Friday night reservations, seated on time, very noisy, small table off the main dining room. Service was pleasant but far from exceptional. The rotten fish smell coming from our mussel appetizer actually made adjacent dinners turn there

I've always had a good experience here. Steaks are decent, I would chose several places in the city over this place. On the other hand, ribs are very good and have always had a good burger here. Service has also been good. I'll be coming back and likely use my bonus money from my LEYE card here.

I've been to Wildfire a few times and have to admit they do a great job with a steak! It's so tender, I could literally cut it with my fork! If you're looking for a great steak, wildfire is the place to go!

The food at Wildfire is amazing. When you think steakhouse, you think quality is going to come at a high price. Not at Wildfire, in comparison to steakhouses like Capital Grill and Lawry's, Wildfire holds its own. Food cooked to your liking and cuts that are tender that they melt in your mouth.

Let me start with the best part: I ordered the filet medallions oscar and I COULD CUT IT WITH A BUTTER KNIFE! I have had meat that tender only one other time in my life. This was one of the best steaks I've ever had. Okay... now from the beginning...

We made reservations with 3 hours noticed and were seated at the time of our reservations. There wasn't much space to sit or gather but the host staff was very friendly and did offer the bar area for seating early. Our table was around the border of the dining room, which is square in shape with a raised border section over the lowered middle. We had a nice view of the bar and our table was perfect for 'people-watching'.

We each ordered flights of wine. I had the progressive and my fiance had the whites. The amount of wine in each glass was very generous - about a half a glass - and much more than the "shot" of wine that I have had in flights in the past. One of us had the barbecue chicken dish and the other had the filet medallions oscar. The medallions were SO tender and the portions were perfect. The filet was ordered rare, and a truly good rare seems to be hard to come by. Wildfire got it right. Other restaurants give you meat slightly well done and others seem to hand you something that isn't even warmed and somehow still frozen. This was a truly enjoyable cut and cooked filet.

The service was prompt. Nothing spectacular, nothing terrible. Just good, courteous service staff.

For me personally, I will go back again for one of the best steaks I've ever had.

My colleague and I needed a great steak to celebrate the end of a long week. I picked Wildfire because it was close to our hotel on State. St. I made the reservation through Wildfire's website for that same evening. In fact, I did it with less than 2 hours' notice. I'd go back again, regardless of where my hotel is in the future. I love a good steakhouse, and Wildfire is among the best I've experienced. The ambiance is classic upscale steakhouse. It's busy, but you can hear dinner companion without shouting. The service is prompt, professional, helpful and of a level I'd expect at a great steakhouse (think Morton's, Capital Grille, Smith & Wollensky...Wildfire is at least equal to any of those) The wine list is excellent, but it's really all about the food. My colleague pronounced her filet medallion the "best she's ever had, anywhere, anytime". My NY Strip was excellent, and the parmesan crust (Wildfire's trademark is their interesting seasoned bread crumb crusts--6 varieties) gave it an added flavor unlike i'd ever had before. The sides are shareable and terrific. The key lime pie for dessert was sublime.

Wildfire is outstanding, from the moment you enter until you stagger back out onto the street. If you're in downtown Chicago and you want a terrific steakhouse, Wildfire stands proudly with all the other better-known competitors. Give it a try. You'll be happy you did.

Haven't been to Wildfire in a while and after this weekend, I'm wondering why I don't come back more often. In a town of great steak, it's not easy to say "highly recommended" to just any chop house, but Wildfire does a great job and at a very good value. We had the cold plate with shrimp, lobster, mussels, ceviche which was a safe but good choice, not the best, but for the main course I had a 10oz prime rib with a side of au jous and horseradish which were great! Perfectly medium rare and warm by the time it was served. I had a side of button mushrooms which were perfectly seasoned and paired well with the meal. My date had a full rak of ribs which he enjoyed thoroughly. For dessert, we had the chocolate chip/pecan cookie baked in the pan to order with a dollop of vanilla ice cream which was a perfect, comforting end to a great dinner. Portions were large enough for left-overs which was even great a day later. Steaks average 20-high 30 dollars which is great for a steak -- compared to the other steakhouse down the street. Again, like every downtown/river north hot spot, make reservations a few days ahead.

Cons: Need reservations on weekends

I used to live in the Windy City and one of the places I really miss is Wildfire. It's got a great location (heart of downtown Chicago). It's got great ambiance & atmosphere - nicely lit, casual & not too crowded for a more personal experience. The food is awesome - portion sizes are plentiful. The bar is well stocked with good wine choices & the martini menu is a fan fave. Some of my favs were the cedar planked salmon, filet mignon, coconut shrimp and the red skin mashed potatoes. I've also heard good things about the ribs & creamed spinach. A reservation would help if you go on the weekends and/or plan a large table.

This is my favorite place to get a bone in ribeye. I wish they would expand to other cities as I no longer live in Chicago.

