My wife and I have been taking our dogs there for over 10 years. We have always been very happy with the great care and professionalism of the entire staff and Doctors. Everyone has also been very compassionate and responsive whenever we've needed special care for our pets. We especially want to thank Dr. Lindquist who we always ask for . thanks everybody. We would never go anywhere else.

I am going to post the letter I just got done emailing to this facility but I want to add a few lines here first. After reading these reviews, I want to say-this isn't about the money. I do understand that this is a 24 hour facility and because of the cost of the equipment and having to staff it the costs will be higher for treatment. However, I have also read the replies from this hospital and noticed that they "pride themselves on compassion and treat every patient with compassion". And there is where I take issue. Here is my letter:

To Whom it May Concern,

I am writing to inform someone about my experience on Tuesday evening. I brought my indoor/outdoor stray cat that I take care of in for a broken leg. Even though it wasn't busy, I was there for four hours. I was quoted between $300 and $340 for his treatment but when it came time to pay it was over $500 and no one informed me of the increase or why it was more then $200 higher then quoted. I chatted with the receptionist a lot and she was just the nicest person and very concerned. Then I met Jonathan. I have to say, I have never been treated so horribly before. I am still astounded at the way he spoke to me and the things he said. I was having a very hard time while there; My father is in congestive heart failure and not responding to treatments and over the last three weeks has been going down hill. I run my own business and therefore not able to take a leave from work. I am also a caretaker for my 2 year old nephew since my father is no longer able to do so. I am often out of the house, working, caring for my nephew or visiting with my father and taking him to doctors appointments. So I am feeling overwhelmed. I share this so maybe you can understand my thoughts on Tuesday. I am often not home and I was having anxiety about not having to care for this poor cat for months and months on end. I didn't want him to be in pain or suffer so I wanted to discuss my options- I thought about surrender but still offered to pay for his medical costs... I just didn't feel like I had the time to properly care for him at home and was trying to see what my options were so I could do what would be best for him. I was crying and upset and feeling guilty; One of the techs whose name I unfortunately do not know (She was blonde and in her forties) was lovely and sweet and calmed me down, led me to a room. Jonathan came in to discuss my options and he was abrupt. I mentioned that this wasn't my favorite place since I had been treated badly in the past and he turned nasty. I was still struggling with what to do and confused about what I COULD do since I kept getting different answers. He then just got up and left the room without saying anything else to me. I sat there for a half hour before going out and talking to the same tech who had talked to me earlier. She was just as nice and when I told her how I was being treated she just said "well some people you have to take with a grain of salt". I never saw anyone in charge or a Vet, besides the one who spent less then 3 minutes with me. ( I timed her). Jonathan and I then had another run in at reception. I was talking to a new lady at the desk and informed her of how I was being treated and that I'd like the card of someone in charge so I could make a complaint. She said nothing besides "well that depends, whats your complaint about" and had no response to what I told her- no "I'm sorry that happened to you" or anything. Jonathan came out and I looked at the receptionist and said I was done talking to him and would like to see the tech who was nice that I saw before and he said "I'm not here to coddle you or rub your back or hold your hand-that's not my job, I'm telling you the way it is and you just have to get over it." I said "Why would I keep bringing my cats here if this is how you treat people" and he said "That's the second time you've said that and it's pissing me off- If you don't like it here so much then you better go to UPENN or Redbank or anywhere else". So I will be.

Business Response:

Bit Kane came into our emergency hospital when the owner noticed he was limping. Our emergency doctor examined Bit and took xrays and confirmed that Bit’s leg was broken. At 10:30pm the emergency Doctor sent the xrays to the surgeon to get an estimate on what would be needed to repair the broken leg. Ms. Kane was given two treatment plan options, one was a surgical estimate to repair the leg, this option was declined. The second option was a more conservative estimate which would have Bit’s leg splinted and would require at home care and bandage changes. Ms. Kane approved this option. Bit was sedated and the leg was splinted and he was ready to go home. When Ms. Kane returned to pick up her pet she told our staff that she didn’t have the time to care for Bit due to her current personal situation. She then asked about euthanizing Bit or surrendering him. Ms. Kane was upset, crying and feeling guilty which of course can add to the emotional stress of having an injured pet and distort the factual perception of the events. Several staff members spoke with her to try and help her make decisions based on responsible pet ownership and not emotions. Upon receipt of Ms. Kane’s letter and discussing the case with the medical directors and owners of the hospital, our Customer service manager called Ms. Kane to discuss her visit and follow up on Bit’s condition. Ms. Kane refused to have a conversation and rudely hung up. We welcome the opportunity to speak to Ms. Kane and invite her to contact either owner of the practice, or the hospital administrator at her convenience.

