I have been going to this resteraunt for years and will say that it truly has the best food I have ever had. I think that the Veal is especially something everyone should have. It is better than the rest of the places I have been in Chicago. It is a small quiet restaurant that gives a really intimate feeling. The service is always great. They give pleanty of time to finish each course and are accurate with the orders. To start I recommend going with the minestrone soup, it is great. All of the main dishes are great, but I really must say that if you enjoy veal you will never have had better. My favorites are the veal salimbocca or the veal tenderloin in vesuvio sauce. If you are not a veal lover there are still pleanty of great choices including the chicken francaise. I am always too full to have desert so I can't say how that is, but with food this good it would make sense that the dessert is also fantastic. There is a decent wine selection as well. This place is a hidden treasure.

Pros: terrific food

Cons: a little expensive, but worth it.

We have been going to this restaurant for the past 20 plus years! Yes, their veal is so tender it melts in your mouth like butter! You can sometimes hear them pounding the veal back in the kitchen, it is THAT fresh! We happen to like the Francese version, but I am sure all of their other dishes are just as primo.

I saw someone eating at the bar and they had a stuffed pork chop to die for! We also agree they have wonderful minestrone soup, and they have parmesan at the table to liberally add to whatever dish you please. They have a tasty and generous shrimp de jonghe, too.

Salads are tasty -- I always request creamy garlic dressing with blue cheese crumbles -- and they have a nice selection of appetizers if you think you'll have room for them.

We also usually don't have room for dessert, but have on occasion shared a tiramisu that is very good.

They pour a stiff drink, and their wine list is varied and pretty reasonable.

Service is great, atmosphere mellow, and knowing they have a little mafioso history adds to the charm. What's also great, is if you know their menu, you can call in an order for pick up and eat it at home -- but why not stay and eat it there? You'll miss all the great ambience!

Just make sure you call first to make a reservation. Too bad they don't have a menu on line, so I can tell you how great all their other stuff is, too!

Pros: Small and intimate! Great bar! Take out service!

Cons: Parking might be tight if your party each brings their own car.
