You will not regret visiting NOVA Headache and Chronic Pain center. For those of you who are in need of relief from shoulder issues, headaches or lower back pain, please set up an appt with Dr??s Green and Hayes as I can attest that their treatment programs work! Since my initial visit in mid February, I can honestly say that my headaches have significantly decreased, my shoulders feel more stable, and lower back pain has been reduced considerably.

I??ve have been to various chiropractors over the last 17 years and visiting Dr. Green and Hayes was the most positive experience. I??ve had 4 reconstructive rotator cuff shoulder surgeries and have been diagnosed with chronic lower back pain. I??ve always been active in sports and a self proclaimed nutrition/fitness enthusiast. Despite the pain of shoulder surgeries and years of physical therapy, I can??t seem to slow down my love for physical recreation.

Due to the shoulder surgeries and lower back pain, traditional spinal manipulation became too abrasive. I had to seek temporary relief through pain medication. So I began searching for a Chiropractor who uses the Pro Adjuster and was willing to appreciate my love of physical activity. Dr??s Green and Hayes created a winning combination.

After exchanging several emails with Dr. Green (yes, a Doctor who emails! sgreen4@cox.net), I set up the initial consultation. Dr. Green analyzed my x-rays and patient history to explain my injuries. The consultation about my condition and treatment increased my knowledge and understanding about how I could improve my condition.

Dr. Hayes??s knowledge of pressure points has helped reduce my headaches. She has also brought relief to my lower back and shoulders with a custom protocol for the Pro Adjuster. It is comforting to know that she and Dr. Green utilize the Pro Adjuster to relieve their own pain.

Dr. Green has also done a great job explaining the benefits of on sight physical therapy treatments. Doctors Green and Hayes care about their patients and are willing to invest in the best equipment in order to provide the best treatment.

Holy cow! I just got back from the chiropractor and I don't think that I felt this good in a long, long time. I actually can't believe I'm writing this but this treatment has made such a dramatic change in such a short time that I thought I should blog about it. If this lasts or gets even better I am going to be totally pumped. I have had three separate surgeries on my low back and it's left me in chronic pain. The surgeons say there is "nothing more they can do" for me and quite frankly I don't want them to touch me anymore. I have been under pain management for the last decade or so and I have to use opioids on a regular basis to control the pain. On referral from my doctor I was pointed to the NOVA Headache and Chronic Pain Center. I think my doctor is getting worried about all the medicine I am taking at this point. I was actually pretty amazed that she was going to refer me to the chiropractor!
When I came to the office I was greeted warmly and although the office felt kind of small in comparison to my other doctors, it also felt kind of homey. It didn't have that sterile atmosphere that you have in so many other doctors' offices. After filling out what seemed like too much paperwork to me, I was initially seen by Dr. Green. The guy seems to be genuinely concerned with my issues and I think for the first time I was actually talking to a doctor who had walk a mile in my shoes. Well, this is a change of pace for sure. I can't tell you the number of times I've been in doctor's offices and it seems that their eyes wander everywhere while I'm talking. You could just see in their expression that they think that I'm lying and I'm exaggerating my pain. This is not the case with Dr. Green; in fact, he seemed to anticipate some of the things that I was going to say in advance. This became clear when he shared some of his own personal story. Maybe I finally found somebody who understood what I was talking about in terms of pain.
After a long winded history, Dr. Green performed an extensive physical examination. Again, I have to say, Dr. Green was most thorough in his examination as compared to the other doctors I been to. In fact, he was doing things that I had never seen before and that's saying something because, as I said before I've seen way too many doctors! After the examination was finished Dr. Green introduced me to his partner Dr. Maureen M. Hayes.
Dr. Hayes was really nice and friendly too. She handled the "spinal analysis" portion of my visit. She has all these machines that are able to analyze the spine to its smallest level. She showed me how my spine was not moving at certain points based on the graph that was made by the machine. I don't know, to me it look like a bunch of squiggly lines but when she started to point out the patterns I sort of understood what she was saying. For sure I could tell "which one of these things did not belong" just like they say in Sesame Street. Anyway, Dr. Hayes said she wanted to find a baseline for me and so she began to use the same thing that she was analyzing me with to treat me. She uses a machine called a pro-adjuster. Kinda looks like a tuning fork attached to an engraving tool! I don't know if it was really doing anything because it seems so soft but I did feel it clicking and beeping and making computer noises. You know, it sort of feels like it's vibrating or something on your back not like a massage or anything but like super-fast tapping.
In any case, when the analysis and baseline was finished the doctors talked to me for a little bit more and told me that they were going to collaborate with their findings and put together a comprehensive program to see if they can get my pain to be reduced. In the meantime they told me to watch for any changes that I have felt from the baseline treatment. For sure I didn't think I was going to feel a thing. It was just too gentle. It was just super fast tapping. The weird thing is I had more mobility the second I got off the table! I know this because I was able to reach down and tie my shoes without making the usual grunting noises. OK, now that was weird!
Within an hour I was feeling better than I had felt in many years. Somehow the symptoms keep getting better to the point where I'm getting pretty excited about this and I thought I would write. If things keep going like this I'm going to be a new man before too long. I hope they do. All I can say for now is this is the best place I've been to yet. Let's see what happens three weeks from now. Fingers Crossed!

I had never heard of the ProAdjuster before coming to the NOVA Headache and Chronic Pain Center. However, as a person with repeated episodes of neck pain, and as one who has been under chiropractic care for many years, I am happy to report that the relief I experienced with just ONE ProAdjuster treatment was remarkable! I was able to breathe without feeling that spear-like pain that felt like my neck and shoulders were pinned together. All in all, a great experience with a compassionate set of doctors who truly seem to be in touch with their patient's.
Dr. Green was so understanding of my plight and really seemed to empathize with my issues during the examination and Dr. Hayes was completely focused in on treating the affected areas. The gizmo they use is very underwhelming and I thought this might just be a bit of hokum as I am used to a very physical adjustment, you know; hearing all the pops and feeling like the earth just moved under my feet! Well, this was NOT that for sure. The touch is so light that I was questioning whether this was actually doing anything. Dr. Hayes assured me that the popping was not a measure of the effectiveness of the treatment and she showed me on the graphs produced by the gizmo where my problem was before and how it was corrected after the treatment. More importantly folks- RELIEF!
