The New Vietnamese styled beer garden in the Lower East Side offers scenic brewery including some of the most famous Asian beers: Tsingtao, Kingfisher, Tiger, 33, Sapporo, Taj Mahal, to name a few, served as six-, 12-, and 24-packs, and delivered to you in ice-filled metal coolers. Charges are based on consumption, so don't worry, you'll only pay for what you drink! Our menu composed of spicy meat and fish dishes available in small, medium and large plates. Small plates include Pork bellies, Grilled short rib rolls, Sambal Garlic Frog legs and Spicy green mango salad. The restaurant also offer shareable plates ($18-$25) like Whole baked fish, Spicy Spicy Seafood Hot Pot and Chili-tamarind Dungeness crab.

The owner of Bia Garden already oversees a mini empire of banh mi shops. But judging from this long-awaited Lower East Side spot, there?s plenty of chef/entrepreneur Michael ?Bao? Hyunh to go around. The bar's main seating area is a spacious back garden, peppered with design accents like antique birdcages (converted into hanging lanterns by Hyunh?s partner, who designs lighting for the likes of David Bouley) and lush bamboo. Although the hidden aspect of the garden--reachable by way of a ?bia? (beer) cooler--is alluring, Hyunh?s scrumptious food is the main attraction. The tamarind lobster, shaking beef and any of the fresh, floral summer rolls stuffed with mint and basil are all worth trying.

Key Points

  • Great Veitnamese Appetizers
  • Extensive Asian Beer List
  • Spacious Outdoor Garden

The Inside Scoop

  1. When to Go - Though the main area is an open garden, a tarp keeps courtyard revelers dry at all times. Rain or shine, beware of long lines on weekend nights.
  2. The Extras - A takeout counter out front sells several brands of crunchy, delicate shrimp chips.
  3. Know Before You Go - It's a cash only operation, so hit up an ATM first.
