I agree, Mary Ellen and "LVBC" deserve NO stars. She owes me $1600.00, my story was on Get Jesse King 5 News: http://www.king5.com/news/consumer/Bridal-store-cant-cough-up-money-for-damaged-dress-96104689.html. I have collections after her now, but it has been a nearly a year since my whole ordeal started...

This business doesn't deserve even one star. We also have a judgement against Mary Ellen Tuttle! She never even ordered my daughter's wedding dress, but it didn't stop her from cashing our check for almost $1200. She has done this over and over again to brides - check the Yelp reviews. She closed her business and only a few weeks before the wedding did we find out what had happened. We filed a report with the Kirkland Police Department. I wish more people would do this that have been wronged by this con artist. The judge told me this is fraud and theft and she should be prosecuted.. A friend just let me know she is re-opening in the same location on Market Street. BUYER BEWARE!

Note to Jason H - I too got fleeced by Mary Ellen Tuttle not as a buyer, but as a consignor of very high end and hard to find vintage jewelry/handbags.I consigned some BEAUTIFUL items when it was Bridal Garden owned by Tonya. Unfortunately, Tonya, the former owner neglected to tell me that she sold the shop until AFTER it was sold and I was owed $1,000. Mary Ellen feigned SHOCK about owing me money and then seconds later, GUSHED about how beautiful my my items were and asked me to continue to consign them and that she would profile my items through having this sham of a trunk show. I spent hours preparing items for the "show" to which 1 buyer showed up. I didn't stay for the show as I was appalled by the lack of customers. 14 months later - no money and I confronted her in her new shop to where she gave me $100.00. I took it, cashed it and then won a judgment in small claims court. Jason - your review has spurred me to action and I now intend to send her to collection as I almost gave up - but I felt your anger and know how you feel. Wishing you the best of luck in your pursuit of this con artist and in your new marriage.

This shop took my money - thousands of dollars- and never delivered my dress. There is a reason that this store is having a re-opening. They could not pay their bills. They could not deliver their dresses and they had to close. I know I'm not the only one out there who waas ripped off. Don't let it happen to you. Check with the BBB before you go.

I bought a dress in May for a December wedding. Mary Ellen Tuttle wrote to let me know that the store was going to go out of buisness in September. By October, nobody could reach her and she refused to return e-mail. She asked me to trust her and then she exploited that trust. It is two weeks till my wedding, La Votre never delivered my dress and never gave the money back.

All DocsReview of Gown experience
Pros- one of few stores that carry Marisa bridal collection in Seattle.
Located on Eastside for those who live on the Eastside

Cons- VERY poor customer service. Inconsistent communication. Unable to be reached by phone (you have to leave a voicemail and maybe you??ll get a return call). Did not deliver gown on time (late June delivery and was delivered less than 2 weeks prior to wedding day). No apologies for missed timelines, just excuses. The owner and store was featured on the King 5 news in June for refusing to pay back a client even after a court order.

Putting together a wedding, even with a planner, can be exhausting. This is enough reason to not get your gown through someone that makes you hunt your own gown down by calling the designer themselves. It shows no respect for the bride and her schedule. Earlier conversations about the gown was full of ??rest assured? by Mary Ellen (store owner). The only thing I am sure of is that I would NOT recommend this store to anyone. No bride should go through this type of negligence by the store that she trusted with her wedding gown. Do not be fooled by her motherly voice and demeanor, she is a liar and full of excuses.

The dresses here are in the thousands. It is not a cheap place so you would think the service would be decent. David Bridal (where my flower girl and bridesmaid got their dresses) was so much more attentive than this little shop can even come close to. Looking through recent reviews, I am not alone in this. When looking for bridal stores- read recent reviews. Old reviews do nothing for the present. Good luck!

As for SeattleMOB's review and comment on another's- I'm glad to hear at least ONE bride and their family had a good experience.

My daughter and I found The Bridal Garden searching online for bridal gown shops after visiting La Belle Elaine's and I Do Bridal, which didn't impress us at all!
Liz O'Malley was very kind and professional with us and very attentive as my daughter described her dream dress. Liz pulled 5 or 6 that she thought might look beautiful on my daughter. I think the dress she ultimately selected was the first or second one she tried on! During the first visit we didn't order the dress, and we didn't feel pressured to order right away which made us feek very comfortable. We did return several months later for my daughter to try the dress on again to be sure it was "the one" - it was! Liz was very sweet and gentle with both my daughter and I, and my parents who were with us when we ordered the dress in late November.
When the dress was completed in late May we were not disappointed with it one bit! Liz shared in our joy, in fact!
I decided to have an outside alterations person do my daughter's bustle and hem and when I went into the new location on Market St location in mid June 2010, Mary Ellen Tuttle, the owner, was very gracious about my decision.
I would not hesitate to purchase a wedding gown, bridesmaids' dress, or flower girl dress from LVBC again! They have great designers not found elsewhere in the Seattle area and some very lovely dresses in a wide price range in beautiful fabrics, along with cool headpieces in a variety of styles as well!

