Does anyone know where Juliet is working now? I don't know where else to go for a bikini wax. I'm lost.

I just received a telephone call from my stylist who has been there FOREVER, and this place (finally!) has closed. Ever since it changed from Pierre and Carlo, it has been disgusting. The last time I was there, it was dirty, falling

i am appaled by what is happening at Halcyon. When i was in the salon on Augiust 13th I asked the receptionist to schedule my appointemnts for the next several months. Together we set up my schedule for three months.

I was in the salon on September 16th with my daughter in law. i thought i would confirm . The receptionist informed me that there was nothing in the book for me......I scheduled again. the difference is this time I am not able to get my normal Saturday appointments because of her error. Oh well, at least I will be able to get a haircut.

I was back at the salon on September 18th for my monthly appointment. Something told me to ask about the future. I almost lost my mind!!

This is the third time I have spoken to the receptionist IN PERSON, FACE TO FACE about getting scheduled. OK, I start over again for the third (3) time. Only God knows if I will have an appointment for next month.

That is the first problem. Your receptionist is a representative and you have missed the mark completely. These girls are NOT interested.

I have about 15 minutes to wait. The lobby has four filthy chairs for the customers. I am not here for the ambiance. I am here to see Kathy. I have been a faithful follower of hers for over 20 years. I travel from New Jersey just to see Kathy. She is the best in your operation. My waiting is up and I start to wonder where is Paul.

Paul is Kathy's assistant and he takes very good care of her customers. I was waiting and waiting still no Paul. He usually offers coffe and makes you feel really comfortable. One of the other stylist offered to help Kathy by washing my hair. Where is Paul?

The stylist's assistant (Paul) is on the floor under the sinks and inside the panel, fixing a leak. OK that looks strange but things happen. I sit in a torn chair to get my hair washed and see a roach crawling up the wall.

I am outraged to think that this company has no respect for the employee or customer. The stylist is not supposed to sub as a plumber. the customer is supposed to feel pampered but how can that be when you have dirty furniture in the waiting room, roaches climbing the wall and old furniture stored within eyes view.

I love Kathy and will go wherever she works because she is that good. Halcyon on the other hand should be embarassed by their presentation.

Halcyon Days is AMAZING!!!! I read reviews online and did my research before choosing a salon and i am glad I choose Halcyon Days. I arrived about 15 minutes before my scheduled appointment and I was taken within 5 minutes of arriving. I went there today for my first brazilian wax ever and Nina did an amazing job. She could tell it was my first time and she calmed my nerves so much! She spoke to me during the entire time and made me feel so comfortable!! It was a bit painful at times, but that is to be expected. If you are ever entertaining the idea of getting a brazilian, go to Nina she is great. I will definitely be a regular now!!

Thanks Nina!!!

