We have become regulars here. The food and service is wonderful. Live music, karaoke, and the best guacamole, made fresh right at your table. Give it a try, you will go back.

The place is decorated beatifully, a little more upscale than most mexican restaurants we have been to. The food was top notch. Donna always tries the Chile Relleno's when we visit a new mexican restaurant and they did not dissapoint. While some other restaurans use bell peppers for these they used real poblano peppers and they actuall made them like they do in Mexico. Guacamole was made right at our table and delicious. They had Trivia the night we were there and we played, it was a lot of fun. The restaurant was very busy. We will definately be back maybe on one of the nights they have Karaoke so I can try to sing.

i saw a lot of bad experiences here so i thought id add in my own

typically me and a group of friends meet in smyrna each sunday for a few hours, and we like to go to restaurants so we can eat. we typically eat at japanese restaurants, but the one we normally went to shut down, and another stopped opening on sundays. so we found mi tierra which was very close to one of the restaurants.

on our typical visits, we are seated very quickly, and the food always comes out quickly, even if its busy. the staff there has always been very friendly to us. i always get enchiladas and tacos at mexican places, and it ranks among the top ive had. ill be the first to admit its not the best in the world (the chips arent that hot, but the dips are quite good), but its still very good, and reasonably priced as well. i would recommend to anyone

I just got back from eating at Mi Tierra for the first time and it was great. The atmosphere and food are very similar to other Mexican restaurants, but my husband and I got our money's worth for the food we got. The only downside was that our stomach's could not hold it all. We did not have to wait long for anything, but we were not there at a busy time. The restaurant itself is not very large so that might be different during other times. Overall I am very satisfied and will definitely be dining here again.

Mi Tierra? Does that mean huge rip off in Spanish?
Over $14 for about 2 cups of Guacamole that tasted like jalapeno flavored cardboard. I will never waste money there again. Wish there were negative stars to award this overpriced establishment.

Business Response:

Our "Hand Made" Guacamole is the 3rd best selling item on our menu. It is made tableside with your direction as the ingredients are put in. Our Avocados are delivered fresh twice per week. Next time if the guacamole doesn't taste like you like it have them add the ingredients you like!

ive only gone here once and it was the most over-rated restraunt ive every been to. thumbs down !. first its very very hot , second the cooks were rude to my wife, and third the management would listen to me when they messed up my food. the only reason i went there to begin with is cause one of servers ( Samantha ) worked there but to my knowledge she quit cause they didnt pay her. so in all in all i would never recommend eating there to anyone.

We tried this restaurant last night and were impressed with the looks of the place. Patio was very pleasant and full when we drove up. While we did not have to wait to be seated, we did have to wait for our drinks and even longer for our food. I understand this place has not been open long and timing will probably improve. The food? Well, it did not inspire me to return. We were all served our rice and beans on separate plates from our meat dishes. Perhaps they should be served together so you cannot see what a small portion of rice and beans you are getting. My shrimp tasted as if it had just been picked from the ocean and placed on my plate. No seasoning. The others in my group had very bland tasting food as well. One of the fajita dishes (which did not arrive with the sizzling sound that is so wonderfully typical of this dish) at our table was left mostly untouched because of the lack of flavor. The tortillas were just as much a let down as the food. They were room temperature at best and tasted slightly under cooked. Coming from a home where they were made daily, it seemed these were not made fresh there. Mexican food should be full of flavor and taste good, and the aromas should make your mouth water. We did not experience any of this. While our waiter was fairly pleasant, we were not asked if we needed drink refills until it was evident that we were ready to leave. One other thing I found odd was that the waiter gave me the check rather than handing it to my husband or one of the other gentlemen at the table. Was it because I spoke Spanish and he thought my other half did not? I declined the offer for the Amigo Club as even if it gets me a discount, a whopping 5%, and a free meal on my birthday, it does not promise to get me great food. If this is your first attempt at Mexican food, I suggest you try a few different places before you settle for this one. Smyrna has a few really good places for Mexican food.

Our family tried Mi Tierra on 6-4-2010. Nice outdoor patio and the interior decor was nice also. We were seated quickly even though the restaurant was busy. After ordering, there was quite a long wait for our drinks and an additional wait for our cheese dip. The cheese dip was flavorful, though we didn't care for the chips. 2 of us ordered the fajitas which we agreed were a disappointment. Again, our entrees took a long time to arrive. It didn't seem that they cooked long enough or at a high enough temperature. The meat was cooked, but if my eyes were closed, I wouldn't be able to differentiate between the chicken and steak. Everything had a mild tomato taste. The dish was very watery and extremely bland, no caramelization of the veggies which were crudely cut. The tortillas were unusable, when I tried to roll them, they broke apart. They were cold, hard and doughy. It honestly appears that they were wrapped in foil but someone forgot to heat them. My side of rice and beans was good, the refried beans were creamy and tasty. Since I stopped eating the fajitas, I would have filled up on the chips and queso, but our basket of chips was never refilled. We won't be returning to Mi Tierra, but we will return to Cozumel. Even though there may be a wait at Cozumel and parking spaces can be in high demand, the service is outstanding and the food reliable with many very good dishes.

Our first visit to the restaurant was less than a week ago, but my family will return soon. The food is the best Mexican that we have had in the area bar none, and they also do table side guac. We sampled several dishes, and all were amazing. I especially enjoyed the fajita quesadilla. The staff was also very friendly, and the service was good.

The person who wrote the negative review went when the restaurant had just opened. I've been 3 times and it's a pleasant experience each time. The owner comes by our table and asks us how things are every time I go. Last night I saw them making guacamole right at someone's table with fresh avacados. I'm ordering that next time! The margaritas are yummy and it's walking distance from my house. Muy bien!

Hi Lydia,

I am sorry you had a bad experience. I can honestly say that we were overwhelmed yesterday, being the busiest day of the year for a mexican restaurant. It was also our grand opening so we had our hands full. I can also honestly say that while the service times we know were slower than we strive for due to this, we never heard your complaint about the food quality. We will make any order right if it is not delivered properly and would like for you to try us out again. Please ask for Arturo the next time you visit and we will see that you get the service you deserve. While we have had several issues as a new restaurant open for only 2 weeks with service times, especially on Cinco De mayo, we have not heard any complaints about the quality of the food. We will improve on our systems and service levels and hope that you give us another try.

I went to this restaurant on 5/5/10, The restaurant looked awesome, they nice patio, outdoor area, the decoration inside is really nice, you can see the kitchen from where you sit. Pretty cool I would say. But my experience there was horrible, I got there at 4:00pm and didnt get sitted until 4:20 but it wasnt because they were packed, it was because they forgot about us. They asked us to wait but didnt come back to tell us that our table was ready. Once we sit down, we didnt get the menu, nor we were asked about or drinks until 20m later, that we asked to be served. The food took forever to come out and everytime I ordered my next drink it would take about 10 minutes to get it, the waiter was retarded....he would walk by us and would not asked if we needed anything or nothing. My steak was burnt, and the rice was extra dry, margaritas were not sour they were sweet and the service was bad. I will never go back there again.

I was driving around on Almaville Road and saw this new restaurant under construction in the Publix shopping center.I went in and was impressed by the look of it. A step above most mexican restaurants and they are going to have an outdoor patio. They are not open yet but I'll try them when they are.
