First off, Big up's to Hapa, Ver5e, Fortified, Dynamix, Denkym, Dill, Christian, and the whole Scratch Staff. Yo hear me when I say that they know the real deal of mixing music. They won't teach you a style but strongly push the idea of you being more creative with music. And if that's what you want to do, than this is your new home. Fundamentals are a must and they will break them down for you in the simplest fashion. You will get what you put into it, so go in with a passionate outlook on music and they will take care of you. I'm talking all ages, get in there and truly know what you're doing behind the decks!!! Peace...A GRADUATE!!!

a friend of mine that i reccomended to take a dj class at scratch class let me know that there was a negative comment here on the academy and i had to come post. the comments below couldnt be more off base! now, i understand that everyone's experience is unique, but me, and im sure the group of people i went thru all three courses with, would beg to differ. first, being a female struggling to teach myself (or worse, male friends that had no idea how to explain how to mix) with a turntable set that i aquired, i was weary about taking a class with a group of strangers. the academy manager put me at ease, and rather than throw me in a class after a conversation on the phone, he suggested i attend a free class which preceeded the graduation ceremony for students. i felt even better when i was received by over 50 students that had completed their courses, and were doing exhibitions. everyone was so delighted they got their "first gig" out of the way, performing on stage in front of friends and family - and weary people like me. i signed up on the spot, partly because it was apparent that there was a strong sense of community. while i am no longer taking classes, 6 months later, im putting together my first demo mixtape! Some of my classmates have house party gigs and ive managed to make some really great friends from all walks of life. learning how to DJ has been one of the greatest things in my life, and i wouldn't be here were it not for DJ Hapa, Elseware, Val, and all of the staff that has spent tireless