Ok...1st of all....
I posted my probs about all this to CITYSEARCH, and I believe, after my review/comment was brought to the attention of the Halcyon people--they got Citysearch, to REMOVE IT.
Amazing!
You tell me...after you read this-----if you don't think that's what happened.
I bought a spa session, type gift package for my wife, when it was P & C, back in Sept. The Urban Getaway. After the change of ownership, I went to get my hair cut, there, and asked the manager, (I think so anyway. At least, she was the spokeswoman I was referred to),..."What happens to these old Spa packages bought a few months ago from P & C?", I asked. She, (short, pretty, young and long brown wavy hair), told me as long as it is in their computers, which will last 1 yr, they will honor the gift cards from P & C. They had a similar $400 package. I was happy with her professional response. No problem.
Then, my wife finally had her chance to do the spa thing...and when she went to make that appt, she was told, Halcyon, doesn't honor a damn thing from the past owners.
What the hell, kind of professionalism is that?! Especially after, what I was told by the manager, not 2 months, after
the takeover. I wanted to know early what to do with that.
Where the heck did my money go? Halcyon, pockets?
Ya know----there are so many ways this is wrong.
1stly--At the very least----if my wife is forced to go to another P & C,,(God knows where that may be...since they all seem to have closed), will have to experience a new hairdresser, for the 1st time in 15 yrs. Not only that, Regina--her magnificent stylist, my wife has loved for all these years...and has been the ONLY one to touch her hair for all those years,,,,is summarily---gypped out of the money of a devoted customer.
Who the heck wants to foment that kind of attitude? What kind of customer service is that?
This was a gift to my wife, a staunch regular to one of Halcyon's most noted and written about and honored, stylist's.
Regina stayed after the takeover. Halcyon should be honored. Instead---they insist on stealing her money. AND---either rip me off of $400..(WHERE did that $$ go?!!)..and force my wife to a new stylist, somewhere, out there in P & C, land, wherever that is nowadays.
I do not know what the reasoning is behind all this. It all smells to me of......bad attitude. I'd say bad business... but....saying it is, "bad business", seems like a no brainer. It is as if, they are saying..."To hell with you people---who are still our customers, because you have dealt with P & C". Gosh....can that be more ironic?
The similar package of P& C's, Urban Getaway, at, Halcyon, is.......very similar, indeed.
That young, pretty manager, that told me P & C gift certificates, would be honored for a year---told me that.
It truly is a drop in their, proverbial, bucket.
And then....to RUB OUT my comments in Citysearch, (much, much, much less vociferous than this review), smacks of censorship.
I'm due there Friday, (4/30), to get my hair cut by Barbara.
I have been going to her for 20 years.for lots of reasons. I wrote a review about her, in Citysearch/Halcyon Days..(If you care...I was, like the 53rd review, on 10/24/07. Was in depth about Barbara). I actually turned on my wife to Regina...and damn....does my wife, ever come out of there looking good! Barbara and Regina are both fantastic. Both, always in print or awarded by someone. Both have been there for a while. For good reason.
And THIS....is how Halcyon treats their best stylist('s)??
You can bet, this Friday...I will make mention of this.
Where did my $400 go?
Where did my review in Citysearch go?
What is the big deal with doing something so right for so many good reasons?

I'll continue to go there, because of my devotion to the beautiful Barbara Lutz...but, as I ended in my,, now, purged, review in Citysearch...
"I will not buy so much as a comb, from this joint, beyond that".

I see my review, I sent to Citysearch, is here in this, "Insider Pages" site...(A few down...but I KNOW I sent that review to Citysearch). It is gone on that site. I want it BACK on there. My other review, of Barbara Lutz, (10/24/07),---IS still there on Citysearch.
Answer me this.
Why is THAT review still there?
Men thinks..., because it is glowing.
I'm thinking Halcyon doesn't want that, (or this), review, out there too far in cyberspace.
What the hell is the story there!?

Put that review back on Citysearch.

BEWARE - if you use the phone number of Pierre & Carlo you will not be able to reach the salon in the Bellevue. The new name is HALCYON DAYS. 215-546-1283. They took over the salon - they have a lot of experience on running a salon - New York, etc. They have the latest in color, Keratone, process, etc. The salon is being redone and will be the premier salon in the city. Heather is wonderful. They have brought in people from New York so they will have the best professional staff in the city.

I have been to and around some very inexpensive hair salons from many major cities, and I rate Pierre and Carlo as a 10 for service, great conversation, charm, sensitivity for my input, and much for the 'buck.' For coloring, you have to see "Chuckie." The compliments on my coloring have yet to end! He gave me exactly what I wanted given only a vague description. I usually pay $$$$$ for my coloring at another location in Philadelphia and for $$ Chuckie achieved the best result to date. Also, for eye-brows artfully and carefully done you must see Harrret! She has the most fabulous stories from her days as a professional make-up artist, be sure to ask about! (Harriet also still provides make-up services for events and productions so call in for her if you're in need for that, as well! ) I truly felt that I was being worked on by a true artist. She is very charming and genuinely interested. Pierre and Carlo will be my regular salon from here on! Thanks, guys, for everything!

