I was so excited to hear that the transition from Black Olive to Blue smoke Burger Bar was finally complete and they were open for business. My family and I are die hard burger fans.

Our first dining experience today, was to be polite, utterly disappointing. I can tolerate the nonchalant attitude towards customer service but to have been served burned charred burger, especially Kobe was rather shocking. And there was hardly any apology or reasons to why that dish even made to our table or any effort put to making our experience pleasant nor the dish comped . Since, there were only 2 tables being waited on at the main dining room. I sincerely am at a loss of words.

What a waste of our dinner. Sorry!

Pros: Nothing

Cons: The food is terrible

This is a great restaurant because of the location in a mall and near a theater so you cna do it all in the downtown area and have a good meal as well. Their fresh made Cesar Salad dressing is great but the lettuce was not very fresh. Their raviolies were open and looked bad presentation wise but the flavour of the stuffing was great however the sauce was scanty and made the pasta a bit dry. The dessert was amazing no bad comments there.

The wait staff was great as well. The singer had a very pleasant voice and did not sing too loud so conversation was pleasant. There are not many patrons so it was actually intimate even if their dinning room is quite large. I can recommend it overall if you do care about presentation of the food and are bold enough like me to ask for extra sauce. The price for the dishes is very affordable for the quality of the ingridients so price wise it is great!

Pros: Great service and some showiness by the water and great sing

Cons: pricy and food presentation lacks style

Unfortunately, we visited The Black Olive last night. Prior to eating there we read some poor reviews online, but ever the optimists, we decided to give it a try. Well, I'm sad to say, the naysayers were right. I'm going to get straight to the point...Our meal took 3 and a half hours! We were in a large party, but there was almost no one else in the restaurant. The waiter was minimally adequate (he was alive, able to take our orders, and eventually bring us our food), but he lacked the personality needed to create a memorable dining experience. He made a table side caesar salad that tasted watered down. The sauce for the calamari also tasted watered down. The truffle oil mashed potatoes were lacking and the filet mignon was tender, yet tasteless. The set up of the table (long booth seating on one side and chairs on the other) meant we had to all shuffle in and out of the booth side whenever someone needed to get out. Fine for a diner, not for supposed fine dining. Overall, a disappointing experience.

Pros: Hmmm...

Cons: slow service, bland food
