So my friends and I have been going to this bar since the beginning of the summer. Its a great spot to relax with friends and just have a few beers/drinks. The bartenders are great especially andy and rory. Every time we come here, we are always welcomed and never had a disappointment.

BTW they recently started serving food at the bar after 5.
i recommend this place...

Pros: bartenders and food

Short and simple: I don't care if you're Irish and tattoed and you're the owner and you could probably kick my ass with one arm tied behind your back-- you don't treat your customers like crap because you think you're a badass. If you don't like our patronage, ask us to leave. If you don't like our conversation, ignore us. If you can't handle questions about Ireland or the Scottish Premier League, you're in the wrong line of work. Find Valium, take accordingly. I am NEVER going back to this place.

Pros: Selection of scotch is fair

Cons: Bartender/owner a complete douche

.

The Donnybrook is a great local bar with an always friendly crowd. A nice place to work during the afternoon (free wireless) and a long happy hour (from 12pm - 8pm).

The music is usually good and while they have a few televisions they aren't in your face and don't give it a sportsbar feel.

And Anderson - the bartender - is probably the coolest, friendliest, prettiest, and down-to-earth bartender in the city.

Pros: Long Happy Hour & Great Bartender

This bar is fantastic on the weekdays especially for a nice quiet happy hour. The interior is wonderful. Sleek wood slab tables and tons of open windows in nice weather make for a totally relaxed atmosphere.

Weekend crowd is a bit different, it's a tad more "clubby" than the usual alt/indie rock vibe during the week. Free WiFi and the bartenders are great. Warning: Rory will get you far too drunk if you're not careful. When you don't want to deal with the nonsense of Pianos, head here.

Pros: No longer known as Lotus, great interior, sweetheart staff

Cons: Weird DJs on weekends

I was looking for a nice, quiet bar to enjoy a drink and read a book. When I got there I was finishing a conversation on my cell phone as I sat down at the end of the bar. The bartender, a young blond woman, came by to take my order. I put the phone down and asked for a beer. She refused to take my order until I hung up the phone. I then had to wait to order a drink while she left the bar to play on the floor with another patron's dog . When she was finally ready to take my order she went on to tell me that she expects anyone "new to her bar" to talk to her first before she serves them. She was rude and condescending. I am very disappointed by my experience. A bar is not meant to be the bartender's private club house. It isn't appropriate for the bartender expect each customer to have a conversation with her and obtain her approval to be served. It is probably because of the rude employees that this bar was almost empty while other bars in the area were crowded.