I had a wonderful manicure from Stacy. She is very bubbly and talkative, and will put you at ease in an instant. Every detail of my hands was paid attention to, and she worked the tension right out of my hands. Her arm and hand massages were amazing and I didn't want it to end. I will continue to go back to her for more manicures in the future, and I am going to get a pedicure from her soon for my birthday

I was born with a unibrow. I could just imagine my stylist's horror when she saw them. Thankfully, I scheduled an appointment with Harriet. She skillfully made that horrible one into two amazingly perfect, celebrity worthy eyebrows. I wish I had known about her sooner. I highly recommend her to anyone who has had any type of eyebrow problems, from no eyebrows to plucked away to any other possible issue you could have. She can fix anything and everything.

I left my day at work in a state of distress, thankfully I had scheduled a massage directly afterwards. The massage was skillfully done, and the staff was super friendly. The ambiance was relaxing, and they had a large selection of products on hand. I found my new favorite brand, HEMP there, and couldn't be more pleased.

For my first time going to a waxing, I was suprisingly relaxed, I don't know if it was from the overall style of the salon or being put into such a knowledgeable staff members hands. Everything was completely comfortable and my embarressment quickly was erased due to the professional staff. No more being hairy for me.

Jason is a wonderful hairdresser and would highly recommend him. Yelena is great for waxing. However, be careful when you check in at the front desk because the staff tells you to have a seat and will inform then that you have arrived -- Well on at least three occassions i have expereicned that the snobby front desk girls do not bother to tell your hairdresser or manicurist or facialist that you have arrived. On one occassion my stylist was going to get a snack and looked at me in shock because he thought I was a "no show" after i had been waiting for 20 minutes. He had been waiting and no one told him i had arrived.

I was so excited to got with my niece and my sister n law for a woman's' day at the spa, our Xmas present. It was March 1st and it was a disaster from the start. Our app ts were at 10 AM , no one was there, salon dark and locked. Eight or more patrons waiting out in the lobby as well. No explanations, no apologizes. We were given an AVON manicure and pedicure, no spa gifts, nothing. I am so disappointed and would never , ever recommend this unprofessional staff and rudeness to anyone. How can you call yourself a Haute Couture Spa and use Avon on me. I could of went to a nail salon on the street and received a better mani/pedi. I was embarrassed that this was my present to my family.DO NOT WASTER YOUR MONEY!!!!

While visiting in Philadelphia my friend and I both got haircuts at this salon. My stylist was Penny Monteleone. I was so pleased with her work. It was a fantastic cut and th perfect style for my face. She is very experienced and was also a lot of fun. Where I live, I have a good stylist I am loyal to, but it was great to get something a little fresh and new! My current stylist also said Penny gave me a superior cut! I highly recommend Penny!

Penny knows how to color hair. I have been to every salon possible in the city. I've been to NYC as well. I was refered to Pierre and Carlo by a friend. She told me Penny is a great colorist there, boy was she right. Penny weaved 3 different colors in my hair and cut my hair the best way possible for my hair type. I've never gotten so may compliments on my hair . Penny sure knows hair, she told me she's been doing it over 25 years. I've never been so happy in all my life. The salon is very friendly. I am so glad I found Penny, Thanks Pierre and Carlo for a wonderful experience, I will be back and I will tell my friends about Penny

I am so glad I found Penny, Thanks Pierre and Carlo for a wonderful experience, I will be back and I will tell my friends about Penny

Pros: Penny is professional and very freindly and experienced

Cons: None

This salon is awesome. I just had my long hair cut into a funky bob by Kelly and it looks INCREDIBLE! I look about 10 years younger. (And I just had a baby so that's saying alot.) I'll definitely be coming back.

Touch of class- that's the only way I can describe the work of Raeleah (RAY-LEE-AH). Facial appearance is very important to me and the business that I'm in. For the past year and a half she has been treating my skin in such a way I can feel the benefits on the inside as well as the outside. Confidence is a key factor in being successful and so is appearance. I experience both after my monthly appointments. Being a middle aged male..(ok ok a tad above middle aged) doesn't mean your skin has to look or feel old! Trust me.. with the TOUCH OF CLASS that Rae provides.. feeling or looking old is not an option! Check it out, I'm sure you'll agree!!

