I can??t speak highly enough of the staff and facility at Aspen Meadow VS in Longmont, CO. I??ve been to AMVS on two emergency visits for two different dogs, and now use them for specialized treatment for one of those dogs. Every staff member I worked with is caring, attentive, is quick to respond, and gives me tons of information and options. I also feel their prices are quite reasonable given their quality and quantity of service. Also note that AMVS is an active Green facility and veterinary practice. I??m fortunate to have such well-trained veterinary specialists, who are also eco-friendly, so close to home. It??s comforting to know that I don??t have to drive my ailing pet all the way up to the CSU College of Veterinary Medicine for quality care. That same level of care is right in Longmont.
I have visited Aspen Meadow Vet Clinic twice in the past year and can't be more grateful and appreciate for all that was done for my dogs (and me!)
Last year my older dog needed orthopedic surgery on her elbow. I was stressed beyond belief about anesthesia, her recovery, the effect of down-time on her very busy (cattle dog) mind, and her overall well-being. Dr. Rooney and his staff completed a difficult yet necessary surgical procedure and helped me create the best recovery plan for my dog. Two months later, she was back to running 3-4 miles a day and seven months later, she was back on 14ers with her sister and mom. We have been very grateful for the expertise and careful attention provided by Aspen Meadow.
Then, in June, my other dog had the unfortunate experience of swallowing a fish hook. (Not her fault, really, since it was power-baited and stuck in a bush.... how could she resist?) In a split second, she went from sniffing the trail to choking on a fishing line. I had Aspen Meadow's number saved in my phone, thanks to the other dog's previous surgery, so I called in a panic and explained my situation. We reached the car in 5 minutes and the clinic in 10, and two staff members greeted us at the door to take the dog immediately into the clinic. I was an emotional wreck, but they did everything they could to allay my fears and tend to my dog's needs. The procedure was VERY difficult, and to this day I am amazed at the diligence of Dr. Yaphe and her staff members. They scoped her esophagus for OVER AN HOUR and were successful in removing the hook. My dog needed to stay at the clinic for two nights, but I am delighted to say that she has fully recovered and is back to running and climbing peaks with her sister and mom.
I am eternally grateful for all that has been done for my dogs. Aspen Meadow Vet Specialists are outstanding and I recommend this clinic to anyone in need of the best pet care available.
Forty-eight hours ago my dog was struck by a rattlesnake. After arriving at Aspen, she received the urgent care required to save her life. While she spent the night there, I called many times for updates and the staff always took the time to post me on her progress.
I have no doubt that without the level of care and the expert administration of the necessary drugs, she would not be recuperating here right now.
AMVS exceeded our expectations. Dr. Matt Rooney and the staff at AMVS took excellent care of Aspen, my Standard Schnauzer. She had not only one, but two TPLO's performed there. When I started noticing a limp in her left rear leg, I found and took her to Dr. Rooney. Four months later her other CCL went requiring another surgery. I was impressed with the personalized care of the staff. We received a call right after each surgery and were encouraged to call throughout her overnight stay at the hospital (it was as if Aspen had her own personal nurse). When released, we received a comprehensive package of information plus several phone calls the first couple weeks to be sure everything was going well. I am happy to report that Aspen is back in the agility ring - the sport she LOVES so much. We have completed her master level titles and now working toward her MACH (Master Agility Championship). She continues to run as fast as she did before the surgeries and is within the top 1/3 of her class in time. We couldn't be more thrilled with AMVS, their knowledge, care, and expertise. THANK YOU!
I love the care and concern I received when my dog was brought here for an emergency. I could call anytime and her nurse was available with an up-to-date report. Her doctor/surgeon called each morning to bring me up-to-date on what was going on and what was planned - yes - these are both things you should expect with emergency care - or care in general, but you usually do not get it - some people say this place is expensive --- I don't mind paying for something if I get what I paid for and I feel I did. My dog is now healing and getting back to as normal as she can. I was given all the options and I chose the road to take with her. I even got pictures showing me how she was doing - that helps tremendously to actually see your pet when it is in such a traumatic state. I highly recommend Aspen Meadow - their entire staff was welcoming, sympathetic and caring and next to skill, bed manner is important.
WAY TOO EXPENSIVE!!!
AVOID!!
Show Me The Money
These are all titles from other reviews. Trust them and me this place is to be avoided.

We took our mothers dog in as he had been getting progressively sicker and Aspen Meadow Veterinary Specialists were very helpful working with us, providing options to allow us to stabilize our mothers dog until his regular veterinarian was available to see him. Aspen Meadow Veterinary Specialists even called us to check in over the long weekend to make sure the dog okay. All the staff members were extremely kind, helpful and understanding despite several emergency cases that came in while we were there including one pet owner passing out in the waiting room and the EMT's presence being required.
Aspen Meadow Veterinary Specialists were amazing!!! They are some of the most compassionate people I have ever met! They truly do care about the pets and their families! We were given all the treatment options possible, an estimate (high and low) on price and affordable payment options! I don't know what we would have done without all your care! Thank you!