Pros: Great Steak

Cons: Nothing

The food was great but it's no Gibson?s or Kinzie Chop House quality. My biggest complaint was that it was hot, really hot. Maybe it was just that night. One other thing, when will restaurants realize that red wine is not supposed to be "room temperature" but CELLAR temperature (58 degrees). Nothing worse than 80 degree wine.

I am a New Yorker...which means you can pretty much stick "snob" at the end of my name when it comes to food. Supposedly, NYC has some of the best places to eat in the world. And while in many instances, particularly when it comes to hole-in-the-wall joints, this is true, lately it has been one dissappointing meal after the other. It is becoming the Washington, D.C. a place where you eat to be seen, and much less the place where going out to dinner is a national pasttime. Blame it on the transplants, I suppose. But, meals have been mediocre...service the same. But here in Chicago, I have had the best meal I can remember in a long time (other than Bravo, an Italian restaurant in Clevelands South Suburbs) The blue-cheese crusted steak was cooked to perfection--at an actual by-the-book medium temperature with a perfectly browned crust of maytag blue cheese. The vadalia onion crusted loaf of bread was perfectly warm and accompanied both my shrimp and crab bisque and my steak quite wonderfully. The only thing that was not perfect was my chocolate martini which tasted too much like a hershey bar--and even that was good. To top that all off I had a wonderfully knowledgable server who was attentive to my needs and honest in her reccommendations. Please, do yourself a favor. Skip the Palm or one of those other steak places reccommended to you by the hotel conceirge if you are visting the Chi, and go straight to the Wildfire!

For good comfort food that you won't be dissappointed by, Wilfire is great. The atmosphere and ambiance is comfortable. Enjoy good food in your jeans. I go here several times a year and I've never been dissappointed by the food once (even if I'm a vegetarian that eats fish, a pescatarian?). Go here for a family gathering or just to treat yourself to some good food.

I was traveling to Chicago and ate here based on the great views it received. The food was is very very good but my steak was quite salty and I love salt. So that disappointed me. Thankfully we also sat in a side dinner area becasue of the structure the main dinning area is very loud with people talking about and the bar located adjacently to the dinning area. All in all it was very good and I was happy but it really could have been better. If traveling to Chicago again I don't think I would eat there again-with all the great choices in that city I would try something else. Maybe my expectations were to high.

Although a tad corporate (Lettuce Entertain You owns about a zillion restaurants in Chicago) this is a great place. Their food is consistently good from their steaks to chicken to fish and their more causal salads and sandwiches. Their onion loaf to start is amazing as are their martinis. Service is always prompt and friendly.

My wife and I moved from Chicago area two years ago and miss many things. We miss Wildfire more than most of our friends in that area. Be prepared to wait if you don't have reservations.

Definetly try the medallion trio and several of their martinis. Also has a great Rat-pack style vibe that is a classy throwback.

After reading the reviews on city search we decided to make reservations at 7:45 Thursday. We were impressed with the atmosphere. We put in our drink orders and ordered the lobster bisque, scallops wrapped in bacon. The drinks took at least 20 minutes to arrive. The rye and coke was very watered down but my husbands Manhattan was good. The waiter asked us several times if we wanted more bread, but it never came.

It was over an hour before the waiter took our food order. It didnt take long to get the food after that. I ordered the prime rib medium-well and it arrived medium-rare. My husbands duck was above average. I let the waiter know about the prime rib and he comped a desert for us but everything was so slow we didnt get out of the restaurant until quarter to 10. The bill came to $99.

Went to Wildfire last Friday at 10:45; 15 min. before closing time. Service was still great as if the day was fresh. I had the waitress-recommended Wildfire Raspberry Cosmopiltan - So Good! The grilled chicken and mushroom skewers and the huge porterhouse steak were outstanding as well. Although the cheesecake left a little to be desired, I can't wait to go again!

We read the reviews on this site before going there on a Monday night. Everything was great. The food was wonderful, try the filet trio with your choice of crust, you won't be sorry. The waitress was helpful and attentive. We couldn't have asked for a better meal or service. We've been to Gibson's and the Chop House, the food here is equal to or better than either place. The service is far superior, no attitude or rudeness.

I had a first date here and it could not have been better. Firstly, being very tall (6'8"), and without asking, the maitre had us wait 2 minutes longer so we could have a large booth table instead of the small one. Very good of him. We both had drinks, apps, and fantastic steaks for around $70. We are still together and live in NYC. A steak dinner for 2 at $70 in NYC is unheard of. Went to Gibson's in Chicago on a return trip and it could not compare.

Nice place to go, however after being told by several of our friends to check this place out, we ultimately were sorely disappointed. Our appetizers and entree's were just "average" and the service was very rushed and gave us the feeling of being pushed out the door (sometimes food can come TOO fast...). The restaurant was VERY crowded and LOUD... we could hardly hear each other speaking across the small table we occupied. I really had hoped for better... and there are much better steaks to be had in the city. Overall, maybe it was just a bad night for Wildfire, but we probably won't go back.

We've eaten at every steakhouse in Chicago, and none of them can compare to Wildfire in terms of food quality, professionalism and service. Our waitress, Nicole was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the menu and winelist that we couldn't help but feel like we were the only people in the restaurant. Also, it's such a value that we come back as often as we can!

