Working out or training has never been what I have defined as fun. It?s work that I could do without. Then I met Leigh Ann and my world has changed. I look forward to training sessions with her because not only I am I getting fit and healthy but I am laughing and enjoying the gym. HPI allows clients to feel comfortable in a setting that builds friendships and a sense of accomplishment. You will see results once joining this gym. I enjoy everything except the music. Please play motivating music!!!!
Pros: Accessiblity is key
Cons: Music is questionable

Leann was awesome! She made every session different and really fun! I not only was losing inches and feeling better but I was getting stronger, more toned and getting ready to compete in the Chicago Triathlon. She is a great personal trainer! I would highly reccommend her to anyone looking to get in shape or just needing a boost in their workouts!
Pros: Leann is awesome!!!!

I met my trainer, Sean, working out at xsport. Although he is a great trainer, that gym was WAY too crowded, and often equipment we wanted to use was not available, there were soo many creepy people staring at me (or so i felt), and the crowds at Xsport can be annoying. When he went to HPI, I went with him.
I only have time to work out with Sean once a week (due to volleyball schedule), but the work-outs kick my butt. It's like the trainers at HPI are a little family, and everyone knows everyone; and no matter who you work out with, they are all friendly to you, not staring at you judging like some other places. It makes for a fun/great work-out. Sometimes i share sessions with a friend, which makes them fun and a changes up some of the things we can do.
Sean can cater your workout to what you like. You like more weights, done. You like more bands/medicine balls, done. I usually do a combination of the two. Throw in a little aerobic set sometimes to get the heart rate moving, and voila - your ass is officially kicked.
Due to my love for bacon, personal training is a must. If you're like me - he's your guy!
Pros: Smaller Gym - Mostly Personal Training Sessions
Cons: I only have time to work out once a week

I have been training with Jose 3 days a week for the past month. He is an AWESOME personal trainer! He is extremely personable, knowledgeable and motivating! He has come up with a customized work out plan and diet based on my goals! He makes me work incredibly hard and I already notice a difference in my strength and energy level. I am a beginner when it comes to working out- both cardio and weights, but Jose is always patient with me (especially since I am terrible with coordination!) I would highly, highly recommend Jose for personal training! And to top it off, everyone at HPI is really friendly!
Pros: Smaller gym, personalized training schedule, location, staff

HPI, is a great place to workout. The facility is nice, clean and contains all the work out equipment necessary for a great workout. The trainer are great and one in particular I think is the best, Mark Hartman. He is incredibly motivating and will push you, but not to an uncomfortable limit like some trainers do. He also mixes it up so you never have the same workout twice. He is incredibly knowledgeable and makes working out fun. I have worked with him for a while and have lost a significant amount of weight; and have never felt better physically in my entire life. All around the combination of trainers and environment, makes this a great place to go too. I definitely recommend going here.
Pros: Trainers, location, facility

I started coming to HPI for personal training without realizing how much more it has to offer onsite, like a chiropractor, massage therapist, and nutritionist! The gym is open and the environment is fun and non threatening. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. They truly take to heart what each client's goals are for fitness and tailor their workout regimens to help their clients reach those goals and gain confidence and strength! I've been training with Dennis for 3 months now, and I can see and feel the difference. I feel more confident and more motivated to keep up the new healthy lifestyle! Thanks HPI and Dennis!

Working with Leigh Ann, a personal trainer at HPI really changed my relationship with working out. The support and interest she had in my training and my success encouraged me to work harder and by doing so, I achieved the goals I wanted. Training at HPI is more than going to a gym, it's an experience. The staff is fun, experienced, and inviting. They have everything you need to get you where you want to be.
Pros: Amazing Personal Training

HPI has given me my life back. When I first walked in to the gym about 2 years ago, not only was I struggling with my weight but, my overall health and self-esteem were far below normal. I lived in chronic pain from a previous back injury which was aggravated by carrying around my 10 month old daughter. I had been to many other gyms in chicago and had seen no results. With the help of the entire training staff, and Dennis in particular, I have been given the tools I need to live a healthier, happier life. In terms of nutrition, strength, and confidence, I have reached goals I would never have even imagined. I now live a pain free life and have developed a healthy passion for working out. The environment of the gym is comfortable and the Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. If you are thinking about getting back in the gym and starting a workout program, this is the place to be. You will be welcomed with friendly faces and results which are unbeatable.
Pros: Most Friendly and Knowledgeable Trainers in Chicago
Cons: none

