I love my time that I have there - it's always very clean,
and the girls at the counters are always very friendly and knowledgeable. When I go tan - it's my quite time, and they help provide that for me. I would recomend them to everyone.
This is quite possibly the worst tanning center that I have ever visited! The girls that work there act like mean sorority girls rather than employees of a tanning salon. The vast majority of them have little to no knowledge of the product or services that they are paid to sell and few maintain any shred of professionalism. Young girls behind a counter smacking their gum against their lips like cows mouthing off about this class, that homework, bitching about boys or issues at work, if a messy, unprofessional, lazy, ignorant rude sales staff is what you are looking for in a tanning salon then this is the right company for you, however if you want to give your business to a tanning salon that will actually earn it I suggest you go somewhere else!
I used to do Mystic Tan, but their machine was broken and I was forced to try something else. That's when I discovered Calif Sun Ctr. on Howe Ave. Prefer results over other sunless tans. I've done their sunless versa tan about 10 times now over a 2 or 3yr period and I've NEVER had any problems w/staff. Employees were most curtious and helpful...I'm older...maybe I remind them of their grandmas! Anyway--no hard sell; they're happy to review the process and positions you use in the booth. Generally, I will buy a single session or, like today, when they have a good special (advertised on 107.9 radio), I will buy more...got 4 sessions for $40--great deal, I think. I'm pretty white, so I don't need to look baked. I use level 2 and it works for face and legs, too--just takes away the scary white look.

as a former employee of california sun, i can tell you first hand that they lie to you about your memberships! It is near impossible to cancel them and they make mistakes. Don't blame all the sales girls though, as we get the run around when we would call on your behalf and try to help you from the salon... the corporate girls are all prissy and SUPER rude! they will all tell you something different.
as far as lotions go, we do get trained about all of the products and if you aren't an airhead (like myself) you will remember, but 80% of the girls that work there are, so don't trust them. our hours are based on sales and we make commission so the more we sold the more hours & money we would get so they would make us be pushy to sell if we wanted hours.
their beds hardly ever get their bulbs changed! they wait until the very last minute when they are barely heating you up to change them which is why a lot of you say you don't get color. it is true that the upgrades work wonders, but if the bulbs are old, you are just wasting your money.
don't let the multiple locations and clean interiors fool you... the Blore's are super shady and need to learn how to run a customer service based business correctly!!
I really think the prices and service are unbeatable. They staff are very friendly, everytime I go in.
Bottom line = You pay for what you get. I love their internet e-club and all the coupons you get.
The new Versa Mystic tan is amazing.
I do wish you could still purchase tans by the minute, which made upgrades less expensive.

Beware that CSC employees realize their practices have come back to haunt them on the reviews listed here. That is why idiots talking this place up are writing in all caps (we can already hear you).
This place is a scam. I've gotten tan fairly quickly at other places and never experienced the complete crappiness of a California Sun Center "bed." You simply don't get any color. On top of that, the sales staff averages about 19 and are probably working on commission, hence the constant pressure to buy lotions or "upgrade" beds (an oxymoron, as that didn't work for me, either, despite already shelling out money for unlimited).
They also make it very difficult to cancel. I mailed my cancellation form in and also called my bank and put a stop-payment on it. Despite this, CSC tried several months in a row to keep charging me, despite the stop payment, until finally giving up.
This is a horrible place and I wish only the worst for the owners. Their clueless employees will probably get a job peddling real estate later in life.

when I signed up the girls told me I could fill in a cancellation form in the salon any time to cancel but when I tried they told me I had to mail it in. then I did that and I kept getting charged for like five months. finaly I changed by debit card. I saw a story on the channel 13 call kurtis news web site and it happened to someone else too. beware!

Before you decide to join this company, READ all of the reviews!! Go onto national business websites and see their horrible ratings. They have SO many disputes listed, and not one of them were ever even responded to. You need to seriously question a company with a repeated history of unsatisfied customers. They are crooks with very unsavory business practices.