This was our first visit to Wildfire and what a great experience we had. The steaks were fantastic and the service we received was top notch. The NY strip was excellent with the horsradish crust. My wife had the beef medallions with horsradish, parmesan, and mushroom crusts. All we excellent. Appetizer, meals, 4 beers, and the white wine flights (4 sampler glasses of 4 different wines) ran the tab to about $100. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

The Horseradish Crusted Filet Mignon is by far the best steak I have ever eaten in my life!!! It's huge and worth every penny! I ate every last bite! Dont let the prices scare you - you get what you pay for and Wildfire won't dissapoint! There's also a Wildfire in Oak Brook Mall. Make reservations, you will still wait for your table, but the place is always insanely crowded and no reservations could leave you waiting for hours!

A wonderful resturant that I'll visit again often. The swordfish is incredible and the service was impeccable. For the qaulity of the food, it is reasonably priced. I did not have to ask for anything. We were seated right away and treated well until the moment we left the resturant. A wonderful resturant for a date or group of friends.

I can't believe that I would say it, but Wildfire was underpriced. For the meal I had, I would gladly have paid much more. Two entree's, one appetizer, and two glasses of wine came to $70.00. The atmosphere was spectacular. Make sure to reserve a booth off the main floor. These dimly lit areas are much more romantic than the busy crowed floor area. I also found the open air kitchen interesting as you can watch the chefs prepare your meal. The only negative thing I could determine is that there was almost a chain restraunt feel. but nothing like I have ever seen before

We had the greatest time at Wildfire. It came very highly recommended and it exceeded all of our standards. The ambiance, the service and the food were above and beyond. If you are in Chicago...visit Wildfire!!

Pros: Service, Ambiance, Steak

I was very pleased with the food, atmosphere and price of this restaurant. We went on a Saturday night and the service was great too. A short wait with reservations and we got a booth overlooking the main crowd. The wall to wall mirrors make the place seem huge and uncrowded. I've tried Ruth's Chris, Capital Grille, etc., but Wildfire is untouchable for value

We were here in October of 2003, and had the best possible experience of our lives at Wildfire! We are a newly re-united couple after 26 years of being apart and are more in love than we can even believe. Our dinner at Wildfire was one we will never forget! From the wonderful table they gave us to the spectacular food we ate and the great service we received it was just a wonderful experience! I will reccommend them to everyone and will come back as often as we can!! We were made to feel like royalty!

Pros: Worth every penny, Fantastic Food, Romance is the word

very pleased with the food at wildfire. ribs were great as was the house salad (served for 2). the creamed spinach is as good as berghoff's and the potatoes with vermont cheddar were decadent. not inexpensive but worthwhile. very good service-get there early as it gets very busy quickly.

Wildfire is a big room, teeming with people and they look happy -- for good reason. I like the "buzzy" feel without having to push my way through the crowd, and appreciate the professional, friendly and efficient wait and hosting staff -- the crowds verge on Great America proportions but you always feel like an individual customer and the service matches the (not cheap) prices. The food is great and the waitstaff is uniformly well educated in the menu and the short but thoughtful wine list (and if you show an interest in the pricier or more interesting stuff, they'll bring out the "secret" Captain's List of wines, which is where you'll find your best bets). One caveat is the use of "crusts" on the steaks, which I find to be overkill and moreover unnecessary -- no need to complement the fantastic flavor of the top-notch beef served at Wildfire.

Pros: 10+ waitstaff, "Buzz" and atmosphere, Smart wine list

Cons: Long waits, Salads a bit weak, Unexceptional dessert

This is one of the best restaurants around. It's consistently good, the food is well-prepared, and the atmosphere's a lot of fun. My only complaint: it's now WAY too popular/hard to get into!

The atmosphere was alright, the service was decent, but the steaks were absolutely delightful. I do not claim to be a steak expert, but at the very least, they were better than Morton's. They were succulent, tender, tasty, and cooked just right. My friends loved it, as well. I would highly recommend eating there.

Excellent service, excellent atmosphere and excellent food! The best filet mignon I have ever had. Paired with the creamed spinich and mashed potatoes (I shared with my husband) my taste buds couldn't have been happier. Not to mention a great chocolate martini and spunky ice cream sandwiches for dessert. Simply wonderful!!

All around best restaurant within 50 miles of the Loop. Would recommend to anyone searching for amazing "normal" food. With traditional dishes from Chicken to Seafood all will be pleased.

Wildfire is my favorite place in Chicago for Filet Mignon, Martinis and Key Lime Pie. Service if fantastic!

I have been to a lot of different steakhouses, both chains and local establishments and I was very impressed by Wildfire. The service was nearly flawless and I thought the food was excellent.

The prices are less than $25 a plate, so I believe it is great value. I would recommend this up-and-coming restaurant.

A campfire aroma from the wood-burning rotisserie, oven and grill pervades this classic interpretation of a '40s supper club. You'll find lots of stone with a sunken center section and higher booths flanking the perimeter. The space feels…
