, most recently with a group of 20 people to celebrate my 25th birthday. Our food is ALWAYS wonderful. The service is always above par and was even great with the large group of people arriving at different times. The fish/shrimp and grits is always a favorite and the special fish is always great as well. The best all around is the pan fried chicken with sonoma cheddar mac & cheese! We will keep going back to saffire and taking out of town guests here as well. (Not much else like it in the Franklin area)

Cons: dinner is a little pricey, but lunch is reasonable

I live in NYC and Saffire could rival many Manhattan restaurants.

My fiance and I dropped by for an early-evening dinner date and left simply delighted. The atmosphere is eclectic and charming. The food is deliciously creative and tantilizing. The service was equally impressive.

We were offered a delicious Spanish, red wine at a steal-of-a-price that went incredibly well with our decorative platter of mouthwatering cheeses and fruits. We had an indulgent dish of Shrimp and Grits, the house special, and an Ahi Tuna that melted in your mouth. We finished off with a Key Lime Pie that is as good as it gets outside of the Florida Keys. Saffire is an enchanting find for most any occassion - a celebratory evening, a romantic one, or simply a special night out with the entire family.

Tonight was my 3rd and LAST visit to Saffire. The food is average and the service leaves a little bit to be desired. I first re-visited last year for my b-day and was dissapointed when my father's steak arrived 20 minutes after the rest of our meal was delivered. Tonight for my b-day we waited 20 minutes before even being recognized by the server at our table and then another 15 minutes before we received our wine. The so-called wonderful "fish and grits" (which is the ONLY reason we even went back) was luke warm and tasted like I could have done better buying a McDonald's Filet of Fish Sandwich. What a dissapointment and over-priced menu. You would be MUCH better off going to a chain (can't believe I'm saying that!). I really wonder how this place has kept it's doors open given the feedback I have received from others.

Saffire, tucked away in the revived 'Factory' shopping complex on Franklin Road, is one of the best restaurants I have visited in Franklin. It isn't cheap, but the food is nothing short of scrumptious and the atmosphere of the entire restaurant is VERY relaxing. You get what you pay for. The service is impeccable. This is NOT a place for rowdy kids! :-) I recommend trying this restaurant at least once, or you haven't tasted Franklin!

After living in Franklin for two years, we finally made it to Saffire for our anniversary. Wow! Knowledgable server, seamless bussing, attentive throughout. We began with a ravioli starter on the advice of our server- great move. My husband's caesar salad was amazing, with a giant crostini spread with herbed cream cheese. I had a cider-glazed salmon filet atop the tastiest spinach ever. Alongside were roasted red potatoes and shitake mushrooms, all over a creamy parsnip puree. Fantastic! My husband's Flintstone-sized prime rib was served with roasted asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes. Having been raised in a cattle ranching family out west, he can be a tough customer when it comes to beef, but he said it was probably the best he's ever had. They offered to comp us a dessert for our anniversary, but we were in no shape to eat another bite. We can't wait to go back!

Pros: fabulous food, great wine list, fun atmosphere

Cons: kind of noisy

The shotgun-style restaurant has tables down the left, a bar to the right, and a beautiful, gorgeously lighted kitchen in the back. The decor -- and the crowd for that matter -- was trendy and cool.

Tappas-style appetizers make for a nice start. Single-serve bruschettas, wild mushroom skewers, and shrimp with mango salsa. Sturdy, eclectic winelist. Our entrees -- an excellent grouper in bernaise sauce and a smoked prime rib -- were among the best we'd had in a Nashville area restaurant. Fresh strawberries with mascarpone and chocolate sauces was a light, interesting desert.

While many of the Nashville area's fine-dining destinations are a bit on the stuffy side, Saffire manages to be trendy and fun without forgetting about the food.

Saffire, simply put, is the best restaurant in Williamson County and perhaps in Nashville as well. The menu is a delight to read with combinations of ingredients unique in this area, the wait staff is very knowledgable about food and wine alike and the food is absolutely outstanding (the sides are especially good). The ambience promotes a casual feel, but background noise can get loud when busy. Eclectic wine list. Highly recommended!

Evening began with not easily locating restaurant, and culminated with a less-than-desireable meal. While the serving staff and management offered to correct any "problems", one would expect these to be corrected before the meal hits the table. The room is noisy, therefore sound abatement curtains or walls should be hung to minimize this (which wouldn't be a problem if it were a frat house), but a romantic get-away...it's not. Food was overpriced and unspecial. Prime rib was over 60% fat and waste. A dinner of this perceived quality should be memorable, this was in a negative way. On a positive note, the ice water was fine. In time, I may visit the establishment to see if it has improved, although with lower expectations than the ones which first led me there.

Cons: poor food value, "spotty" service, VERY noisy

I had dinner here on a Wednesday night. The menu was imaginative, colorful but lacked quality. I had swordfish and grilled vegatables. The swordfish was over cooked and the vegatables were very salty. My date had the Tuna, it had a slight burnt taste with little flavor. I also had the soup, very creative but very salty due to the soy milk base. Dinner cost over $50 dollars but was worth 1/2 that.

I love writers night at the Bluebird and go as often as I possibly can but this past Sunday night at Saffire's rivaled the best local writers show I've seen for quite some time. I enjoyed several evenings of fine dining at this establishment before finding out about their Sunday night show. Consider me a Sunday night regular from now on. If you like fine food and fine music definitely check it out. It's quite a step above the rest!

Considering the explosion of good dining establishments in Nashville recently, it is exciting to see this trend spread to Franklin. What was completely unexpected is the fact that Saffire, in the Factory in Franklin, is the very BEST restaurant in the Nashville area. Moreover, the prices are quite reasonable, the wine list is exemplary, and the servers are very knowledgeable. I use to visit Nashville on business, and since my first trip to Saffire, it became an absolute must for every subsequent Nashville visit. Now I live in Green Hills, and I have the pleasure of going to Saffire regularly. Everyone reading this message owes it to him/herself to go. Run -- don't walk!

Started off with a Martini and was not impressed. Most Tinies you should be able to taste the vodka or gin. Not in these. Wife had prime rib and what a big serving. I had fish with rice dish and it was very good. Another member at tablle had rib eye and rated it good. The oyster appetizer was very good. Thought they were alittle high for what they give you although it was "pretty food." If you know what I mean. We went on Sunday night and wasn't much happening. Will go back another night. "Dove", CA. girl, was server and was very good.