It took me 5 months to get my refund check that I was promised when I signed up for a 6 month term package, I always got the run around when contacting the corporate office and I always received conflicting explanations, the girls in the salon that I went to were unpleasant and acted as though they had better things to do, and then when the 6 month term package that I initially signed up for was over they continued to charge me. I had to contact them after receiving a threatening letter in the mail stating that my account in was in jeopardy. I was then told that in order to no longer be charged a monthly fee that I would need to write them a letter stating that my 6 month term package was up, as they claimed that they did not know when I signed up or what package/term I had signed up for. Wouldn??t you have that information as records at the corporate office? When I questioned that they contradicted themselves and said I needed to pay or else. SHADY!!!!! Consumer beware!

This place is a joke! The corporate office has shady business practices and NEVER honors their word! Beware of signing up for a contract with this place. The regular tanning beds that they have are horrible, very low grade and not worth your time. They also dont have individualized stereos on the beds so you have to listen to one station which the whole salon is listening to and there isnt individualized fans on the beds either. To get a decent tan you need to upgrade to a higher grade bed which is NOT CHEAP and then they only have one or two of those beds in the whole salon which are ALWAYS full and you have to wait forever to use! The customer service is pathetic. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone!!!
So they send these coupons out each Monday, which is nice, but if you have an iphone and want to show them the coupon, some of the facilities say oh you can just show is the email while others make you print it. If your trying to be "green friendly" why do you need the paper coupon? You can't get a tan in the beds that are for the monthly $19.98, you have to do the upgrades which are NOT cheap. The girls are all stick figures who hammer you in to sales even if you walk in with a purse full of lotions and eyewear ... DUH! They will tell you a bed is being used if you ask for one that you like that is not an upgrade so you will buy an upgrade to avoid using a free one! Corporate Office ... it must be a BIG SECRET as no one will ever come forward at the office ... they are all scardy cats in real life but over they phone, they are rude!!!! The clothes are for stick figures also, never do they carry large or xlarge. I heard from one of the gals that work there, if you don't sell, they cut your hours back to nothing for punishment. They pay the lowest wages ever.

I went to the salon because I was referred by my friend and I just loved the experience. The girl at the front desk was just a cutie pie and so informative! I would refer California Sun to everyone I know.

I read some of the previous reviews about a pushy staff and I have totally not experienced this. I went in and told the woman that I just wanted to get a tan for my wedding which is in a month and that I didn't want a membership just the sessions, she answered all my questions, didn't try to sell me the monthly membership or any upgrades. She gave me exactly what I wanted and I thought the entire experience was great.

I love them. The beds are always clean, clothing is sooo cute, huge lotion selection and discounts for members. Some reviews on here say they dont see results, and I dont see how? I tan 2 times a week (3 if I can get in there) and I am DARK :) And the girls that work at both their Sunrise Blvd offices (by Cal Fit and then the one by the Mall) are so sweet, I just love them!

I just went in for an interview today and i swear all this girl talked about was "sell sell sell" I belong to amazing tan and i would much rather work there. those girls are so sweet and know what they are talking about and I have NEVER had a problem.... sounds like cal sun center needs to learn a few things..... come to think of it everyone at the corporate office was really pale LOL

The staff up front is somewhat knowledgeable, and I received decent advice. Of course this all came in between the constant attempts at selling lotions and upgraded services. I had to constantly upgrade to achieve a noticeable tan that unfortunately faded quickly. One time a girl forgot to mention the bulbs had been freshly changed and I payed for that physically for a week. I'm still concerned as to how they clean their equipment in 30 seconds and expect me to feel comfortable. Also aren't the greatest when it comes to billing/refund resolution.

The commitment is before you can cancel or freeze your acct. they explained it to me and the notice of 30 days is so they an tell the cc company. They are very friendly and helpful and the staff knows what they are talking about. I appreciate the office because they have people trained for those specific departments and they can give all the time you need to talk to you about things you need answered. Clean and beautiful facilities are just the start. They offer great pricing and always have good deals going.

