I used to eat quite a lot in this place. Was decent, has always used those very small table, and packed like sardines, but you get even less space now. The food is becoming below average and expensive. I had the steak au poiver, my favorite dish, and always ordered the same. The sauce was terribly salty, no a real peppercorns, tasted old. The piece of meat got much smaller (the dish much more expensive). Even the cosmopolitain I ordered was not right. Used to be a reliable place where you can get a good decent dinner, not anymore. I used to recommend this place, but not anymore, I will never go there ever. There so many other places that provide good food. If you are going to chage $26 for a steak, at least have a good dish. Pros: opens late

Cons: BAD FOOD, BELOW AVERAGE MIXED DRINKS

Despite the charming decor, I found almost everything else missed at Lucky Strike. Visiting with my boyfriend for dinner one Wednesday, we had to yell to hear each other in the dining room due to the overwhelming music, which was a lot of rock and overall irritating - not quite the French experience we were expecting. Upon exiting through the bar, the music was purely deafening.

The food was lackluster. I ordered the spinach and ricotta ravioli. Sounded heavenly, but was totally tasteless and uninspiring with no salad or accoutrements. I could have done better with a box at home and the sauce was tasteless. If not for the bread, I would have left hungry.

The bus boy swept my plate and silverware out from under me when I had barely finished swallowing (not even asking if I was done). That left me with no silverware for when I wanted to share my boyfriend's salad (as I was still hungry). I turned to the silverware container behind my back, and leaning slightly on the table, the table itself capsized with the water and our drinks falling onto the ground. After this embarassing situation (due to a rather unstable table), the waiter didn't offer free refills for our overpriced alcohol which was now all over the floor. An ignoble end to a disappointing experience - we couldn't wait to get out of there.

Well, enough said. Lucky strike is quite the contrary - I'd have been better off if I missed it totally.

Cons: food, service, deafening music

Best late night spot, great drinks, very good pour. It gets a bit crowded here and there, and the menu isn't the most amazing around, but you get the simple yet universal dishes at all hours of the night. The salads are very good, as is the steak frites like at Schiller's. All the food is your standard fare, but done very well. I will be backing this place for a long time...

This is a great go-to staple. I tend to order either the ravioli or the fish, and everything's good. It's not particularly special in terms of cuisine, service, or ambience, but it's always a safe bet in the neighborhood.

Perfect place to hang out with friends and get some good (just good) typical bistro food - DJ on saturday nights is not too shabby - good looking people, too.

One should not go to Lucky Strike for the food. While certain staples are excellent (the burger, some of the pastas), the food is not really the point. Go with a group of friends and you will have a great time. It is the type of place to run into old friends and have a late, raucus dinner.

I had a late dinner at Lucky Stike, a great name for a joint if ever I saw one. Unfortunately, the food was NOT something to get worked up about. Our waiter was fine, the place looks nice in that not-trying-too-hard way, but at those prices, a little more should be expected of your food. Diner food at bistro prices is a bummer....

We happened upon this place purely by accident and were pleased with the results. Other than being a little crowded and a bit overpriced, the atmosphere is filled with energy (and the "beautiful people" of course) and the food was surprising good! I only tried a simple dish of spinach ravioli in a light oil and garlic sauce, but it actually faired better than most NYC Italian joints I've tried similar dishes at. I would definitely go back -- if only for some of those exotic martinis on the blackboard.

Pros: Cute, A scene, Good food

Cons: Crowded, Loud

Lucky Strike is a great casual place to just grab a bite to eat. Yeah the crowd can take it a bit seriously, but it shouldn't. Great food, great decor, great service. I recommend it! Just ignore the trendy wannabes.

As a retired hipster, I can say with some degree of certainty that for the last year Lucky Strike has been the best laid-back late night in the city. The wait staff is pleasant, fun, and for the most part gorgeous (in the wonderful aesthetic beautification way, not in that she's-way-cuter-than-me-that-b@#$* way). The food is yummy, especially their cooked-to-perfection mussels in spicy tomato sauce and their shoestring crispy fries. But the best part about LS is the late night atmosphere, delightfully free of the B&Ts. You can get a completely delish martini in a glass (that's about 2 1/2 drinks) for $8.50 (I recommend the Vanilla Shanty, mmmm!) in a great homey setting with great music. The in-house lady DJ on Saturday nights has outrageously good taste in music, and moreover, takes requests. You can't go wrong with this place.

Still going strong, Lucky Strike has been a perennial favorite of Downtown hipsters since it opened nearly a decade ago. Not much has changed over the years: The floor is still roughly hewn (its unevenness matches that of the service),…