I go to Pierre and Carlo for ALL my services. Hair, nails, waxing.. you name it. Everyone there is good but I frequently use CONNIE for manicures, LEXY and BARBARA for hair (cut, color, blowout - whichever), YELENA for facials, and JULIETTE for waxing. All the employees are friendly and welcoming and the desk girls always make me laugh. All in all I always have a pleasant experience and look forward to my appointments. This place is excellent!

Pros: Everything!

Cons: Street parking is hard to find, but they do validate for the parking garage.

After winning a gift card for the Urban Getaway($355 value including; facial, massage, lunch, manicure, pedicure, haircut, makeup) at a company function I was extremely excited. Everying was emazing with the exception of my haircut, the stylist did not fully listen to my when I said what I wanted I was highly upset, however the makeup I received afterwards cheered me up until...it came time to pay. I handed over my gift card and then I was told that there was only $100 on the card and that it expired at the end of the month. I was then yelled at and publically humiliated by Joe, whom I am told is the owner, after I explained that it was a gift card and he realized my name didn't match the one who supposedly bought the card he told me I had to pay the remaining balance and then gave me a certificate for a free manicure because of the mixup. He also recommended that I tell my company that someone was trying to get over on them in regards to the raffle prize. I had to shell out $255 I did not have, plus the money for tip and parking that I had already figured. I had to give poor tips to those who did a great job, due to the situation. When I got back to work the following week and explained what happened I was told I would be reimburse. When they found the receipt for the gift card and saw that it was indeed for the Urban Get Away Value..they called the salon and found out that it Pierre and Carlo's fault. I was told to call and ask for Stephanie as she had whitnessed the whole thing and she would put the money back on my credit card. I called and Joe answered, he was very short with me but got Stephanie on the phone. She was very helpful and the money was put back on my card. But the public humiliation and embarassment I felt can never be taken away. Most businesses would have offered me another Urban Getaway for free since it was their fault...but I was not offered this. And I would never recommend this spa and salon.

Cons: Chucky the stylist, and Joe the "owner" and his horrible business practices

Hi I just wanted to add to the other review someone posted about Barbara. I went to her after reading it and it is completely true she is amazing. She was able to fix my hair which was also destroyed from another salon. I am a platinum blond!

I am a Philadelphia business owner, my husband works for a prominent Philadelphia business owner, so this is disappointing for me to have to write this review. My husband and I received a spa day for a Christmas gift.
The first time I tried to make our appointment, I was treated rather rudely by a guy named "Joe" - chalked it up to the holiday and decided to call back the following week.
Called again - all booked - no big deal, I'll call after the holiday. Last Tuesday I called again and the woman who answered was very nice - we were to start with massage and she would make all the arrangements. When we arrived, we went back to the previously mentioned strange bathroom/changing room - together. Clean, but kind of a weird set up - np, it's the city, there are space issues.
Decent massage, no complaints, except that the therapist asked me what the massage was supposed to be. They seemed disorganized after the massage, as if our being there for a whole spa couples package was a surprise and not on their books. I had to remind them what we had, why we were there, what all was included ? for a Philadelphia Salon to not have their act together ? unbelievable to me.
My husband's stylist Kelly did a good job, but was a little short with me through a smile when I was trying to explain what my husband could not ? I wasn?t criticizing her. I waited and waited - no one came by to even greet me or say they were running behind. After having enough of managing my own spa day and after my husband's cut was done we left - but not without speaking to the manager first. My hair was greasy, I was agitated and he didn't offer to have someone trim my hair immediately, which is all I wanted - he was just trying to appease me by offering more free services ? I wanted to cry.

Now I have to figure out how our lovely friend about this experience and that that this isn't the type of gift she would want to give to a client. Highlight was Stacey the manicurist.

I'm really considering going there for my first brazilian wax, and I just wanted to ask a few questions of anyone who's gone there for that.... 1) are their prices the same as/close to the $50 advertised online? 2) are the services pretty good (my boyfriend's been away for two months soooo i'd like to go somewhere really good)... 3) anyone in particular i should ask for?

