If you care about customer service this is not the place to go! My food wasn't prepared as I asked for it and when I talked to the owner (woman who is ALWAYS at the counter and gets easily flustered) she asked me to bring the food back and they would prepare a new one. I told her that I wasn't planning on coming back to Stonecrest that day and I asked if she would offer me the dinner portion due to my inconvenience. She said no and proceeded to tell me that she had to work, she had other customers! I thought it was mostly a language barrier issue so I went back to get my food. I tried to explain to her what my concerns where when I arrived and during our conversation she stopped to answer the phone, she stopped to talk to other people, etc. Her husband actually came out from the kitchen and told her to handle the situation with me and he would cover the phones. I eventually just left because it was obvious she is clueless and/or doesn't care about customer service. I called back and she had the audacity to say "OH NO, I DON'T HAVE ANY MORE TIME FOR YOU" (actual quote) at which point I told her I would be back for my money. Please note that we have been going here since its grand opening because we were happy to have a Thai restaurant at Stonecrest instead of driving across town. If it matters to you how you are treated when you patronize a place, please be forewarned! After the way I was treated I will avoid this place like the plague and happily use my gas to go across town when I want Thai.

I've been to Exotic Thai a couple of times now. The staff is super friendly. The drinks are great. And the food is superb. This is definitely not your average hole in the wall, rather, it's a cute restaurant with sharp contemporary decor,

This place always impress me every time I visit them, the orders are pretty quick as if we called them ahead of time, the ingredients they used are fresh you can tell right away. The Coconut Chicken Soup a hot coconut milk with white meat

I was thrilled when Exotic Thai opened in Lithonia, because usually I have to drive all the way to Decatur to get Pad Thai or Pad See Ew or any Thai dish. I was also apprehensive; new restaurants are a risk. And It's no fun to splurge on a Sunday lunch only to be disappointed by the food and out of ten dollars.

It was Sunday though and I had a deperate craving for Thai food. I usually judge a Thai restaurant by how good their Pad Thai is. It's a common dish, so it should reflect the potential quality of other dishes. You know, setting the bar pretty low and working my way up.

The servers were polite and quick. I recieved a complimentary baskets of shrimp chips soon after I arrived. They were a delicious and promising sign.

When my Pad Thai arrived and I wafted away the steam I was a little shocked. The Pad Thai was bright pink. The noodles were pink. The chicken was pink. The tofu was pink. And the peanuts were crumbles of pink. I tried to remain positive. Maybe the chef had a signature ingredient that turned his Pad Thai pink to distinguish it from others? *doubt*

It tasted as pink as it look. The saccharine sauce tasted very much like the sauce from sweet and sour chicken you get at your local cheap-Chinese food place.
The noodles were rubbery and I had to chew carefully. After a couple bites I called over my waitress concerned that perhaps I'd gotten the wrong order, or maybe the cook was having an off day, or anything other than that this mess was their very best version of Pad Thai.

"Yes, ma'am. That is how we normally make it."
"Have you had Pad Thai before?"
"Pad Thai is very sweet ma'am. It's a sweet dish."
"Have you had it here before?"
"I am sorry ma'am. Pad Thai is sweet."

So, there you go. There Pad Thai always taste like mall food. Except unlike mall food it's $10.00 on Sunday and you never sampled it on a toothpick. If that had been the case though, I definitely would have found another lunch to splurge on.
