Coggin Creek Stables

I board my horse here now. Not the cheapest board around, but Brenda Coggin is a great instructor and really knows her stuff. She has shown at Worlds and helped me train my horse. There is an outdoor ring, indoor arena, and miles of trails. Boarders are friendly and few are under 18 - but the ones that are young are very mature anyway.

You can still use all amenities while there are lessons going on, which is really nice - at another local barn with an indoor you have to wait until the instructor and her student have left the ring in order to use it. There are no set hours, so if you don't get out of work until 9:00 sometimes like I do you can still go ride your horse. There is even a bathroom! lol

You can take private, semi-private, or group lessons in 30 minute or 1 hour increments. Prices are very reasonable. Brenda isn't a yeller or screamer either, she really helps students without intimidating them like some other local instructors... She must be doing something right though because her students are usually in the ribbons!

The only cons I can think of are the limited availability of private turnout, paddock footing isn't that great in winter, and general cleanliness of the barn.

It's a great atmosphere for your kids (or yourself) to learn about horses, and a nice safe place to board your horse though not the fanciest.
