Very long story short:

Took my car in 2x for the same issue (complaint of burning fluid smell.) 1st time they told me it was the weather (?) and the 2nd time they diagnosed my Outback to have a blown head gasket, and the repair will cost $2,500+.

Called around for price comparisons, and it turns out that quote is about $1,000 over the average cost to repair a head gasket. So I took it to another shop.

Total cost of repair: $44.00. Turns out I have a minor oil seepage and the long, fast drive up an incline exasperated the smell I initially complained about. Blown Head Gasket??!!?? not even close.

Please take your vehicle to:

This site limits the number of characters for each review, so I don't have the space to write about every issue I've had with these guys. IMO, it is a mistake to own a Subaru in Las Vegas, since you will need to deal with this service department, no matter how much I like Subaru vehicles. Believe me when I say this is just a sampling of my issues:

* Took my car in with symptoms that when cruising on highway, power to car would drop in and out, giving short jolts or kicks. The "check engine" light was on. They said it was my catalytic converter and replaced ifor $1,600. They reset the "check engine" light. On the way home, I experienced the same symptoms and check engine light was back on, so returned car next day. Now they claim it was a bad fuel injector, which was a $600 repair. When I mentioned I didn't need CC, they said computer said I needed it, even though it was not the cause of the symptoms I requested to be fixed.

* Took my car here for a routine wheel balancing, since I could tell it needed it. I picked up the car after the service dept closed and headed home ($80 for balance and oil change). To my frustration, car was roughly 5 times worse, as far as car shake, etc. Drove it back next morning..They said they could tell it was out of balance, but couldn't seem to get it right. They recommended that I take it to a "specialist" to get the wheels balanced. I picked up the car and took it to another shop in Vegas. 1 hr later, the car was ready and the manager said there was nothing abnormal about balance job and confirmed it was extremely out of balance when I brought it in. Next morning, there was a message on my phone explaining they (dealership) had someone calibrate their balancing machine and wanted me to return to do the balance. I explained I did as recommended and had balance performed by someone else. I then asked to be refunded $40 for the balance. I only got the run around. and promise of coupons, but would not refund money.
