Bad experience never resolved. I took a computer in for geek squad work, had to pay manufacturer to send out software after repair was ""complete."" Complained to Geek Squad and they did nothing. No longer my first choice for big ticket items.

I went in to get a stereo installed and was told it was complicated and required 2 hours to do an install in a lower compartment below the stock radio on a 2005 Accord because there was all of this wiring that had to be rerouted for the heat and a/c controls. Because of this it would cost double the normal install fee. I did not have two hours to sit and wait at the time so I went home read the Accord manual and started taking the console apart (I am an electrical engineer). The stereo came out easily and the heat and A/C wiring was all totally out of the way. There was no re-routing to do. I had never done this before and in 45 minutes the job was complete. The install manager had not told me the truth about the install and wanted to charge me double for what was a standard job. They have lost my business!

Customers should know what a waste of money the Best Buy Geek Squad Black Tie warranty is. All employees of Best Buy will spout almost word for word the same (obviously corporate taught them the speel) benefits of the extended warranty. There is fine print (I think it's on page 3) in the policy limiting the price of any replacement you will be given if you should be unfortunate enough to have to make use of the "Geek Squad Black Tie Warranty". When we bought a TV on Black Friday and purchased the warranty and had the audio go out in under 3 months, we called the "Geek Squad" who came out, saw the problem, told us it was a circuit board problem which could not be repaired. They said to return it to the store and we were given all the pertinent information to have it exchanged. At the store we were told that we could have a refund, a 42" (instead of the 55") TV, or pay the difference on the now full price item. DO NOT FALL FOR THEIR LINE selling the Black Tie warranty. They will not make good on what is being told to customers in order to sell the extended warranty.
