I cannot believed I actually wasted my money at this place. The pork was dry to the point of choking on it and lacked flavor. One type of mediocre at best BBQ sauce. The the peach cobbler was the nastiest thing I ever saw. They should be embarrassed for serving it. It was peach slop out of a can with some pieces of sugared dough added.
Do not go and waste you time and money.

Smoked pork is excellent, so is the bbq salad (get it with the pork and house dressing) fantastic and huge. Sides are great as well as dessert (pecan pie hot with butter on top). Very nice interior and great wait staff.

One of my favorite barbecue restaurants in the Atlanta area. Sauce is a bit sweeter than at many other places, and my wife just tolerates the place. But I really like it, as do a lot of other folks. I try to go there every couple of months.

Some good old fashioned bbq that fiulls you up. Great tasting, great portions and super service. Casual, just show up like you are and get a great meal that will have you coming back. This is a fun place to bring a date or the kids.

This is not the best place to go unless you like only BBQ. They don't have a variety on their menu. Not many salads. Just basically BBQ sandwhich or BBQ plate. The sauce is good and unique

i've been to the original location in Tuscaloosa over the years and had excellent ribs. Quality took a nose dive once the old man passed on & it became a chain. Every time i've eaten at other locations in Alabama & Georgia the ribs are either almost raw or overdone. The sauce has gotten very watery. Of course now that it is a chain they have decided to add some very mediocre additions such as sandwiches and chicken.

The ribs are quite tasty, as is the pulled pork. There sauce is fairly strong, it is a vinegar based sauce and has a little tang, but nothing to bad. They also make good bbq salads. Despite what the other reviews say, I have never had bad food or a problem with the servers or managment.

ordered the combo pork and chicken salad and when i got it, the chicken was pink, the pork was not only flavorless, but seemed like the nasty bits left at the end of the batch. They charged me an extra dollar for a side of dressing... I know why now, because they give it to you in a container for a small side. Now I have enough dressing to last all summer!

Most people go to Dreamland BBQ for the ribs (that's what they're most famous for), but I always get a barbecue chicken sandwich with slaw (it may not show up on the menu but you can still ask for it). The sandwich is pulled chicken on a big ol' hamburger bun with a couple of pickles, and is quite tasty. The slaw, though, is just about the best I've ever had!

Whenever our relatives from up North and Canada visit they all ask for the same thing...can we please go back to Dreamland BBQ!? Now these are ribs that you can believe in! Real BBQ taste with fresh cole slaw, mac & cheese or real baked beans....honest-to-goodness Southern flavor. Take your time, they don't rush you. But plan ahead to take home leftovers and save room for the deserts! Best banana pudding I have ever eaten since my Grandma's. Folks, you will just love this place...casual and hearty. Service was very good, too.

I gave this place a try about one year ago and found the food to be really bad. Nevertheless, I gave them a second chance over the weekend and I am sad to report that nothing has changed. While the service was fast and friendly the food was just awful! The BBQ Ribs were way over cooked and very very salty. It was so bad that I had to send it back and order a pork sandwich, which I found to tasty.

Had their ribs. Pretty bad quality meat. Burned pieces, very hard sharp bones, did not appear to be smoked but grilled. The rub was good but it just wasn't smoked properly. Couldn't detect the pink ring. Just gray. I got the feeling I had old ones precooked or something. Tough meat, had to pull the dry meat off the bones and was cutting my mouth over the charred, black bones. Never had ribs like this before so "ain't nothing like them anywhere" as their slogan indicates is right on. Really dissapointed as I was hoping for much better fare. Sides were good and the sauce was ok although I would have rather liked a preference instead of just their one signature sauce. Pretty arrogant to think that it's so good you don't need any other type. I would have preferred a hotter one. One bright spot was fast take out service. Didn't like the dim, cheap looking interior. Go to Famous Dave's, really miss not having Sonny's as it closed down the road and hence this trial.

On April 27th I dropped in for lunch, as I was eating my lunch, a member of management and a server were having a very loud discussion. It was very distracting to me and my family. I then looked up from my table and saw the server flip him the finger right out in the open and said some obscene words. I thought this was a good family restaurant that I could bring my young kids to enjoy lunch. After this episode, I will NOT be returning to dreamland and will pass this on to all of my family and friends!

