Welcome to Katy.
Finally, an upscale, non-chain restaurant with very good food.
I didn't find the prices excessly pricey..Love it..

We celebrated our anniversary at Da Vinci last night, and we were both absolutely blown away one more time. Everything was absolutely cooked to perfection. Smoked salmon mousse for your bread as you seat, baked pear salad with gorgonzola cheese mixed with almonds in the blood orange dressing , warm figs stuffed with goat cheese and the halibut with lobster meat are out of this world. No question. The entire kitchen are on their game. The service was impeccable and extremely knowledgeable. Every attention to detail was made. We could not ask have asked for a more perfect evening and hope that ALL the staff at Da Vinci know how much they are appreciated by those of us that come there. Thanks also for the flambe desert who was prepared front of us for our anniversary. Good value.

I have now visited Da Vinci three times. Each time I had a wonderful meal. They have an asparagus appetizer that is the best thing I've ever tasted. Yes, even though I know you are not suppose to, I moaned when I ate it. The owner is very friendly and the staff couldn't be better. I'm going back tonight with my husband and tomorrow night with a friend.

I suspect the bad reviews are from competitors. My friends and relatives also love the place.

It doesn't deserve 1/2 a star. Mayo is the main ingrediant.
The staff is not professional, the wait time is too long. It doesn't take that long to microwave old leftovers. Marvin
Zindler please send one of your peeps to close their doors.

Ok so I tried Da Vinvi's the other night with my husband and decided I must get on the net and spread the word. I must start of by saying I love love love Italia! I lived in NYC with many great Italian ristorantes before moving to Katy and have spent some time in Florence and Rome, eating up great Italian food left and right. So, I have been looking for some truly great Italian food in the area for a while now. And finally I found it at Da Vinci's...it is simply put excellent, fresh, and authentic. I I feel like the other reviewer is a competitor or something. I mean I don't know but I am just saying, my experience couldn't of been further away from his.My husband got the lambshank and it melted off the bone like a lambshank absolutely must. And the sauce was delcate (ie anything but rancid) and yummy, yummy, yummy! I also had the creme brulee for dessert perfect. I ate spaghetti with marinera and meatballs. Wow! totally authentic and amazing marinera! Have the sorbet for dessert! Yummy again! Perfect ambiance for a date night or even family outing, intimate and the classic low lighting of a neighborhood style Italian place. I cannot say enough about this place. I will definitely be back again!!!! Basically, I am glad to have some great Italian food in the neighborhood.....finally!!!

Pros: Great food and Intimate Setting

Cons: None.

Stay away from the scallop appetizer. At $9 a plate (four scallops) I figured they would be fresh (shame on me for not asking). Instead, they were perfectly bland with no golden sear to mask the grainy and string texture of thawed shellfish. And they were about the size of a quarter (think U/20 or 30). On the plus side they were not overcooked. The lamb shank came with linguine in broth. The lamb melted off the bone. The broth for the linguine tasted bitter - as though herbs had been steeped for too long and gone rancid. The redfish sounded great but fell short. No big mishap ? just bland. The tortellini was also disappointing although the sauce was good. But how wrong can you go with a cheese, cream, and garlic sauce? The cr?me brulee had the most awful texture I have ever experienced. It would appear that the chef received squeeze bottles for Christmas because chocolate sauce was everywhere ? from the top of the cr?me brulee itself (Blasphemer!) to the plate underneath. Cr?me brulee is perfect decadence that needs no embellishment. The cheesecake reminded me of Naples in the summer ? very dry. The service was great but don?t be surprised if it takes a while for the initial meet and greet between server and table. The server is responsible for reciting a specials menu about a third as long as the regular menu (a slight exaggeration). The specials are written on a 3x2 ft. chalkboard propped up on a chair that is lugged around to each table but only when the server is done with the previous table and not helping the food runners. Bottom line, skip it. This is not the ?great hope? for authentic quality food in Katy.
