This gym is a special place. The vibe, the staff, the equipment, the trainers, great parking, open bright environment, really unique classes, with more to come, according to mgt after the first of the year. This gym has such a great friendly community feeling and the owner keeps making the place better and better. Ive never been a huge gym rat, but Iron has inspired me to get in the best shape of my life! I know this review seems to lay it on thick, but seriously, anybody looking for a gym in West La, should give it a try and you will see what I mean.

Seriously, this gym has everything you want, great staff, great members, new equipment, spacious and awesome classes.

Take it from me, I am the first to complain. I almost walked away from this place 4 months ago when the former manager decided to throw a regulation boxing ring in the middle of the place. But the ring is gone and so is the manager. I am really glad I stuck it out. Now the owner, Ken, runs the place and you will be able to tell he loves making the members happy.

I thought this gym was great before the boxing ring came along - but now they've really stepped it up a notch (seriously, to 5 star level). With the ring gone - the main level feels really spacious - and there's new equipment. Plus its the kind of equipment you only see in pro football training gyms, with pro-level trainers to show you how to use the stuff. The kind of equipment that changes the game of fitness... no other gym I have had access to has this level of equipment (I was a ACE certified pro trainer for years).

The atmosphere here is everything; the staff is really great and the trainers are not trying to "sell' you, like at other places. They take their time and really know their stuff. The boxing room is upgraded, there's more room upstairs too and the music is background level only. A boutique gym with private showers, purified water and towel service, plus you park and walk right in - what more could I want?

This gym is attention to detail at its best. Try it out, I promise, you won't be dissappointed.

Sincerely,

Peter

This gym really works for me. It's no frills and it's truly about being fit. You park outside and walk right in. It's small enough so you can get right to your class or your equipment for a great work out. I love Woody's boxervate class!! I have kids and can only work out a couple of times a week. This class is ideal for me since he changes it around and always provide a great cardio and muscle work out. I have truly learned the methodology in boxing and it is one of the greatest all around work outs have ever had. It keeps me in my 40's feeling like I still "have it". Thanks Woody!!!

This gym is simply an amazing place. Iron recently got beat up over a boxing ring they installed, but have since removed and the place really rocks now. Great selection of amazing classes, that apparently they are going to expand even further. Also love the great, friendly staff and the trainers all seem top notch and very open to helping even just to be nice. One of the cleanest gyms Ive ever been in and parking is so easy. Ive made a couple of cool girlfriends from this place and it seems that this gym has created a cool little community.

Ive belonged to this gym for about 6 months. In all honesty, I love the gym itself, but they installed this ridiculous boxing ring, that apparently was the workings of John, who is now the former manager. The ring is now gone! John has been fired and the owner, who is a great guy named Ken, has taken over the management. As a women who has worked out in gyms across the country, this is the best of the best. Atmosphere is second to none. the equipment rocks. There is a nice big open area for more functional training, which i prefer, and they have a very cool boxing room. Parking is excellent, and the staff is simply amazing. The boxing class with Woodie is one of the most amazingly unique fitness classes ive ever taken. He is truly a very motivating and warm individual. The feedback ive gotten on the trainers has been outstanding as well.

I've been a member at IRON since it opened. This is a great gym! The best space I've seen, not to mention the cleanest, with all kinds of high-tech amenities, as well as the basics. The personnel, trainers and the owner, John, make me feel like they are glad to see me when I walk in the door. I love working out there!

I know some people are upset at the recent addition of the boxing ring. Things may be a little out of order at the moment, but I know that IRON will make the new boxing ring feel as much as a part of the gym as everything else. Plus, it's kind of cool going to a gym with a boxing ring. Helps keep you motivated while working out. :)

This WAS a great gym and I have been a member for more than a year. I arrived for a workout this week to find a HUGE, regulation boxing ring right in the middle of the main floor. This is not a big gym, mind you, so it's as if the Starship Enterprise landed. Machines and free weights have been removed or shoved into corners to accommodate this behemoth.
I understand that they are changing their business model and in today's economy, one must do what one needs to do to stay alive. However, the space is cramped and truly unworkable.
I decided to cancel my membership. Now, they insist on charging me and additional $85 bucks because I am required to give 30 days notice. Nice way to treat long-time loyal customers and I am shouting it from the roof tops!

