I work in IT for a tech company downtown, and went looking for a new place to grab a bite and a few beers on my dinner break with a coworker and we found this place. Looks new, nice place, little pricey

For the past nine months that I have been in Houston Sawyer Park has been one of my favorite hang out spots. A chill place where my friends and I could take down beers and enjoy a beautiful view of downtown. Unfortunately these times have come to an abrupt stop after the racist treatment several of my friends endured last night. We came up to the bar fully dressed up, button down shirts and jeans. However, all of my Asian friends were turned away at the door because of "baggy jeans" and all of my Caucasian friends including myself were allowed entrance even though their jeans were no baggier than ours. The reason I believe that on other days my asian friends were allowed into the establishment is because it wasn't crowded and they just wanted the money. However last night it was packed and they wanted to keep the crowd Caucasian. I stayed near the door for the rest of the night to watch other Asians-Americans, Hispanic, Indians, and Blacks turned away from the door because of the same lame excuse. At the same time, I saw several Caucasians walk in with shorts and flip-flops. This is a despicable establishment and I will never go there again.

My co-workers and I attempted to go to this place today was stopped by the door manager ER Jay. We were coming directly from work and he stated that one of my co-workers jeans were to baggy!!! My co-worker weighs maybe 135lbs so anything he wears will look like that plus his shirt was tucked in with a belt. His jeans were not even hangin off of ... See Morehis butt. I ask to speak with the manager and he stated I am the door manager and the manager is going to agree with what I say and I stated I want to speak with him anyway.
The manager Ben Lukish (that is what he stated his name was) look at my co-worker and said just as what the door manager said he was going to say. Now my co-worker is a black male and the door manager which was black let two white males with baggy jeans in and I brought that up to the manager which acted like he could care less!!! I asked for ... See Morehis manager name and he gave my Clay Steadham business card whom I will call!!!! I am usually not into the black, white, uncle Tom thing but this was out of line, discriminating, offensive, and crazy!!!
This dress code thing is just a way to let whomever they want to come in!!!! I think that is quite sad because the consumer always comes first!!!!

Editorial from

While this bar isn’t just for the guys, it certainly seems built for them. Feeding into stereotypes, Sawyer Park has exactly what macho men want: gorgeous wait staff and tons of flat screen TVs. That being said, the rooftop patio still…
