I was sent here by my doctor to cure my aching knees. The front desk people are cordial but REALLY screwed up in regards to my insurance benefits. I was told I'd have great coverage and ended up with a huge bill after only 4 appointments which was very upsetting because I've been jobless for 2 months. Josh seemed OK personality-wise but struggled to answer my questions on how muscles work around my knees. My knee pain actually got a lot worse after 3 sessions and I was told "this is normal!". Are you kidding me?! This was annoying as these guys almost brag about being "doctors". After talking to a couple other people who went to this place for physical therapy it's obvious these are common issues. Save yourself and your money and go somewhere else.

I have had severe back pain on and off for most of my life, but last August it worsened and became constant. As a result, I lost my job and my health insurance and was in danger of having to drop out of college. Bridgetown Physical Therapy and Dr. Kernen were highly recommended by a friend but I was very skeptical. I had spent the past six months and all of my savings on chiropractic care, massage therapy and an orthopedic doctor who recommended surgery; I was in so much pain that if I had had insurance I would have had the surgery.

I had nothing to lose so I decided to try Bridgetown. I found the staff to be very friendly and professional, the office and therapy area clean and welcoming, and the equipment was in great condition. But more important than that, the care that I recieved from Dr. Kernen literally changed my life, for the rest of my life. Not only was he very thorough and knowledgeable, he took the time to really listen to me. The constant pain had taken a toll on me emotionally and mentally as well as physically and for the first time I felt that I was really being heard, it gave me hope.

Within the first two months I was able to walk upright for the first time in eight months, my pain was significantly reduced, I began to sleep longer than the normal hour before having to change positions, and I could put on my own socks again! Then in May, I sat through a two hour graduation ceremony and walked upright and pain free across the stage to recieve my diploma...I could not have done it without the care and training that I recieved at Bridgetown from Dr. Kernen.

Perhaps only somone who has experienced pain and then found relief can really understand the depth of my gratitude and I could go on and on, but I will say just one more thing: Dr. Kernen didn't just heal the immediate problem, he taught me how to care for my body and the specific back issues I have in such a way as to prevent future injuries. This is completely counterintuitive and counterproductive if viewed from a financial or business perspective; it is a true rarity and one that I think deserves recognition. It proved to me that Bridgetown Physical Therapy genuinely cares about their clients and is willing to invest in their lifelong wellbeing.

I was the type of person who thought "self-healing" was a way of life. When my body ached, I figured I was just sore from a previous workout until recently when my lower back was so painful I wasn't able to get out of bed. I finally made it to the Doctor and they prescribed pain medication but also requested physical therapy. The pain medication was not the answer and my back was still in tremendous pain. I had never received physical therapy in the past but had a close friend refer me to Bridgetown Physical Therapy and Training Studio so I requested my health care provider refer me to them, which was granted.

I had the pleasure of meeting the staff at Bridgetown PT when they first opened and everyone I have dealt with has exceeded my expectations. The staff is very polite and professional. The clinic has a great atmosphere with great resources and equipment. My appointments were with Josh (Dr. Josh), who from the very beginning was awesome to work with. My initial evaluation targeted on isolating the painful areas along with the level and duration of the pain. Also, since this affected my range of motion Josh took me through a model of strength and stretching tests.

These appointments made a world of difference for me. Through these sessions, my pain diminished, range of motion improved and strength increased from the techniques that Josh provided me. During my final PT session, Josh had given me some guidance on my exercise and workout schedule that he felt would increase my overall fitness goals. Since my sessions have completed and taking Josh's recommendations, I have lost approx. 20lbs and just signed up for my second 10K race since not being able to get out of bed. In addition, I have also participated in the "Training like the Pros" class that is offered at Bridgetown PT. I have never left class disappointed. This class pushes you both mentally and physically. It is truly amazing to see the people in class come back week after week, we all can't get enough, plus you workout with some terrific people. We used to travel from Sherwood to take this class, it was worth it (we now live closer).

Bridegetown PT and Training Studio stands apart from other clinics. The education and training credentials that the staff there have accumulated are extremely impressive. They are dedicated to their profession and provide a tremendous service to the Portland Metro community.

Cons: None.

I worked with Josh following a broken wrist. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed. Josh thoroughly explained the routine and reasons why the moves were beneficial. He really empowered me to continue therapy on my own. Since starting the weight routine I am feeling better and healthier than before. For sure know that I couldn??t have done this without Josh.

I knew Josh before he started Bridgetown PT. He helped me many moons ago with a shoulder injury that should have required surgery. I went to him in chronic, debilitating pain. In a matter of weeks, I was virtually pain-free.

I made sure to keep in touch with Josh, as he worked wonders on my shoulder. It's a good thing I did, because I ended up spraining my back! I was able to reconnect with him in his current location at Bridgetown. Where my primary care physician gave me a cursory once-over and multiple pain/muscle relaxer prescriptions, Josh got to the root of the problem and worked to get me better, not get me out the door. Once again, he proved his worth, as my back is in fine shape now. (Picking up my kids is a breeze!)

I've had the pleasure of training with Bridgetown in their "Training Like the Pros" seminars they host. Amazing workout. Once you get started on them, you get hooked. Great workout, and fantastic people.

I recommend Bridgetown and Josh to whomever I know with physical maladies. He's working wonders on my brother as we speak. Give these guys a shot, you absolutely will not regret it.

Cheers!

I spent five months rehabiliting my knee after ignoring a motorcycle injury for almost two years. What started as one knee slowly turned into two knees and an ankle after hobbling for 18 months. My muscles had atrophied and I was starting to have trouble with constant pain during normal activities.

One of the reasons I chose BPT was their holistic approach to recovery. Most therapists would concentrate on just the part of body that the patient is having problems with-- Josh tries to address the everything connected. He stresses physical fitness and strength training to help fully support rehabilitated bones, joints and muscles and decrease the possiblity of future injuries.

My recovery consisted of stretching, weight training, plyometrics and cardio work-- something I don't think you would get from another clinic.
The guys at Bridgetown seem to be on top of new techniques, studies and equipment in a way I haven't seen at other therapy clinics.

Though my knee will always be a challenge, I'm back to running and cycling with relatively little pain and am confident the program Josh has given me will continue to decrease the pain in my knee and strengthen everything that supports it.

They also offer very affordable personal training and specialized high-intensity work-out classes in the evenings. If you are looking for a scientific approach to recovery or personal training, this is the place to go.
