This company hires college graduates with no experience in Insurance. And since there is no such thing as a degree in Insurance, you have people with no experience handling your business. Thus you are dealing people who are incompetent and even stupid because they have no common sense.

SCIF is suppose to stand for State Compensation Insurance Fund. But I wonder if maybe SCIF should really stand for State Crappy Insurance Fund.

And I have seen this incompetency first hand where someone I knew 20 years back was charge by SCIF at 33% of what the actual premium should be. And this person is lucky as it could have been the other way around where this person could have been charge 200% over what they should have been charge.

Thus you can be over charge 200% by SCIF, not because they are trying to rip you off, because of their incompetent staff of college graduate with no experience.

The only other choice would be Private Insurance Companies where many of them are crooked, except for the rare existence of the Not for Profit Mutual Insurance Companies that does not have the motivation of Profits to cheat you.

My only recommendation would be to try Self Insurance. If you are a big company with many employees, Self Insurance is easy. But if you are a small company, you don't large number employees to average out the risk thus you should try Group Self Insurance. Try contacting your trade association about Group Self Insurance.

And if you are in California, try the State of California Self Insurance page below:

Or you can try to find a decent Mutual Insurance Company, which is the equivalent of a Credit Union for the Insurance Industry. For a general idea of what a Mutual Insurance Company is about, go to the following link

If you decide not to go Self Insurance or get Insurance from a Not for Profit Mutual Insurance Company, then you have to decide which is worst. Crookedness or Crappiness.
