I eat sushi all over town and love this place. So fresh and lunch specials are great. Nice to have Japanese on this side of town.

This is a very nicely designed Japanese restaurant with friendly personnel and top quality food. I hadn't noticed it there on Wallisville, behind Starbucks and Chase Bank, until one of my husband's YMCA buddies recommended it. My husband is devoted to healthy eating, so it's difficult to get him to go to a restaurant. But his friend sold him on Osaka, so he suggested one evening that we try it out. (Wonders never cease!). Of course, the main draw for him was that Japanese food is usually quite healthy.

I wasn't all that enthusiastic about going, though, because I usually don't care for healthy food, or for Asian food for that matter. I like well-marbled steaks, and rich sauces with lots of butter, and potatoes with sour cream and cheese and bacon. Sushi sounded revolting to me.

But my Sushi-loving son suggested I try a "Spider Roll" (which is not Sushi, but sort of an introduction). So, I ordered that, and pronounced it good. But I wanted something more, and the waitress smilingly suggested a "Shaggy Dog" roll.

Oh, my goodness! That was heavenly. I am hooked. Now I go back every chance I get for one of those rolls.

My husband ordered the hibachi salmon, and he liked it a lot, and it fit his idea of "healthy." They also have hibachi steak, and hibachi filet mignon, and hibachi other things, but I haven't tried those yet.

Because I know the meats and fish and vegetables are so fresh, I might just take the plunge and try the Sushi one of these days.

I just hope Osaka can survive these hard economic times in our not-so-ritzy part of town. The evening meals will run $3-5 higher than most of the nicer restaurants in this area. But the bright side is, you can get a nice and economical lunchtime meal there.

Pros: Top quality, everything is super fresh.

Cons: Interior lighting is a bit dim.