My dress was entrusted to LVBC for cleaning and could not be worn in the state it came back in, there were 3 very noticeable scuff marks on the two front panels where the silk fibers were damaged, and these could be seen in any light. Additionally there was a stain across the back of the dress that was not there before. I asked for the name of the cleaner where the dress was sent to be cleaned, Mary Ellen (the "owner")could not tell me then, and needed time to look back at the records. The defendant offered to have her seamstress replace the front two panels, however not feeling comfortable with the quality of care taken with the gown, or the customer service, I wanted to do my own research on vendors to assure the dress was restored properly. I left the store that day with the dress, asked the defendant to email me with the information of the cleaner the dress was sent to and I would be in touch with her.

Friday the 12th, I presented Ms. Tuttle with the invoice for what it would cost to fix the dress using my preferred vendor (which she had comitted to in writing); the amount in total was $1533.00. She was unable to provide me with a check made out to the vendor at that time because the new company checks were on re-order, but they would arrive in two weeks and she would have them by the 25th of February. I decided to then go out of pocket in order for work to begin so the dress would be ready by March 10th. This story goes on and on, but I got Jesse Jones. This story aired on King 5 news yesterday: www.king5 /news/consumer/Get-Jesse-Opening-the-KING-5-mailbag-69811857.html

Cons: Extremely poor customer service and business practices.

From the moment we walk in to the shop, they made us feel as if my daughter was a princess. They were great with all her family coming up to view the gowns as many times as we wanted..When we had a problem with the veil it was no problem for you to fix it. Everyone there made all the dreams come true for my daughter and I ..When she explained what she wanted you found it..Thank you so much for making it a dream come true!

P.S. Your website is so cool.

I've been a bridesmaid several times and it's now my turn to finally try on the white dresses. I'll admit I went for the off-white, stark white just isn't my color. :) I had driven by La Votre on several occasions when I'm traipsing around downtown Kirkand. My future sister in law actually had an appointment here when she was dress shopping and although she did eventually get a dress elsewhere, she suggested that I definitely should stop in.

I went in with little expectation after working all day (and it was raining), so I wasn't in the best mood to go shopping, but wedding planning can make any new bride smile. The La Votre manager who greeted me - Liz - was quite pleasant. When I told her I had an appointment, she immediately knew who I was and offered me something to drink. After chatting for a bit about the beautiful space they have in Kirkland, we started talking about ideas of what I was looking for in a bridal gown.

We picked out a handful of gowns and she helped me get into the first one while we waited for my mom & sister to arrive. After trying on a handful of gowns, I found a new favorite. Yes, it may be a little less than double the price of the previous favorite, but I like it TEN TIMES as much. And it fits with minimal alterations needed! Erin was also very good to let us know what was and wasn't doable within our tight timeframe. I love her! Since we're planning a wedding within the next four months, it does limit the time I have to allow for a dress to arrive and to have it altered.

I highly recommend making an appointment with the ladies at La Votre!. It gives you a little more of a personal experience and it supports the local Seattle area businesses that really could use it in this economy.

I have had the worst possible experience at the Bridal Garden. Initially, everything seems wonderful, amazing: so easy! The alterations employees were terrible to work with, extremely unpleasant and unreliable. Both owners have been disgustingly irresponsible, unprofessional and dishonest. My dress ripped in 3 places on my wedding day and they have it now and have fixed it yet have not called me back to answer my questions or speak to me further about their responsibility. My dress was supposed to be cleaned 1 year ago and it is still in their shop DIRTY! They have been contacted by the Better Business Bureau regarding my complaint and have not had the decency to call me back!!! I am thoroughly APPAULED AT THE BRIDAL GARDEN.

I just got back from the Bridal Garden and was very impressed! The staff was great, the store was very nice and organized. I found 4 dresses i LOVED. I am taking my friends back with me to pick a final one. The staff was very nice and helped pick out gowns for me and also grabbed veils and broaches to help visualize. I have been to 4 bridal shops and this was the best! There dresses range from $1500- $5000, i found tons for around $1800.

The staff here seemed very friendly and helpful, but their dresses were extremely expensive (it was hard to find anything under $1000). For this reason I didn't stay too long, so I can't speak to their quality of service; but definitely avoid this store if you're on a budget.

I just got back from my first visit to the Bridal Garden. From the outside the store appears to be very tiny. I was surprised at the number of gowns that this boutique had once inside. They were having a large sample sale with couture gowns discounted 15%-75%! The employye with whomed I worked with was very friendly and helpful. I found a gown that I loved. I will go back!

The Bridal Garden is a refreshing salon indeed! After shopping in several other stores I was relieved to finally be greeted by sincere sales people who did not seem pushy or perturbed to be dealing with me. They were extremely helpful. Upon trying on several dresses and finding a few styles and types of materials that I liked the sales person helping me, Jennifer, was able to select similar gowns for me to try on. She was also helpful at selecting possible accessories and also informed me of several upcoming trunk shows. I did not end up purchasing my gown from them but did love my experiences at their salon!
