I started going to the Cocina Mexican grill on Azalea Place because I really love Mexican food and this is close enough to work to go on my lunch hour. It seemed very convenient - until today.
They supposedly open at 10am, but when I arrived at 11:05, the parking lot was completely blocked by a FedEx truck, who refused to move. Although there was a Cocina employee outside with him, she also neglected to step up and have him move so customers could enter the building. I think she wanted me to park on the narrow street and walk across the gravel in high heels. One, the gravel would scratch my heels, two it is risky walking across such gravel in high heels. They may not care if I break my leg or neck, but I bet their lawyers would. Why they didn't have the FedEx guy move away from the parking lot entrance I will never understand, but he was absolutely rude and purposefully did not move although he understood he was affecting customers' ability to enter this building and the Cocina employee did not care any more than he did.
There goes the convenience factor. I have 60 minutes for lunch and I am a slow eater. It takes approximately 7 minutes each way to get to this business. If I cannot rely on their being accessible to me during business hours, then I have just wasted precious time on my lunch hour and now have to spend yet more time traveling to another restaurant.
The food is tasty enough when the business is convenient, but it is NOT 'drive-out-of-your-way' good and the uncaring attitude of the employees will ruin an appetite.
I imagine that uncaring attitude is learned from the owners/management who cannot even be bothered to have contact information on the Cocina website to address customer concerns and complaints. That's a pretty big red flag that they don't care enough to hear a customer's complaints and they certainly won't try to fix them if they don't even make it easy to hear them.
I cannot recommend them to anyone.
Pros: Tasty food, quick service
Cons: Not fantastic food, building not reliably accessible
