I've finally realized... I don't have to have a wedding to get some nice, quality things in my home. As a grown-up, I can -- with some financial restraint, of course -- buy "gifts" for myself.

Thanks to Zing, and taking on some extra side work over the years, I have a dining table that I love, a lush cable-knit rug that's like a cozy sweater for the feet (I'm sprawled on it right now), and a "real" dresser.*

I've been told my design aesthetic is minimalist -- VERY minimalist. If you want decorative cowbells or flourish, R&B might not suit your taste. But if you like clean lines, quality craftsmanship, and simple delicious colors... yeah... they've got you covered. I especially like that so many of their products are custom crafted in the United States. Cool.

I'd advise visiting the store on US 41 before purchasing online or from the print catalog, because items do appear different in person. And since these are not Ikea or Target prices (not that I don't have items I LOVE from the latter), you don't want to end up with a couch that's not at all what you expected and that you have to sell a month later on craigslist.

Zing's service, in store, online, and on phone, is excellent. Example: My new chair (yaaaay for my new chair!) will take a few weeks longer to obtain from their supplier than originally anticipated. So Brenda from Zing called me to apologize profusely and volunteer that they would waive all shipping and delivery charges... "even though we know that won't make up for not having your chair sooner -- again, we are SO sorry"... which I thought was very nice.

Did I mention the stainless steel four-poster bed that is on my wish list? Um, for Christmas? Maybe Brenda will put in a good word with Santa. Hey, you never know!

* "Real," versus the relic from my parents' basement that I'd been using for 10 years, or something plastic from Home Depot.

Cheap and comfortable! Seriously, why does furniture always have to be so expensive? I was just in there looking around last weekend and say a seriously *amazing* zebrawood coffee table and end table package for $492 but there was a "sold"

If you have never stopped by their showroom I would highly suggest doing so if you have some spare time. The sheer amount of furniture they have at freakishly low prices is enough to keep me coming back monthly to see the new deals.

Tim, the owner, is a really cool guy too.