The food is good, overpriced, but its the people that work there that make you not want to eat there. Not all, but I know that one manager named Jimmy is a real ***hole, and treats the other employees there horribly in front of the customers. And ever since they got a new GM, Larry, things just havent been the same. They are driving all their GOOD people away, not to mention their good customers. You are only as good as your employees, and the way they treat them, I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up just Jimmy and Larry, good luck then. Won't go back, and telling everyone I know how they treat people, and telling them NOT to spend their money there.

We pass by Dreamland BBQ all the time and the smell always makes us wish we had more time to stop in and eat - it always smells so "dreamy"! Well we finally had the chance to do just that the other day and we all wish we had just keep driving on down the road dreaming about it! Now we are dreaming about it but it's nightmares we're having now.

The tea was not all that - it wasn't done the right way like someone else mentioned in their review - too hot, not enough ice and tasted old. Though I will agree with the statement that the fries were done right, crispy on the outside soft on the inside. That's the only nice thing I have to say about the experience. The service - well how do you call it service when you have to go and hunt them down just to find out where the server is and the food? A 30 minute wait for 2 pulled pork sandwiches and an order of fries?!?

The pork tasted like someone had dropped a bottle of salt on it. But now after all 3 of us have spent the next day in the restroom unable to leave I wonder if all the salt was on it because they were trying to preserve old meat and make it last longer? Signature sauce? Is that what you call dressed up ketchup?

My advice is that if your driving past Dreamland and smell the wonderful aromas coming from there enjoy it because that's the only thing that's good about it! Keep dreaming of what it might taste like, I can guarantee your dreams will be a whole lot better than spending the day in the restroom! My husband is from Alabama and Dreamland in Alpharetta is giving Alabama a very, very, very bad name!

Pros: Smells great from OUTSIDE

Cons: Service, Food, Price - EVERYTHING

.

I've visited the Dreamland in Birmingham, and it was very good BBQ. So I assumed that their Alpharetta location would be equally (or close to) as good. I was very wrong.

The good: the sweet tea was done right, which seems to be a rarity nowadays. The fries were crunchy on the outside, and soft on the inside (perfect, to me). The service was fairly attentive, and there was plenty of seating (the place is very kid friendly). The do bring out a bunch of slices of Sunbeam and sauce for dipping, which I found to be tasty.

The bad: Just about everything else. The chicken was dry and tasteless. The ribs were the opposite of what ribs should be: I literally had to tear the meat off of the bone, and once I removed it I found it to be dry and very overcooked. Dousing it in their sauce helped (note that they served a Carolina style sauce, in case you particularly like or dislike that style) in a small way, but to me, good ribs shouldn't require sauce if they're done right. The pulled pork was a little better, but still required a large amount of sauce before I felt comfortable choking it down.

Overall, I'd recommend that you skip this place, unless you're in a bind. I'm sure that there are better BBQ joints to be had in Alpharetta (I haven't visited it, but I saw a Spiced Right just down the road). Oh, also note that they serve beer and wine only- no liquor to be had.

After seeing Dreamland?s highly rated reviews, we decided to give it a shot. It?s a normal BBQ place, but it?s really nothing special. I wasn?t very fond of their signature sauce, and because it?s the only sauce (other than ketchup) that they have, I was stuck with it. The chicken was alright, but no better than any smoked chicken I?ve had anywhere else. My boyfriend ordered a combo of some ribs and pulled pork and said the pork was dry, and the ribs were pretty tough.

Overall, the service was good and very fast, but the I?ve had better (and cheaper) BBQ elsewhere.

How can you not love an establishment that serves Sunbeam Sandwich Bread with a bowl of homemade barbecue sauce as an appetizer?!? The sandwiches and platters are beyond filling. The salads, with the house dressing (ranch + barbecue sauce), are HUGE and full of flavor. It has a very down-home feel. I recommend a LARGE glass of sweet tea.

Great ribs. If you're there during peak hours you might get a slab that's been cooked earlier. I just ask for a fresh slab.
I used to stop at the original locations in Birmingham and Tuscaloosa on business, so I was happy when they opened in Atlanta.

I was really anxious to go to Dreamland (ATL) after seeing a special on TV. I was disappointed. The service was excellent, but the food (ribs) were not what I expected, at all. They weren't falling off the bones, they were cold, not even warm, the ribs were too tough, however the fries and slaw were good. Maybe it is just the Dreamland BBQ in ATL, but I would not recommend it.