This place was HORRIBLE! All they are concerned with is MONEY! They charged us $120 upfront before they would even see our extremely sick cat. Then they told us that they needed to do blood work and "other" diagnostic tests which had to be paid for prior to rendering services - $270 just for blood work alone!! The bill would easily be $1000 before all was said and done. When we told them we didn't have that kind of money, they became extraordinarily rude. They said our cat is like our child and we wouldn't put a price tag on our child's healthcare. When we became upset over their treatment of us AND the prices, the vet tech ACTUALLY said to us "It's not our fault your cat got sick." We were going to take our girl home but the vet told us she was too sick. So, we can't afford their fees and we can't take our cat home! They ended up euthanizing her and charging us $167 for it. They told us we could pay them later when we had the money but "you are required to pay this bill. Our office manager is ruthless and, if you don't pay, she will send you to a collection agency in a heartbeat." All of this nastiness because we couldn't drop $1000 in one afternoon for all the fees they wanted to charge us. We told them we would pay the $167 in two weeks when we got paid again- we had already paid the $120. They said that was fine and they would note our cat's chart. That was a Sunday. Thursday of the same week, the office manager called me and left a VERY NASTY voice mail on my phone demanding payment immediately "for your cat's visit last week." It was only four days after our beloved cat died. FOUR. We paid them a day BEFORE we told them we would. Ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. I've told so many people not to take their pets to this place and why. I WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO. I wouldn't take my worst enemy's pet to this vet hospital. AWFUL.

I recently took my dog to regional vet for an emergency bowel movement problem my dog was having. They cleaned her up and took care of the issue ALSO providing me with some other information that I was not aware of. They pointed out that she had a 'luxating patella' aka a dislocated knee or knee cap that moves out of place. They said she may have had symptoms such as that she would limp (she used to when she was younger). We were informed by our primary vet that it was an issue from lymes disease. I just thought everyone was super informative and really cared (i was even provided worksheets with info about luxating patella, etc). Thank you regional!

All this vet service cares about is money. In fact, you can forget about your pet even being seen before coughing up MONEY. Most vets charge after your pet is treated, right? Not at this vet office! My sister took her 13 year old dog to this vet - he was paralyzed, had labored breathing and was under severe distress. The dog was not tended to for nearly an hour and not until 2 credit card payments were processed, for a grand total of $659.00. That is not a typo and you are reading that correctly - $659.00 to euthanize 1 dog. The lack of compassion and price gouging is criminal. Also, if you check on various sites for "reviews" written for this vet, they are all written in "the same voice." And of course, they are all positive. Companies pay good money for hired review writers. This review is at least honest and nobody paid me to write it.

Business Response:

Losing a pet can be an extremely difficult and emotional time. RegionalVet does not claim to be the least expensive emergency and specialty hospital in the area - however we do pride ourselves on the expertise of our staff, the compassion of our doctors and the core values that this company is built on. Like any hospital, there are procedures that we must follow, and collecting payment for services rendered is one of them. I assure you that every single one of our reviews was written by a client. Customer Service is a top priority of ours, and we have already reached out to discuss this issue with your sister.

My sister had a horrible experience at Black Horse Pike Animal Hospital (aka Regional Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Center) during an emergency when her senior dog had a stroke the other day. She had to have him euthanized, and she knew that is what was needed when she took him there. They left her and her husband holding the dog in the waiting room for 20 minutes while they processed payment before anyone even looked at him. He was in obvious distress having trouble breathing, paralyzed and panicked. Once they took him back, they made them wait again while they swiped her credit card for an ADDITIONAL $500 to put him out of his misery...cold and an excessive amount of money, I think. I had to do the same with my pet about 4 years ago in an emergency and was treated with compassion and paid much less at Mt Laurel Emergency clinic.

I LOVE this place! I originally started using this vet 6 yrs ago when my 14 yr old boxer started having seizures in the middle of the night. After my first visit i was hooked! The staff here are extremely knowledgable and caring! All of my pets are patients here, and I will never go anywhere else. Dr. Linquist & Dr. Morris are the most honest and personable vets you will find, and after your first experience with them you will see that they genuinely love animals! They take the time to sit with you and explain every detail! I am such a fan that I now have most of my friends and family now using this vet!!!!

