I was recently diagnosed with Hashimoto's by my primary care physician and was scared and concerned about how to proceed. I found Dr. Patel online and read her bio and thought I would give her practice a try since it specifically mentioned by disorder was one of their treatment areas. She was GREAT! So down to earth, spent so much time with me, fully explained everything on a level I could understand and completely reassured me and calmed me down. She is helping me manage the disorder, and plans to check in with me in 6 weeks to see how things are going. Great experience and I look forward to working with her more in the future!!!

Dr. Patel is amazing. Her care has moved me further in my return to health than I thought possible. I had a partial thyroidectomy in 2007 and started synthroid following the surgery. My endocrinologist at the time (not Dr. Patel) believed that the low dose I was on would be enough for me to return to health and to lose the weight i had gained due to 2.5 years worth of undiagnosed hypothyroid. At first I lost weight, but then it plateaued and then I started to gain very slowly and the weight would not come off. Over the next 2 years, I gained almost 100 lbs and my original endocrinologist wouldn't change my meds or adjust anything except to tell me to eat less and exercise more.

After reaching a weight and a level of frustrationI had never thought I would see, I started searching for a new endocrinologist. Initially I was hoping to see Dr. Fasy, another physician in the same practice, but she was booked for months. Dr. Patel was new to the practice and had an open schedule. I figured I'd give it a shot and if I didn't like her I'd try a different doctor in the practice. Dr. Patel was the BEST decision I ever made. I'm relatively young and so is she so she easily understood how 100 extra lbs would change my life. I showed her a picture of what I looked like 5 years ago before the trouble with my thyroid and it nearly brought her to tears to see where I was now. She couldn't believe that my previous doctor wouldn't even discuss changing my medicine. She spent at least an hour with me in my first appointment talking about what different methods we could use to get my thyroid under control and how to get my weight back down. I'd never had a doctor spend that time with me just talking. She really listened and paid attention and came up with a plan that we both felt good about. At my 3 month follow up, she noticed my slight weight loss before the nurse ever weighed me and noticed that I'd gotten a haircut and complimented me on it. Although not a big deal, it definitely made me feel like she genuinely cares about her patients. Like I said, I think she's young enough that she hasn't become jaded. I've never looked forward to a doctor's appointment before and with Dr. Patel I do.
