So far I'm not impressed, I ordered my dress 5 months ago and I was told it would take 4-5 months. I've called a few times to make sure everything is okay with the order because I've heard nothing and they act annoyed. I'm hoping things

As someone who has high expections, we can only praise the staff of Bridal Couture. From the moment we entered the shop we received nothing but the most patient, helpful and attentive service from the employees. Thank you Carol for such wonderful service, and to the manager Amy we so appreciate all the time and effort you put into all the extra details that help to make a wedding day so very special. Your great selection made it easy to find the dream dress, and our drive from Ontario, Canada was well worth the 3 hours! You made it a wonderful experience, that we will remember for a lifetime. We'll be passing out your cards to our friends as service like we experienced sadly isn't that common anymore.
We hope you'll consider opening another Bridal Couture closer to the border! Jane and Sylvia

Pros: UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP!

Let me preface this by first saying that my dress, my bridesmaid dresses, my moms dress and my flower girl dress ALL came from Bridal Couture. Everything was fine until it came to getting my alterations done.

The lady who was supposed to do the alterations on my dress didn't do ANY of the stuff she was supposed to do to the top of my dress. I asked the seamstress if she could take it out a little at the bust because it was too tight but she told me no. She said that because of the detail in my dress it wasnt possible. I trusted that she would make sure that my dress fit fine for my day since I know nothing about alterations on a wedding dress. Second, when my dress was bustled about a foot of material still was dragging on the ground. When I went to pick up my dress the day before my wedding is when I found all of this out. I rushed my dress to a new lady to have it fixed since the original lady had since retired...how convient. The new seamstress that I found said that the other lady could have taken my dress out like I asked, but she just didn't want to because it can be a big job. I COULDN'T believe it!!!! The new lady was able to fix the top as best she could given it was the day before my wedding.
The day of my wedding my bustle broke right when I got to my reception because the origanl lady only sewed ribbons into my dress to hold it up. It should have had buttons due to the weight of my dress, and should not have dragged on the ground! As a result of my bustle breaking we had to use safety pins to keep my dress up so I missed some of my reception trying to fix it and now my dress has rips in it from the safety pins.

Needless to say, I had to pay an extra $130 for the last minute alterations (which should have been done the first time) the day before my wedding when I had no time to have to deal with this. Not to mention my dress is now ripped. Between me and my whole bridal party we spent about $2600 dollars in that bridal store and they are only willing to give me $20 back and didn't even offer to fix my dress!!!! Customer service my ass!!!!!

I had gone to three previous bridal salons before reluctantly going to Julie's (because of what I've read/heard about them) and to my surprise, the entire experience was pleasant and easy. I had already narrowed down what I was looking for, gave Carol G. my price range and she went to town. We pulled from the floor, she picked dresses from the back and five out of the six dresses I tried on were great! There wasn't any pressure and she was very nice about letting me try on my favorites a couple more times. I was impressed on how quickly she understood what I was looking for and was able to pull different variations and explain the differences to me. I was able to meet the new owner Amy as well and she was very nice to me. I ended up going back four days later and buying my dress!

I went to Bridal Couture on Saturday. Wow, it was busy! I didn't have an appointment. Even though they were busy, they said they would help me.

Anyway, there were several other brides there while I was. We were all looking at dresses and had so much fun talking to each other about the dresses we liked on each other. My sales person was really nice. At one point she had to answer a quick question for someone and another person stepped in immediately to help me for the couple minutes. They just really catered to me.

The owner stopped by a couple times to check and make sure I was doing okay and that I was happy with the experience and who was helping me.

I found my dress too! I'm so excited!!!!! I've been searching at about 8 stores and was so glad to finally find what I loved with a salon that I enjoyed. They were fun!

I walked into julies bridal despite all the bad reviews from friends. I heard there was a new owner and she was wonderful. What new owner? Where was she? in the back room never came out! Dealt with a sales lady who was rude. she wasnt helpful looked around and saw the dress i loved she told me she had more dresses in the back, but if i told her the style she would get it. We couldn't go look at them. So i did just that! surprise she had nothing like the dress i wanted just the one out there. Fine i asked her to try it on she never came back until i had already put it on, looked at it , and gotten dressed by myself. I asked for an estimated they wouldn't do that without a deposit. How can i make a deposit without knowing the price?! All she was doing is telling me about the extras. never got an apology for the treatment, Amy never came out to see what was wrong and the sales lady went back and forth talking to her. i waited for fifteen minutes and nothing. I said thank u and walked out. Wow what a huge mistake! Someone walks in without a budget and u are rude to them. Their loss!!! Need less to say I found the same dress at a place where the women truly are wonderful Marias Bridal in Rochester. Brides if u want to be treated with respect dont go to julies!!!! my bridal party and I were truly dissappointed and in aww at the service. Julie' bridal UR A BRIDAL SHOP UR SUPPOSED TO MAKE BRIDES FEEL SPECIAL AND HAPPY NOT SAD AND DISCOURAGED TAKE A CLASS IN NICENESS 101!!!!!!