I brought my dog here for two emergency surgeries and am now using their cardiology services. I would gladly recommend this facility. My dog and I were treated with care and concern by both the doctors and staff during these traumatic situations and her continued specialty care. While my dog was hospitalized, I was able to reach them easily and got updated information quickly. I chose them on the recommendation of my primary vet and they have lived up to my expectations.

First wellness visit for my sick cat, Rusty. All the nurses, staff and Dr. Lindquist were very nice and kind. Dr. Lindquist was very professional and willing to listen to all my concerns, as well as answer all my questions in detail. Even though I was the last appointment of the night I never felt rushed. I also appreciate how they interact with my Rusty, not just a quick assessment they were petting him while we discussed the case, which I sure helped Rusty trust them too. I see several comments/ low ratings concerning the pricing here, not that I am made of money, but if I get the quality of care I expect for my best friend I do not mind paying a bit more. Looking forward to continued care at Regional and have no reason to believe I will have any issues here...

My third sheltie has terrible gum and teeth problems. But with the help of the staff of Regional Vets, he has a "Miss America" smile. Everyone is very professional and they are quick to call back the day of and after surgery to see how the patient is doing.

My dog Roscoe recently broke two bones in his back leg. Dr. Griffin did the surgery and Roscoe is doing wonderful. He is healing better and faster than expected. I am very pleased with
Dr. Griffin's surgical skills. They took good care of Roscoe. He actually loves all the staff and is eager to go with them when he needs to be taken from the exam room to the back. Thank you all very much for the great care given to my baby! Michelle G.

We began taking our dogs to what was then the Black Horse Pike Animal Hospital when we moved here 20 years ago. We have continued here as the practice changed hands, and as we have gotten new dogs and "lost" others.
I have literally spent thousands of dollars here. If your dog has an emergency, a serious illness, or needs surgery, I think you would do well to come here. They know their stuff and anything we've had done has been done well. Our 12 1/2 year oldest dog, has had two surgeries to remove large tumors. After her most recent surgery, her bandage needed changing daily (due to the wound location), they didn't charge, except for the bandage, and the wound healed beautifully.
There are two reasons, I don't give them five stars. The first is price. They are expensive, a teeth cleaning (under anesthesia) cost almost $600. They had to remove a tooth, but still very expensive. The second reason is that some of the doctors are very aggressive in their treatment recommendations. A few, like Dr. Lindquist, who was there for both of the euthanasias we had done and is very compassionate, actually listen to you. But some really push for more than you want. I think some are bored and just want a chance to practice what they've learned in school. But not at my expense, please.

I took our 8 year old border collie on a Sunday evening to the emergency services here. She was seen almost immediately for an apparent allergic reaction with severe facial swelling. The vet tech, Mary, was excellent. The vet, Dr. Gleason, was very caring. We left in under an hour, after two injections and orders for more medication. I was totally pleased.

I am very pleased with the services that my Maggie received at the Regional Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Center located in Turnerville, New jersey. From Dr. Griffin to Dr. Lindquist (the surgeon) Betty, John, Scott , attending nurses to most of the reception personnel everyone was kind , courteous, and very nice. They never minded when I called, and did I call, with my many questions, and their state of the art facility, gave me the peace of mind that I needed at a crucial time that I thought that Maggie might not make it. Thanks Dr. Griffin, and Dr. Lindquist and thanks to all the nurses. You are the best! I am sure that if Maggie could talk she would be sending all of you many kisses for saving her life! I recommend Regional Vet to anyone that has a critical case and need critical care for their pet. Manuela Coyle, Cherry hill, new jersey

This Vet was recommended by a family member, but I didn't not try them immediately. UNTIL I cut my doggy's toe nail too low and there was blood every where! I called the Regional Emergency Center- and even though we were not patients there they talked me through getting the bleeding to stop. So the next time we had to go to the vet we tried the RVESC. They were very welcoming and nice. My dog can be aggressive when he is frightened by they handled everything very professionally. Also my husband and I like to ask a lot of questions, both the Doctors and the "Vet Nurses" are very knowledgeable and patient. They do seem to be a little pricey, and that is the only reason I wouldn't give them a full 5 stars. But can you put a price on your pet/kid's life??? I'd say they are worth it. Our last visit Dr Griffin and our tech Nicole were very nice.