Wow! They are SO GREAT!! Probably the best veterinary experience I've had in my 30+ years of dog ownership. The staff is incredibly compassionate, thorough, professional, kind and understanding and amazingly skilled and talented. Our dog just went through a very traumatic ordeal and we are certain she was in the best care available with Aspen Meadow and is now home and recovering at an astonishing rate. If you want the best for your animal, go here!!!
We have used the Aspen Meadow Veterinary Specialists in Longmont for both of our dogs over the past 2 years and have been so impressed with the friendly, customer service oriented staff, who has always treated us and our pets with the utmost care and compassion. We a particularly blessed to have Dr. Duerr as our surgeon and would not consider using another facility. He is a compassionate, passionate and skilled professional who explores all the options in order to give the best care possible.
We would recommend Aspen Meadow Veterinary Specialists in Longmont highly if you are ever faced with having a pet who needs surgery.
As for those who think the price is too high, yes these were expensive surgeries for us too HOWEVER, every effort was made to keep the costs as low as possible AND if you as a human had to have the same procedures done it would look like pennies in comparison, yet vets have even longer years in school than medical doctors. My girls are worth the expense to keep them healthy, happy and with good quality of life. By the way, I think the green aspect of the building is a great service to the communtiy.
I took my dog there for the ER. They did $1500 worth of tests and didn't find anything wrong. Then they wanted me to pay over $3000 for him to get more test and possibly stay over another 1 - 2 days. After we insisted that he come home with medications until the test results came back, they found out it was just an infection that the antibiotics could help. Why they needed to run expensive tests for cancer, etc. without seeing if the antibiotics would help first is beyond me. Cancer is not something that cannot wait one day or am I wrong. There billing is all messed up as well. I called to ask what exactly I was paying for and the lady sounded like she was irritated with me. Sorry that I spent $2500 and I want to know what it was for. The vets were nice but I just don't agree with the way they run the business. I would not go there.

My dog and I came in with a burst scent gland. He is seeping blood and we have been waiting in the room to see the vet for an hour and a half. Still waiting, still bleeding, writing this as we wait.
It's all about the money to them!
They didn't even act like they cared about my pet.
I felt like I was at a used car lot with them bringing all the estimates for "care". They made it seem like it was an urgent, TREATMENT RIGHT NOW case. Once we agreed the tech continued to go over what we needed to do the next day instead of providing the "URGENT" treatment. More of a sales office vs a care office.
This guys 'green' clinic in Longmont will only compound your problems!!! The overhead must be huge on the facility because his prices are OUTRAGEOUS. He is also associated with Alpen Glow in Boulder. IT IS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY!!!!!! Believe the bad reviews you read about these guys. I had an emergency and I went in late at night despite the negative comments I had read. I should have gone the extra distance to ANYWHERE BUT HERE!!!! They exploit situations and know how to play it to get every penny they can out of you. I have never left a bad review before but due to the associated costs I felt I had to warn others.
After many months, always too many with a sick pet and many dollars, we stopped counting after $1000. Our never ill border collie mix reccurrent UTIs are solved. We have a diagnosis and plan of care ! All with one visit to Aspen Meadows Vet Hospital and Dr Yaphe. Many Thanks ! Diane G. and family.
AMVS sent me condolence cards when I lost my pet Princess. Their individual notes showed they had attended to her thoughtfully and appreciated her personality. I knew that already because I observed and felt their kindness (and competence) during the time Princess and I were with them. I have had only one other experience with an emergency vet before and it was the opposite of my experience with AMVS. I still feel traumatized by it, and so I really appreciated AMVS' sensitivity. I have told my regular vet in Boulder about this and told them to refer their patients to AMVS. Princess was very special and I miss her.
Dr. Wendy and her staff were so kind with their cards and notes to me. It meant so much to us that Sitka was so appreciated in the short time she was with them. They provided excellent care before and after Sitka passed on. She was the light of our life and it has been a numbing experience to not have her with us. My thanks and gratitude go out to AMVS.
I was very grateful for everything they did for my pets there.. They were attentive kind and helpful. There are no words to express how thankful I am. They do a wonderful job for pets in general, the world needs more people like them for the benefit of pets everywhere. AMVS is great!
AMVS is all about kindness, compassion, and dedication. In what was a very difficult time for us, we found the Longmont clinic to be a blessing. Dr. Yaphe's sensitive and reassuring presence was very much appreciated in Sunshine's last moments with us. The staff at both Boulder and Longmont are exemplar. Dr. Might and Amy Slone were a godsend. In Sunshine's last days, Dr. Might was everything for us. His treatment for Sunshine was a blessing He was always available, even as his wife was nearing the birth of their child. Sunshine meant so much to us. He was our friend, our companion, and our love. When we adopted Sunshine at the Longmont Humane Society, the counselor told us to have a "wonderful life together"-------and we did. With gratitude-Gordon & Lola
Bailey, Henry, and I cannot thank Dr. Rooney and his staff enough for everything they have done to make Bailey well. Bailey is a happy dog now, and they made it so we can enjoy her and have fun with her. Everyone in the practice is so kind and very caring. Special people like them make the world a brighter place! Sincerely, Linda, Henry, and Bailey
We brought our dog in for a cut paw, the quote they gave us was almost $800 for stitches. When we told the vet tech we could not afford that, she came back with another quote for $500. We told her to forget it, there was no possible way we could do it. She then asked us how much money we had, I told her I had $180 in the bank. She came back with a quote for $176. Said the dog did not need stitches afterall, just a little tissue glue and a bandage, and she would be fine! I felt like I was buying a used car. Oh, and we NEVER saw the vet the entire 2 hours we were there, they just kept sending a tech back and forth We were the only ones there , so it's not like the y were busy. Just kept us waiting and guessing. If you can wait till morning and take your dog to a normal vet, I would say do not go here!