California Sun Centers is quite possibly the greatest place in this entire world. no wait, universe. They have a super friendly staff and great deals. You people who think they should do sessions are stupid, credits are better. Ask the employees why, and they will tell you. Yes, they may ask you to buy things, but they will NEVER pressure you. And all the products they try to sell you are essential to a beautiful tan. All employees have to go through extensive training and know everything there is to know about tanning. The bulbs are changed at half their life, and if you are not satisfied with the mystic, there are two locations with a versa spa that you can use for THE SAME price as the mystic. So before you complain, make sure that you are doing your part. I can assure you that if you are not getting a good tan, it is because of YOU, not California Sun. :)

California sun centers is a fabulas tanning salon! Whats so great about it? Well not only do they do tanning, sell lotions, and swimsuits, they also sell A D O R A B L E clothes. They have cute and fun summer dresses, nice work clothes, and more. I would highly recremend coming to ca sun, i told all my friends about it and now everyone of them goes there or even works there and loves it! All the bad reveiws you see on here are probably because something didnt work out exactly how that person wanted it and now there mad. But dont let those comments prevent you from trying something new! ( and by the way there adds are true, i just got a great deal on one!!!!!)

They have you sign an eft (electronic debit) document even if you sign up for no commitment and they try and make you give them a 30 day notices to avoid monthly charges! When you paid and singed up for No Commitment...

They tried charging me an extra month and my bank took care of it. Even though they showed my bank my signature, I showed my bank I paid for no Commitment. It is funny how they produce documents to banks when they say they can't for their consumers! Also they have you sign the form explaining you can cancel any time and they don't give you a copy of what you sign...

From Reno to Roseville these tanning salons go above and beyond. Their staff is obviously chosen selectively and go through intensive training to be well educated on what and how they are selling. Their beds are accurately changed as well as the bulbs in them. Their personal take on how they deliver their company is oustanding and I have not experienced a better time at a tanning salon. Yes, there may be a wait occasionally but ASK THE EMPLOYEES what times they are not as busy and I'm sure they would be more than willing to help you out.

Never had a problem at any cal sun center.. I use this one and one in rancho cordova. I dont know how you ppl dont get tan .. Keep going keep up with the tanning and when you go .. you will actually get tan. you cant go one day and not go for a week.
i hate this place they have the worst service and beds. I had a membership for over 6 months and i couldn't get tan so i stoped my package. 20 bucks a month for tanning sounded like a good deal at the time but like most people say you get what you pay for! I wouldn't send any friends here
I was told they only do contracts, fine it was a good deal. Took FOREVER to get tan, always a wait, the girls never remember who you are and treat you as a number (although friendly). Place is very nice, but beds are horrible and you are always pressured to buy a ton of stuff everytime you go in even if you just bought some lotion. Tried to cancel my contract after my year was up...can you say NIGHTMARE!!! You have to jump through all these hoops to cancel. The only reason the are voted #1 is there are so many locations, employees voting alone would get them that spot.

they always assure me that customer service is their main concern. they have friendly upbeat staff and they always try to make me happy. they also have been voted number one ten years in a row by sac. magazine, looking fit magazine, auburn journal, press tribune, and their readers!!! thay have classy convienent locations that have a nice warm feeling and are very professional. if you ever experience a problem, tell the corporate office and they will talk to the employee. They are fantastic. there is so much to say about them, but i will never tan anywhere else!!! they tried to break down that wall beween us and get conversasional. i love thir staff and when i go in they are in uniform. I just like anywhere else have had a bad experience but we are human and have our down days so we have to remember that. but overall they are great!!
Wow, talk about High Pressure sales and false advertising! I went in because of an ad i saw, what a mistake, if you are the type of person that enjoys hanging out at a used car lot with used car sale people you will enjoy this place. The cute bubblegum girls and nice decor is part of the deception to get you hooked and then the billing nighmare begins. Now that that's off my chest I will get to the original reason I am posting. It tkaes twice as many tanning sessions (both tanning and Mystic) to get results that are not as good as what I've gotten in other salons in half the sessions.
Beware of California Sun Centers! They do not give refunds or exchanges for any reason, even when the manufacturer which they represent wants them to facilitate an exchange. In my case the manufacturer also wanted to insure that no additional customers were harmed by their product. Yet coroporate officers at California Sun Center refused to return their phone calls. Once this was finally resolved California Sun Center locked our account becuase of a billing error that they made, then only insisting on charging a late fee for their error, even though the account had an outstanding credit balance.
