Wow, I absolutely hate to write this update. We have been patients at this office for a long time and never had an issue (12 years!), until the last 3 visits, but each of the last 3 visits. I held back changing my reviews until today to give this office the benefit of the doubt. Here's what has changed: the office is WAY overbooked on both sides, major production style cleaning environment and the hours do not accommodate the school schedule in any way!

Ortho first: I tried to get an appointment today for my son who lost his retainer and the first available appointment after school was during Thanksgiving break (1 month away and we are out of town that week). The LAST appointment for retainers is 3pm ("to allow for drying time" - huh??? - isn't it fast dry stuff and can't it be sent out the next day?? duh!) which does not accommodate a single Pleasant Valley School District schedule and is practically impossible for Cam HIgh students unless you go on a random collegiate day. $280 for a replacement. She was very concerned that we pay at the time. Don't we always? 12 years and she has to say this after paying for braces up front?! I told her I would be transferring my other 2 sons for ortho work (her name was Cheryl or Sharon) and she said she was sorry! That's it.... Sorry to hear that. I'm so glad my 12 years of business means absolutely nothing to the office staff. (Boy has that changed!)

Dentists: They are completely overwhelmed and overbooked. Only 1 dentist scheduled per day to service 5-7 kids getting their teeth cleaned at a time? The patients are like cattle, for goodness sake. They must book 7 cleanings per hour for this 1 exhausted dentist. My last dentist had sweat on her forehead and was playing nice but SO RUSHED! For non-planned stuff, you are pretty much SOL. My middle son needed a tooth pulled and I had to escalate to an office manager. Originally they told me he had to wait 2 days when the poor dude couldn't wait 2 minutes! They finally did but it was literally pulling teeth. Then we sat on the sidelines waiting for our cattle call until she had a 3 minute opening and she pulled out the 2 teeth in 3 minutes. Wham, BAM! Then off to her next patient. This was almost the last straw but the office did come through but it was painful to say the least. This was the first time we had EVER needed unscheduled dental help. Problem is, you MUST leave time for things that are unplanned. They evidentally forgot that a patient is a patient inbetween cleanings.

I will be leaving this office and finding a new home for my 3 children but with a heavy heart. Lots of history here but they have definitely lost their way. Several people had told me about their bad experiences but I hadn't had any myself until the past 2 years.... It's really too bad because Dr. Pizza and Dr. Kaplan are talented and genuinely "cool". They should go into business together and offer better hours and service. Alternate Saturday mornings, for example, so we don't have to take our kids out of school. Don't the offices know by now that we can't take our kids out of school for appointments, especially as they get older? Why not resolve the conflict for families and schools? Don't they also have children? Don't all children need their doctors between regular visits at some point or another?
