I WAS OVER CHARGED, MY GOODS DELIVERY DELAYED AND I LOST MY EXPENSIVE GOODS

I had a worst experience I can imagine with TranUnited Inc(US DOT: 1820565, MC: 660733), a Florida based movers company. I hired them to move my House old goods from MO to MD.

The initial binding quote they provide us was for $1568. The sales associate promised its a binding estimate. Also the sales associate confirmed that the person who will be loading the goods in the truck will first do a final inspection before loading. She said if the freight goes more than the quote, they will let us know before loading. On July 17th, the personfrom came to pickup the goods. We specifically asked him before loading, if the quote given was correct and final. He told all is fine and started loading the goods immediately. Once the goods were all loaded he gave us a inflated bill of $2600 i.e.$1032 more than initial quote.

We were totally surprised and taken a back. I told him we had only the same goods that were mentioned in the initial estimate. He bluntly said you have to pay the increased charges, as the earlier Quote(i.e. binding) is wrong. As paying so much was not be possible we asked him to cancel the order or unload some goods if necessary to reduce freight. He bluntly said 'NO', and we have to pay. We literally felt hostage and had no other option but to pay. As it was already 6:30 pm, so we didn't had any other option but sign a final haggled price of $2,150.

Next day I talked to Trans-united officials in Florida about it and told about the experience and the the household items picked up were same as mentioned the quote. They told as I have already signed, so have to pay. I strongly feel this whole process is for cheating customers. They first give a binding quote, once the goods are loaded they then give a very highly inflated bill. They then literally blackmailed us to pay, by refusing to unload the goods. I later tried to talk about it with TranUnited officials and a have not received a satisfying response from them. Please find the correspondence emails attached.

After 4 weeks and wasting many hours on the phone with them, finally my goods arrived at Germantown. First they refused to unload the goods without me paying the balance upfront. In my due diligence I paid the total amount upfront. Once unloaded I found the following items are missing or damaged.

1) 26 HD Samsung Flat TV worth $800 missing
2) Large Suit case. This suite case had all expensive dresses of my wife and her wedding dress missing. We can't put a price to the wedding and engagement dresses. However the price of clothes were around $600-800
3) Center table - $100 missing
4) 1 Dining chair of a set of 4 broken. It renders the chair unusable and the whole dining set bad. On conservative terms the damage is around $100.
5) There are many other furniture items with sratches and dents.

So we are incurring a total damage of $1600 (i.e. 800+600+100+100). They had already forced us a additional inflated bill of $582. So we have incurred a additional total loss off 1600+582= $2182 on this move. This experience has been a complete ripoff for me.

I was over charged, my goods were delayed and I lost expensive goods, I sincerely urge not to go with them if you dont want to experience what I experienced.

See for yourself their ratings on BBB and other review sites and you will know how other people has similar experience with them.

DON??T DO ANY BUSINESS WITH TRANS UNITED - US DOT : 1820565 UNLESS YOU ENJOY

?All your personal belongings arrive weeks after promised, in addition to it being broken.

?Having to deal with the most evasive people in customer service, since every time you call you talk to a different employee altogether.

?Your questions are never answered directly, instead the response ??I??m sorry, I can??t tell you any information as of right now,? is repeated over and over again.

?Having to deal with a new temporary trans-united employee every time you call and start telling your concern all over again. In turn you would hear that ??I am new dispatcher/customer service representative and don??t know what anyone before me has promised, but this is how it is going to work from now on------whole new story?
?Getting frustrated easily since there is no guarantee when your belongings will arrive.
?You get pleasure from knowing that most of your items are broken after you give your full payment (they won??t reduce any single penny but take away money first and then start unloading your items) !!!!!!
?You want to experience all your original terms and conditions you setup with moving consultant, in my case, Anthony, become NULL AND VOID and get dragged with their terms and conditions once they pick up your stuff from your home!!!

I picked trans united in the first place because I was convinced that TRANS UNITED has an A- rating in better business bureau (I have no clue how they got that rating from BBB) and is better than others and after I reviewed people opinion here. That was my mistake; I should have perused other websites to read actual experiences that would have stopped me from contracting with such a horrible company.
