.

I visited the showroom and found a chair that I really liked (not a typical recliner, just a cool looking chair that happened to recline). It was on sale, although not a bargain I really liked the chair. The only one they had left was the floor model. It was a little worn but they assured me it hadn't been on the floor long and came with the same warranty as if it were brand new. When i got it home, the reclining mechanism wouldn't stay in the closed position, it kept reclining on its own. I also noticed a smell like urine or something coming from the chair.

I called the store and they took my info and said they would schedule a tech to come look at it. I waited a couple weeks for the tech to come and he said there wasn't much he could do and would have to submit the info to the service center and they would get back to me in 4-5 days. Three weeks later i still hadn't heard anything and tried repeatedly over several days to get through to their service center. On about the fifth try, someone finally answered the phone.

They agreed to take the chair back and give me a store credit. Wow, i've had the chair for less than two months, the darn thing is defective and the best they would do is grant me a store credit (that's only good for a month). When i went back into the store, they wanted to charge me another $200 plus for the same chair but with a different fabric because my fabric was discontinued. I would have to pay even more to choose a fabric that i liked.

I asked to speak to the manager and explained that i just wanted the original chair that i bought only one that works and doesn't stink. He was helpful but condescending. He acted like he was doing me a favor and said more than once that he was saving me money. I don't see how making the initial sale right equates to saving me money. Now i have a chair that i don't really like and have endured a long headache in getting it. La z boy stinks! Literally!