Ive always been a serious gym goer and have been to gyms all over the country. This is one of the best gyms ive ever workout in. Great layout, great unique equipment ive never seen in a gym. The best boxing room in a gym that wasnt a boxing gym as its primary. John, who runs the gym, is always there and is as friendly and as helpful as they come. Ive been training with Holly, who has really taken an interest in making me better and workingout is a pleasure. The vibe is awesome with a great sound system and flat screens throughout and it has 30' ceilings inside so its very comfortable. I can say enough about this place. Makes going to the gym much easier!

I work at Ucla Medical Center in Santa Monica and found this great new gym on 19th and broadway! The equipment is life fitness (the best) and every inch of this place is brand new! The trainers are second to non and classes (which is included with membership) are the best with yoga, bootcamp and boxing!

I just joined this great new gym after being a member of la fitness for the past 3 years. This place is literally brand new from head to toe! Great staff, the owner John Damon showed me around and we worked out a memberhship. If you are looking for a serious workout or just need a place to release, this is a must visit! Best gym in Santa Monica hands down.

Lockers rooms and showers are always clean! The personal trainer John Damon was great and offered a free training session on top of it all! I reccomond this new gym to everyone!

If you are interested in getting in shape and being around the best people in LA than Iron is for you. The equipment is State of the Art, the trainers are knowledgeable and willing to help if you have questions (even if you are not buying sessions). The best part of Iron is that you can go into the gym every day and do a different type of workout every day. They even have a full BOXING gym with actual boxers teaching classes & training. There is no gym in Los Angeles that offers as much as Iron.

I accidentally happen to cross this gym while in Santa Monica. It was very clean and open with amazing equipment I've never seen before. I was actually able to park behind the gym and walk in the front door so that was nice. The staff was friendly, bubbly and very helpful and answered all my questions. I really need to start my morning with positive people and I think IRON is the place to do that to keep me motivated to stay in shape! and feel great. I was very impressed with the over atmosphere at IRON very upscale and again I loved the open space plan.

I've been at Iron since August. It's right off the freeway, I come in from Encino and work near the beach, so I'm in and out. Love the...parking lot. In and out. Probably the only place within blocks with no meter. Iron has every weight I need, but the best part is the machines. New video track treadmills - I've been at Bodies in Motion and LA Fitness by the 405/101, Iron has tons better stuff. Great vibe, John's gr8 too.

I am a gym rat so finding a gym that truly impresses me is rather difficult. Newly opened Iron feels like a private gym that should be open only to the "LA celebrity" type, however upon walking in the door you are probably going to be greeted by the owner John Damon and though he's trained plenty of those celluloid stars, he is more likely to talk to you about his beloved Red Socks and crack a joke at his own expense as opposed to discuss what Kim K was wearing this morning.

Their facilities are immaculate, they have equipment I have never seen and when I have asked the in house trainers for advice they haven't batted an eye before responding with an informative answer and a smile.

I'd come here just for the boxing room, which feels like an old school NY gym. I half expected Mike Tyson to be standing in there wrapping his hands, but instead was given the best workout by the first young woman I have ever met who could probably talk Bernard Hopkins for hours and then laugh as she levels you with a hook.

This is a gym for people who are serious about their fitness, but not about life.

I have been training with John for over a year, and not only is he an amazing trainer, he has developed a gym that is truly the best in Los Angeles. I live in West Hollywood, and it is definitely worth the drive to the west side! The space is beautiful-- high ceilings and new equipment-- and the atmosphere is friendly and unpretentious, just as the best places should be. I truly enjoy every day I spend at IRON, and I always leave feeling better. I recommend IRON for anyone who loves to work out and truly appreciates attention to detail and working out in a comfortable and friendly environment!

p.s. I also think that everyone should train with John at least once-- his optimism, honesty, thoughtfulness and care will truly change not only your body, but also your life!

This is an amazing gym that I found on the West side of L.A.!!! The place is immaculately clean and is full of the top of the line equipment. I met some of the trainers there and they know a ton about personal training, which is hard to find. There is a big parking lot on-site that is free, so I was able to walk right into the gym from the parking lot out back. I definitely recommend this gym highly if you take fitness seriously and want more of a boutique feel, a clean environment and great training at your fingertips!

Finally a great gym with awesome in house trainers. Ive lived on the westside for years and always used a trainer and have never been happy with any of the other gym's trainers. Ive used two of the trainers at Iron, and without a doubt they are the best Ive ever had in 15 years. John is expensive, but he is really one of the best in the city. The sound system is by far the best ive heard in a gym and being a germaphobe , i really appreciate how unbelievably clean the place is.The girls working there are always wiping down the equipment. This place is a breath of fresh air!
