After living and working out in Denver for the past several years, I have to say that the Coors Fitness Center at the University of Denver is by far one of the best fitness facilities in the area. No matter your budget, Coors Fitness Center has an option for you - the staff are always friendly and willing to work with you to find a membership or payment option that suits your specific needs. With a very diverse clientele, ranging from students, to young professionals. to community members, to families, to faculty members and retirees, there is literally something for everyone here. Yes, there are certain times of day when the gym is overrun by college students, but it is technially thier gym after all and I think the public should definitely take advantage of the opportunity to use such high-class facilities. In comparison to other local gyms which might offer 24-hour access, cheaper prices, or no initiation fees, Coors Fitness Center actually offers you a personalized experience that, in my experience, can be had nowhere else. Staff and management work openly and consistently to get to know each member by name - even the staff that are very obviously just part-time student workers form relationships with the members. Every experience I have had at Coors has been with a person who remembers and references my personal interests, expereinces, and background, and never with a recording. This gym is also a fantastic place to meet new people whether its just comparing exercises on the weight floor, playing pick up basketball in the gym, or attending one of the group fitness classes. Don't be fooled by gyms that have created the impersonal, Wal-Mart, mass produced fitenss option. Whether you are a beginner or a professional athlete, you can workout comfortably at Coors.

I have been going to the DU Recreation/Health/Fitness Center for two years now. Over the past 30+ years in Denver I've belonged to a variety of health clubs, from very expensive, high scale, to cheap neighborhood places. All in all I'd have to say that DU's Health and Fitness Center is the best. It has everything I want and a good deal I don't use. There is a pretty wide range of memberships and the staff there does its best to find you the cheapest one for your needs; a big difference from other centers.

I work out 3-4 times a week and while it can be a bit crowded at times, I never have a time I can't get on the equipment I want within minutes. There is a good selection of free weights and a good mix of machines.

They offer Yoga, and personal trainers, but I don't know about costs. My membership is one of the least expensive I've ever had at a club and I get way more than at some of the other clubs.

I think some people think this is not open to the public but it is. Of course the place is normally used by students and faculty at DU, but the public is welcome.

As an employee and person who exercises regularly, I can attest that I would not work out here if I didn't have to be here every day. Not only do the employees not want to be their, the patrons our very overbearing and highly demanding. The employees our always stressed out with high work loads and low pays and the gym is always a mess. For what you would expect from a gym that you are going to be paying alot for, this gym is not what you would expect. I would go somewhere else