They need better hair stylist.
There attention should be more about hair.
I would not recommend this place to anyone.
I'm going to stick with the smaller mom and pop places
They give you there undivided attenetion

I have followed KELLY from Europe to the US. Her cuts are up-to-date; and easy to manage when traveling. She is always attentive to my haircolor - making changes that reflect changes in my life and lifestyle. I am a professional woman and Kelly understands my need to present a sophisticated but current look.

Now that KELLY is at PIERRE & CARLO; I also enjoy the attention of a welcoming, professional staff who provides the kind of service a busy woman needs. Thanks to you all.

AND BRAVO KELLY - your fabulous haircuts and color help me project the woman I want the world to see.

A pathetic hair cut for a huge price. Had an appointment after work at 6pm (the salon closes at 7). I think that was a big mistake as she seemed to be in a great hurry to finish up. When I took the appointment I informed the lady over the telephone that I have really thick hair and need some one experienced; so the lady receommended Maria who supposedly has 20 years of experience. Went for the appointment and told Maria that I want a style that would require less maintenance while it looked professional enough.
She recommended emphasizing my wavy hair instead of ironing it.Sounded like a plan to me. Went for a wash and came back, she trimmed it by an inch or so even though Iwanted it shorter; she told me it wouldn't look nice, so I kept quite. When I told her to make changes she told me to be happy with what I have as many people don't have hair! I don't really need to hear that. Can't wait for my hair to grow out of this

I went to Yelena for my first Brazilian and have been going to her ever since. For a service that can be a little "awkward," she makes you feel completely relaxed and comfortable. She does a great job removing hair quickly and with minimal pain. If you're considering getting a Brazilian for the first time or just want to try somewhere else, definitely book an appointment with her!

It was about three years ago when I first met Barbara. I came across an article about her in the Philadelphia Style magazine. I came to her in desperation. My hair was completely destroyed from a previous "bleach accident" at my former salon. Barbara some how managed to not only repair my hair but to do so without cutting a strand. I am now a regular of hers and she is the only one I trust with my hair. She is an artist. I have never met someone who is able to manipulate hair quite like her. I highly recommend her to anyone looking to revive their dead hair. She is excellent at correcting hair take it from me.

I live in NY but recently came to Philadelphia on business (and desperately needed a color touch up and cut before my meeting.) The concierge at the Bellevue recommended P&C and I was so happy with the experience. The salon was very nice but the real find was Kelly. Seriously, Kelly was so great? she matched my color perfectly and gave me the best haircut I have ever had. (And that includes my very expensive regular salon in Manhattan.) My only complaint is that Kelly doesn't work in NY!

After a recent disappointing haircut at a salon in Haddonfield, a friend recommended Kelly at Pierre and Carlo to me. What a difference an experienced stylist makes! I have long curlyish hair that I like to wear both curly and straight, and Kelly gave me a cut that looks perfect either way. She also recommended toning down my highlights which had gotten too brassy, and she added a special gloss treatment that made my hair look incredibly shiny. I have never gotten so many compliments on my hair before. I will definitely be coming back.

My girlfriend and I decided to take a much needed day at the spa to destress. It's located in the bottom of the Bellvue which is a beautiful building. The spa was fantastic it was so relaxing and everyone was so friendly. We had massages, facials and pedicures and everyone was thorough and very professional. We had such a great time we decided to do it once a month.

I took my girlfriend for a haircut and highlighting yesterday with a noon appointment. Thankfully, she was put into the hands of Jason, who has an excellent track record. He knew what to do with her hair and she looked amazing afterwards. The appointment lasted quite a while as Jason meticulously cut and highlighted her hair. It was worth the wait and the price tag. As in life, you get what you pay for. This was money well spent.

I had been going to the same stylist for 10 years and felt like I needed a change. It was hard to break away from my usual stylist but I was recommended to the salon by a friend. her hair always looks fantastic so I decided to try it. The staff here are fun and made me feel great. The girls at the desk are so friendly and accomadating. My hair came out so great and I feel like a new woman! I have found a new place for the next 20 years at least.