Horrible people!!!
Moments after telling me they would need to put my dog down after being hit by a car, they told my husband and I we had to pay the emergency bill of over $500.00 before we left or they would have to call the police and file a police report and take us to court. We paid $120.00 just to have her seen, but not told we we would have the police called if we couldn't pay the balance immediately before leaving. No payment plan, no arrangements, right to the police while your still crying over your lost pet. Cold, heartless and totally inhumane.

The worst animal hospital I have ever been to in my 41 years of pet ownership! Not only didn't they help my dog they let him get worse and then charged us $1352.83 and told us to take him to University of Penn which we did and they helped him and only charged us 247.50 If you need to take you sick pet somewhere go anywhere but her!!!

On April 26th I took my dog to the B.H.P. hospital with a urinary infection.
My dog had a laundry list of problems, over the past 2 years she has suffered with being deaf, blind, arthritis, diabetes and old dog disease twice in that time.
So I decided to use the emergency service this Sunday because I didn't want my dog to suffer another day before she could see her regular vet.
When I entered the hospital I was told she would she a Vet shortly, before seeing the Vet payment was demanded before services rendered.
I asked would it be easier to pay for it all at once?
The response was visit payment now medication payment can be made when you leave.
I found this rather unprofessional but what was I to do.
So I paid my visit fee.
I saw a Vet that I was very pleased with and very professional.
Then I leave and pay a second time for the medications.

My poor Girl had to be put down on June 13th by my regular Vet.

Less then 2 weeks later I take my other dog to the Vet to find out she may have mammary cancer.
Needless to say I was sick.I asked what can we do,we have done blood work,x-rays that offered no definite answers.
Ultra sound was the next step, then the more I thought about it, I thought I would like to get a second opinion.
So I call B.H.P. animal hospital for a appointment and asked to see the same doctor.
I explained we were not changing Vets just wanted a second opinion.

I was told because my dog was under another Vets care they couldn't make an appointment for her, because they have an agreement with the other Vets in the area not to take their customers.

But if we wanted to have her admitted as a emergency case and pay the extra emergency fee they would see her.
My 1st impression was correct, to them its money first, just like my 1st visit.
I didn't know I was a customer I thought I was the owner of one of the patients.

I can't say the Vets are bad,but their office practices are less then desirable.
They take an oath that they don't practice in helping animals when they refused to see my dog UNLESS I wanted to pay more,so its all about the money to them.
I'll take her to another vet maybe one that cares about patients.(customers)

When my baby cat was sick a few months ago he received the best care possible from the doctors and staff at the hospital, we had never been there before and it was a Saturday afternoon, but they saw him with in a hour, he had to take IV and other medication and he is alive and well because of them, I would never go anywhere else now.

When you take you animal to BHPAH you know you are seeing the BEST in the area for your animal. I do agree that they are a bit expensive but than again you get what you pay for. They did not push surgery for our dogs when they had pulled tendons but instead suggested rest and some pain meds. When we have an emergecny we call them and if they can help us over the phone they will. Last year on Christmas day we had a friends dog over who ate a large white chocolate bar. Thank goodness they have the 24/7 hours they were able to help us immediately. They follow up with a phone call the day after your visit and the vets them self's call you with test reports. It's like going to a doctor for our selves! Great group! My favorite is Dr Jen Morris but you can go wrong with any of the doctors in the group.Office staff is wonderful and caring. Couldn't ask for better!

I have been a long time client and have brought all 3 of my pets there. The doctors there are accessible, compassionate and extremely sensitive to all of the many concerns I have had about my pets. With the recent addtion of 24 hour emergency service, I never have to worry about where to take them if they are having an emergency. The staff is knowledgable, and extremely attentative. I am always amazed- these people spend more time with my pet(s) than any human doctor has ever spent with me. The value far surpasses any other hospital in the area and I would never take them anywhere else. Have already referred many friends and family members there as well.

We took a long time pet who was in kidney failure to be put down. We were made to wait an hour for an already very trumatic event. Then we were charged over $200. for what other vets only charge between $45 & $70. Do not take your beloved pet to this vet for a heartless visit.

I went there for years until Sigel sold out. Now its all new people, and the new owner are young & cocky. Did I mention expensive? My last, and I do mean last, time there I took my 13 year old dog in for vaccines, and left with a $300 bill without even knowing what I let them sell me on! The male doctor that saw him tried to get me to do labs, xrays, and an ultrasound because I said he has lost some weight, then tried to make me feel guilty for saying no! The tech was also very pushy about doing all this stuff. I mean, I love my dog, but at 13 years I don't expect miracles! They should respect that.
