When I took the Digital 1 class with Jeffrey Rupp (owner and tutor at the Denver School of Photography) back in May 2010, I hoped to learn to take better pictures of my family. Now, I intend to set up my own family portrait business in 2011! Learning to use my DSLR camera in "Manual" opened up a beautiful new world of photography to me and Jeffrey teaches so much more than the basics (setting ISO, aperture, shutter speed, White Balance, metering, composition and the rule of thirds), including creative "light painting" and other fun techniques that push photography beyond a simple capture of events to real "art".

I am now taking Digital 2 with Jeffrey at the Denver School of Photography and I am being challenged again! Between classes, I spent so much time researching photography on the internet, it is refreshing to be back under Jeffrey's tuition, learning more than just mainstream what-everyone-else-does photography and being pushed to define my own creative artistic style.

Class sizes are small, so each person gets a lot of time to ask questions and Jeffrey never throws anyone out at the end of class, so students often stay later to get help with specific technical questions. Jeffrey really goes the extra mile, even inviting students to shoot with him on trips to the Botanic Gardens or Night shoots.

I already recommended The Denver School of Photography to my friends, one of whom just finished taking Digital 1 there and LOVED it! And another is saving up for a new DSLR camera so she can join in the fun!

I plan to take Photoshop courses with Jeffrey next, to vastly improve my post processing (ha! I didn??t even know what that meant a few months ago)!

If you are looking for help with using your DSLR to its full potential, or pushing your creative side with photography, then this is definitely for you!