I used to be a regular patron at this location, however the pork was too grissled the past few times I visited and the last time I went I ordered the ribs thinking that couldn't possibly mess them up, but somehow they did it. Your best bet is to go to Slopes, Smokey Bones or Sonny's, trust me on this. I've made my last trip to Dreamland, now as far as Im concerned, Nightmareland.

Pros: Smells delicious

Cons: Tastes bad

.

The ribs were "above average". They's best when not drenched in the sauce...ask them to hold the sauce and just apply it at your table. The pork was moist and tasty. I found the side dishes only "adequate" with a bit of an "out of the can" taste. Their sauce tends to be more "spicy" than "flavorful" and really didn't improve the taste of the meat. I'll eat there again, but I prefer Slopes and Williams Bros over Dreamland.

This rating is made soley on the reputation of the Dreamland in Alabama. The restarant in Atlanta is not fit to carry the name. The Chopped Pork is extremely fatty with no smoke flavor. The service isn't great, and it is the most expensive BarBQue place I have ever been to.

This place is way to expensive for just decent BBQ. I think they might be ok if you haven't ever had really good BBQ and are not sure what you are tasting. Save you money (and it will be a lot, everything is a la cart) and go to Slopes, William Brothers or Fat Matts. This place is not worth the price.

My friends from Alabama swear by Dreamland, but they admit that the Roswell Georgia version of it falls far from the original. You pay several dollars more for food that is no better than any other bbq place.

If you like the Dreamland sauce (its a bit spicier than most places), that's probably the only thing its got going for it.

Slopes is right down the road and better, and the best BBQ in town is only a few miles away at Pappy Red's. If you want to be an educated BBQ consumer, stop in to Dreamland, but I doubt it will make your permanent bbq rotation.

The first 40 years, Dreamland survived on Pork Ribs alone. No stew, No slaw, No beans. I still think this is the best of Dreamland. Don't bother with the pulled-pork when you have these kinda' Ribs. That, and white bread dipped in their perfect sauce is all you need -- called a Rib Sandwich. Nothing else, thank you (though the beans are very tempting!).

I can only imagine the original shack in Tuscaloosa must be far better than this bland corporate version. It's far too expensive and you have to pay twice as much for stew as other sides. It's worth one visit to sample the oddball sauce, made with what could be turnip greens...?

i went to the dreamland in birmingham and the ribs were rubbery and terrible. almost the moment i sat down i was delivered my food which makes me think the food is precooked and not cooked to order...i complained but the waiters just stared at me blankly.

premier ribs with sauce in the world. no beef is a PRO, not a con. this is a rib joint. it ain't fancy, they have plastic bibs, and it's all about the sauce -- spicy and hot, slathered all over fabulous ribs. appetizers? white bread and sauce. this plays KICKS.

Pros: sauce, more sauce, ribs

Cons: too few in the area, not open at breakfast, need one every corner

The menu is VERY limited, as stated above. I ordered the combo platter for $8.99 which included ribs, pork, and 2 sides. The ribs were good, the stew was mediocre and had a plain tomato flavor to me, the baked beans were plain and sweet with molasses, and the pork bbq was disapointing (although a huge portion of it was received). No mention of different sauces on the menu nor by the waitress. And the sauce received was bland, probably so the older folks who patronize this place wouldn't get upset stomachs. Ribs and sandwiches alone are expensive, but the platters are fairly priced for the amount of food received. These are my opinions and I am not taking anything away from the previous messages. All bbq lovers have very different distinctive taste qualities and Dreamland did not satisfy me.

Pros: big portions

Cons: one sauce

Get the ribs and whitebread! Hey if you're hungry order a whole slab and if you're not real hungry order a slab and split it with a friend.

They are like the old chip commercial: You can't eat just one!

These ribs are simply the best that I have had in the Atlanta area. This rib shop originated outside the football stadium over in Tuscaloosa, Alabama where it is rumored that they love the sport of football - as well as good pork ribs. They seem to have found the best way of serving up both the pigskin and the pork rib. Thank goodness they brought over the secret to good ribs to the Atlanta area. Now, if they could only bring over their secret to winning football games....

I don't like Dreamland as I don't like the Carolina-Alabama vinegar based sauce at all. I also don't like getting slices of "Wonder bread" to put your 'cue on.

Franchised out from the original Dreamland, the spiffier Dreamland branches serve more side dishes than does the founding location in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. At the Atlanta locations---there are two---the seasoning on the meat seems to rely…