Do NOT shop here & do NOT have alterations done here. At first the new owner, Amy, was very helpful. But then after I ordered my special order Kate Bennett dress I found that the ladies lied to me every time I came into the store. My alterations were NOT complete. My chest was hanging out, there were creases still in my dress, the hem was way too long, the bustle was done incorrectly, the designer (Kate Bennett) did not want to do what I originally wanted for my dress & the owner of the store did not stick up for me. This was suppose to be a design like no one else's dress especially made for me. Instead, in order to get the design I wanted I had to pay more. Mind you I had already paid $3000 for a dress that was VERY simple! I got ripped off! And then they never did the alterations promised. THey wanted me to sign for the dress and it was not as promised so I wrote that down and took my dress as I only had a week until my wedding. Through screaming and tears I finally got my dress out! Did I mention that they also put holes in my veil! And then replaced it with the wrong color veil on the day that I picked up my dress but wouldn't let me compare the colors! I took my dress two other seamstresses. The first said it was so badly done that they couldn't fix it. The next wedding dress seamstress said she could fix it. But when she got into it said it was the worst quality workmanship she had seen in years so it was going to take longer than she originally thought. She suggested that I get money back b/c it was such poor quality!!! This was the worst decision I made during wedding planning! The store looks horrible and the service is even worse!!! DO NOT PAY from this store! Horrible experience. I"m telling everyone so no one else has to go through this so close to their wedding day!

I tried a few others in B-ham and Rochester that have stellar rep's, but felt pressured into gowns I didn't want to commit to. The sales people made it clear that they wanted commission whether I was happy or not. Finally went to Julie's (now not owned by Julie, I'm told, but by Amy) despite the icky awning. Great selection of designers, helpful staff (more than one girl came in to help me find a gown even though they were busy). I found the perfect dress after 2 visits, and they never made it feel like a hassle, but like they were lucky I chose them for my big day.

Place is in the middle of a revamp, but don't be discouraged. I thought they'd be a bit scattered, but they were 100% on target. I wish they'd finish the revamp and change the outside to reflect the interior! It just looks a bit dodgy from the street.

First time I went to pick out my dress was wonderful.......second time when I went to pick it up was horrible and unprofessional. One woman was in her barefeet and the other was talking behind her back. When I went to complain about my experience, I was told, "you should not be upset, at least you are getting married!" Brides, this is your time to shine, do not go to Julie's! You deserve better!! I only wish that someone had told me and I would have definitely gone somewhere else!

I finally just got my wedding gown and bridesmaids dresses.....Wow....what a job. I found the place that was so good after many shops that treated all of us horribly..........I guess it is now called Bridal Couture of Birmingham.........new owner we were told...the staff was excellent and treated me very special . I felt so good while I was there and my gown I choose was perfect. What I like is they have seamstresses right at the store, they don't send it out to be altered. I can't wait for my special day. This store has made my experience of dress shopping end up to be the best.......I really want to thank them for treating me like a princess and making it a special day............Thanks so much staff at Bridal Couture...........all you brides go and buy your gowns at this place you will be soooooo happy/

I had been recommended to Julie's Bridal from a sister in law who got lots of help and great service from there. We came in from the Lansing area (NOTHING THERE!), and Julie's was the ONLY shop we went to! We were treated very kindly, we were helped a lot, and we got a great deal. I would HIGHLY recommend this store! There is a new owner and she appears to be very willing to work with clients - a true pleasurable experience!

I recently called Julias Bridal Coutoure, I had very helpful service with Selena, she was wonderful and very dedicated to helping me over the phone, while im away for business. She asked me several questions, and was really into my wedding planning. I heard they are under new managment, and have a wonderful selection, and i am really looking foward to visiting the store next week and get my bridesmaids all set up for my wedding.

I recently purchased a gown for a formal event from Bridal Couture of Birmingham and was very happy with my experience! The woman helping me spent a ton of time looking through the different gowns they had available until we found the perfect one. It needed alterations so the seamstress came out to fit me and also to make a few other changes to the dress (reducing the long sash). The saleswoman called me as soon as it was ready (earlier than expected!) and when I went to pick it up, it fit perfectly. Overall, I had a great experience! I agree with one of the earlier comments that the new owners have really made a difference!

Pros: Customer Service, Selection, Location, Attention

I wish I had read the previous reviews before wasting my time at Julie's. Julie's staff was rude, disorganized, and did not listen to my requests. I brought pictures of dresses I liked, one of which the woman told me she had in the back. After bringing me 2 or 3 that SHE thought I would like, she said, "Okay, you like?" She wanted me to buy a dress already! I repeatedly had to ask for the dress in the picture, and after numerous trips to the back, she said she didn't have it. Through this experience, she continued to bring me ugly dress after ugly dress, one of which was PINK, none of which had any of the details I requested. The final straw was when I asked her to write down the top 3 that I liked so that I could look them up the designer at home, she disappeared for 20 minutes! When I asked the woman at the front desk what happened, she said she put the info in my file. She did not seem to understand I wanted the info for my personal use.
Shopping for a wedding dress should be a happy and fun experience. After I left Julie's, I never wanted to visit another bridal store again.

This place is awful!!! I recently visited with 2 of my bridesmaids and we all agreed.