Of all the gyms I've been to over the years this is my favorite. It has all the ammenities, the hours I want, and a knowledgeable staff. I would reccamend HPI to anyone who is looking for a low key gym or a great trainer.
Pros: Best gym & trainers I've met

When I started coming to HPI, Dennis took the time to find out what I needed and to craft a personalized plan for me. In our sessions, I've gotten exactly what I wanted.
The staff are all very friendly and HPI is the opposite of a meathead gym - people are there to get a good workout, not look good.
Pros: Knowledgable trainers, comfortable environment
Cons: hard to find

HPI is an outstanding facility to use for anyone who needs to get in shape or needs rehabilitation beyond traditional physical therapy. I was in need of some muscle building after an injury and I convinced my doctor that I should try HPI. I had already been thru basic PT and was in need of a program that was a bit more challenging. After about 4 weeks at HPI, I had significantly improved my muscle strength.
My personal trainer Ryan is very knowledgeable and well trained. He consistently provides me with a well rounded workout. Each session is also unique as Ryan always incorporates some new resistance or stretching exercise.
You are guaranteed to get in shape with Ryan as your trainer.
Pros: Well trained staff

I had my standard; 30 mins cardio and maybe a few machines gym routine down pat and needless to say after years of the same routine, it was getting me nowhere. It took a little nudging and encouragement to give Personal Training a try, cause after all who can afford it and it can be a tad intimidating.
Dennis and the HPI staff took the time in the beginning to give me a complete physical evaluation, to gauge what I could and could not handle and what my workouts should be focused on. Each time I arrived, the training session was completely tailored to my specific needs and accomplishments thus far. By observing other trainers as well, you can tell that a lot of prep time and consideration goes into each client's work out session.
After just a few short weeks, I noticed strength and muscles I never knew existed. As well as a significant increase in my core strength without having to do hundreds of crunches. My trainer snuck in those core exercises and I didnt even notice.
I know PT is seen as being an expensive option when it comes to getting in shape, but the HPI staff is more passionate about creating a healthier you. The first step is the hardest, but you'd be crazy not to check out this amazing facility and the support of their incredible staff.
On a side note, you could not ask for a more welcoming, flexible and entertaining staff. While the gym is a place to "pump up," HPI is also a place to share a laugh, funny story from the weekend or join a friend to sweat it out together. It feels more like a neighborhood and less like the usual corporate gym experience.
Pros: Innovative workouts, not over-crowded, convenient location
Cons: Nada

HPI is the best place in the city for quality personal training. The trainers are all dedicated to their jobs and it shows. Dennis and the crew take the time to give you a full fitness experience. If you are looking to get in shape this is the place to be.
Pros: Great Facility, knowledgeable and friendly staff

HPI is a very nice, clean, comfortable gym with excellent personal trainers. As an amateur bicycle racer; I am always looking for good cross training during the winter off-season to improve my speed and power on the bike and have an edge on my competitors when the race season returns in the spring.
Let me tell you, this gym has it all. Dennis, my trainer, does an unbelievable job with me and plyometrics. I get a workout tailored to my specific sport and am pushed way beyond what I could do on my own. I have no doubt my racing will be improved next season as a result of HPI and the personal training they have. They have computrainer sessions too.
This gym is full service. Even though I mainly just do plyometrics, they have full free-weights and machines for working out. AND, for all the tri-athletes, HPI has an endless pool for winter time swim training.
Overall, a great gym and highly recommend!!
Pros: great hours, location, equipment, cost
Cons: none

Ok, so I have trained at several gyms in Chicago and HPI by far has been the best. My trainer is Donnie and he rocks! I went from 37% body fat to 12%. I have more energy now and look great!
He took a whole body approach I really appreciated that I did not find from my previous trainer at another gym. He assesed my current condition and wrote me a diet and workout plan that fit my schedule while keeping me focused on the whole body and not just a nicer chest and bigger biceps.
The facility is smaller than others but since it is a private gym you don't have the normal gym rats getting in the way and can always get on the equipment you need. HPI is pretty well rounded. There is a wide variety of reasons people are there wether it is to lose weight, build muscle, or shave off some time from their run. I'd recommend anyone who wants to acheive their fitness goals to give them a try.
Pros: Private Gym, parking, great trainers, near brown line stop
Cons: none