I had been searching for a hairstylist for several months after quitting my old salon due to long wait times and prices. It was trial & error but I finally the one for me! My new hair stylist is Jason and he is just wonderful!!! He gave me a great chic cut, listened and knew exactly how to enhance my look. My appt .started on time and the salon staff was friendly and professional. Jason is very experieinced and knows exactly what to do for your hair type. Products he used were also wonderful. My whole experience has been excellent. I'm now walking down the street w/ confidence :) and style. My haire is bouncy and shiny and the cut is of great precision. I am so glad I found him!!!!
Also would recommend facials by Alexis. She makes you feel so relaxed and comfortable .Very skilled and efficient . She is absolutely the best!!

I recently decided to give them a try....bad idea. They talk about all their "best of philly" awards, but what they don't tell you when they hang in the hair salon is that they're definitely not for hair. At a salon this expensive, even the most junior stylists they have should be good at what they do.

So I recently had a bad experience at Pierre and Carlo (flithy conditions, inept stylist and overall shabby atmosphere and quality) and so I wrote a review here expressing my opinion of their business. Today I find the review is gone and replaced by positive older reviews. Tsk tsk. To fail a client and to then hush up the truth of the 'Pierre and Carlo experience' is really just sad. But I guess that's what people have to do when their 'spa' is located in a subterranean food court. Really.
Only Pro: Yelena's waxing. She is great.

A friend sent me to see Harriet when I moved to Philly from New York. She told me that Harriet does the best brows on the East Coast and she was absolutely right. While the establishment resides in the basement of the Bellevue and isn't the most soothing of atmospheres, it is clean and staff is friendly. Harriet stays late, is always positive and friendly, and does my waxing with pride and precision. She uses a lip brush to apply the wax and has extreme attention to detail. Now that my friend has introduced me to Harriet, I can't imagine going anywhere else.

i hesitate to write this glowing review of YELENA, the best gd facialist in philadelphia because i don't want to share her! however, ladies and dudes who get facials, check her out. it's stupid how good she is!! my skin is damn near perfect. she is the best of the best.

also, okay listen...i've gotten a lot of massages. i think i've tried almost every spot in philadelphia but this is by far my favorite. HOWEVER. among the best, there's a new gal on the scene and my appointment ended up being with her today. go see shar. seriously, she's amazing. i left with jelly legs and wanting to see her like, next week already.

the salon also offers pedicures, manicures, hair stuff...a whole bunch of other spa treatments as well. if you have the means and a free afternoon, i highly recommend the best of philly package. go!

On Thursday, March 27, 2008, I have one of the worst Philadelphia experiences in my life. I visit the city two/three times a year for business and to enjoy family. I made the requisite appointment at Pierre and Carlo's knowing that my hotel was a short walk to the establishment from the gym. Business trips are frequently tiring, tightly and over scheduled, and leave little margin for error.
I arrived in jeans (clean albeit they were a tad sweaty from the walk-I feel almost compelled to mention this). There was an immediately sense of condescension and disrespect. The atmosphere descended into acrimony in just a few seconds. Susan (no, I didn't get a last name) was unfriendly, judgmental, critical and hyper vigilant about SERVING me. Her egregious berhaviors were exhibited in her inattentiveness, her absence of people skills, her complete lack of professionalism (wasn't she trained that familarity is not her purview), her carelessness in the performaces of her responsibilities(I had to have my brows redone when I arrived home), and in her inability to mask her absolute distain for me despite being well paid (and tipped)for her services. She's a paid employee and she had the temerity to attempt a series of questions that were far above her status as a paid employee! The expression "if you have to ask, you can't afford" didn't ask - could afford.
Pierre and Carlo's has a national reputation and I thought I would take advantage of that reputation. It's amazing to me that SUSAN made a value judgment, not knowing WHO I was, WHERE I came from, or WHAT I did. She simply reacted to the color of my skin. I won't list my (personal or professional) pedigrees, my accomplishments, or my titles. Thursday, I was a woman who needed her brows done and a bikini wax. How truly sad that the SUSANS are still able to find employment - not particularly advantageous when an establishment has a national reputation, Retrain or get rid of her!!!