First impressions: the store smelled musty and was in need of MAJOR aesthetic updates.

The employees didn't seem too interested in helping me find a dress - most of which are hidden away in a secret location. The woman showed me about 4 - 5 dresses and I asked for more dresses like one that I had on. And her response was, "I've brought you everything that I think you would like." REALLY? Come on! The service was sub-par ...you are spending thousands of dollars on a dress - you would think the staff would be friendly, helpful, and interested.

I did find 1 dress that they were selling the floor sample of that I would have possibly considered. The workers couldn't tell me what the discount would be for the floor sample, but took my information so that Julie could call me. A week has passed and I haven't heard a peep from Julie. That is horrible customer service!

Even if I had found a dress at this store that I wanted, I would have had a really hard time giving my business to them. There are so many other salons out there that want to treat you with care and kindness. Try out Salon Kray Chic in Farmington - they (in contrast) are AWESOME!

Pros: location in Birmingham is convenient

Cons: staff, customer service, attitude, atmosphere

.

I purchased my wedding dress, all ten of my bridesmaids dresses, and two flower girl dresses at Julies. It was the most horrible experience and was the only thing I regreted from my wedding. From the start, the shop was rude and had an attitude. The workers constantly spoke bad of Julie and each other behind her back. I still continued to order the dresses, because I had heard good things about them and they also carried the dress I wanted. They made an error on two of the ten bridesmaids dresses. They ordered the wrong size on one dress, and they ordered the wrong color on the other. I went in to check the order because I did not trust them and caught the errors . When I expressed my concern to Julie (the owner), she denied that this error ever occured and did not even apologize. They were extremely disorganized. I had their workers call me and tell me my dress was in. When I went in to try on my dress they told me is was not in and denied ever calling me. When I went in to try on my veil I had an appointment. It took them 20 minutes to bring out one veil and I had to sit and wait 20 minutes each time another veil was brought in. When I told them I did not like the veil they brought out and I only wanted a simple veil, they acted like they were annoyed with me. Julie told me that if I wanted a cheap veil to go with my expensive nice dress that was fine. I spent over $7,000 in the store and she refused to give me a discount on my veil. She wanted to charge me $800 for a plain veil with flat ribbon around the edge. The salespeople were rude to all my bridesmaids who called from out of town to order the dresses. This store ruined my bridal experience. I was treated poorly and with disrespect. I did not want them to kiss my feet or anything because I was the bride, but being nice to me is not too much to ask. It made me not excited about my dress and caused me a great deal of stress. I would never recommend this store to anyone.

This store ruined my bridal experience. I was treated poorly and with disrespect. I did not want them to kiss my feet or anything because I was the bride, but being nice to me is not too much to ask. It made me not excited about my dress and caused me a great deal of stress. I would never recommend this store to anyone.

Pros: good selection

Cons: everything else

.

This place has extremely awful customer service. I called them 4 times regarding cancellation of my bridesmaid dress. She told me they were going to fax a request to the manufacturer and get back to me. Each time I called, I requested the manager, and the person on the phone confirmed she was the manager. I called back 2 days later and they said they were still waiting for a reply from the manufacterer, and would get back to me. No one ever called me back. When I made a follow up call (about 2 weeks later) to see the status of my dress, the manager told me she had no record of me ever calling to cancel my dress. She states she never spoke with me at all!! She insisted that they always document calls, and since there was no documentation in my file, then it must mean I had never called!!! I think this is unacceptable from a place of business. I strongly recommend against using this store. They are obviously disorganized and don't take your calls seriously.

Originally from Michigan, I was excited to travel from NY to go shopping for dresses w/ my bridal party. We arrived at 4pm and were the only patrons in the store. Julie's has an extremely large selection of bridesmaid dresses, and we were able to find a few that are definite possibilities.
Unfortunately, our experience turned from good to horrendous when I started trying on wedding gowns. Sarah was condescending, hurtful and disrespectful to me while she threw gowns at me in the dressing room. She accused me of not knowing what I wanted and of trying on too many different styles. Isn't that what you're supposed to do to make sure you know what you want? She tried to sell me every dress, and bawked when I said I didn't like one she deemed unique and exquisite. I had come to Julie's hoping to see a specific dress, and, at first, she downright refused to get it from "the back" for me. She had me try on 4 dresses before finally pulling the two I had requested. She was rude to my mom, the mom of the groom, and the bridesmaids I brought with me for guidance. She rolled her eyes and checked her watch when I asked (I had to ask?!) to try on a veil with a gown I really liked. At 5:50, as we were getting ready to leave, she turned off the lights and left us in the room to gather our belongings in the dark. When one of my bridesmaids asked if Julie's was open on Saturday, she said, "You're not coming back tomorrow, are you?" and then criticized us (yet again) for trying on so many dresses.
I was confident that Julie's would provide me with the experience I was looking for. Their selection was good, but the person helping us navigate through the selection (SARAH) displayed dispicable customer service and was downright rude to me and my guests. I came from New York in hopes of spending an afternoon with my family and friends in my hometown planning my wedding. Instead, I was treated to a terrible experience and would rather shop anywhere else (NY or MI) than Julie's.
