Like the majority of the people I know, we are always trying to find the best places to get a haircut. One that will cut it the way you want it without you telling them. I cannot say this will be my last place to go because I do love trying new ones out there, what I can say is that I was pretty impressed by the haircut. I??ve always enjoyed their hair products so I figured I??d give this a shot.

I look at the cut, price, and friendliness for an overall rating. I can??t think of anything here that will give this place lower than a 5 in each category (well maybe the price because we all wish it would be more affordable). The location and dcor is amazing. Totally satisfied and plan on recommending this place to my friends as well. If only I could remember the name of the person I saw that would be a great help. Either way, as I looked around I saw lots of people getting really fabulous haircuts. The next time I can afford this place I??m coming here for a haircut.

Everyone knows: you get what you pay for, so I am OK with the cost of Bumble cuts and here's why...

After moving to NYC in 1997, I was referred by a friend to a stylist and salon which I continued to use for more than 7 years happily and loyally. The stylist was not Andrean and the salon was not Bumble & Bumble.

A hair emergency arose (big job interview) four years ago and my go-to stylist was out of town. My wife suggested I try her stylist at Bumble & Bumble and I have been seeing Andrean there ever since.

Recently, a victim of the sinking economy, I lost my job suddenly. The good news is that I managed to line up an interview almost immediately. But, I had a problem: my hair had grown a little too long and shaggy for an important job interview. That's right, Andrean to the rescue again. If I get the job, I know exactly who to thank. Skilled and charming, as long as Andrean remains at Bumble & Bumble, I will remain a customer.

Simply put, she's the best. If you see her and disagree, let me know.

Pros: Bumble Facilities: Gorgeous

Cons: Bumble Costs: Not Cheap

i got my hair cut at the downtown salon and felt my hair was too heavy and needed my layers trimmed. i went back w/in two wks for free redo. my stylist was out so they assigned me to William. he said all he was willing to do was thin it out, cut into it. i let him b/c i had already paid $130 for cut. he cut all the body out and left me w/ thin ratty hair. on the way home i want into another salon where a woman fixed it w/out hestation, but it will take me 6 months or more to get the volume back that he cut out.

This salon is sort of like a factory, while I do love their products, the skill is not worth the price. This location has been notorious for canceling on me and others and the last minute without offering other times. Maybe they don't care about or need their customers. Also, I don't care too much about being coddled when getting my hair done, but here you just feel rushed through everything. I guess if you're desperate, they won't screw up your hair, but there are other places to go.

Pros: they probably won't majorly screw up your hair

Cons: staff, service, skill level...all below average for the price

So I went to Bb to get this so called "amazing cut and color". I guess it was one of those things where if everyone else is I should too. I should have known better. My hair is awful. The color is drab and lacks any shine and my cut was generic. I could have gotten better service at the $10 shop. The stylists are so focused on themselves that they dont pay attention to you. Not to mention I felt like a product on a conveyor belt waiting to be stamped and shipped. They had 4 different people working on me.After I saw my own hair I truly wanted to cry. I looked around and noticed the less then mediocre hair styles on other people being serviced and thought we are all a bunch of suckers. I will never step foot in that place again. I hope this helps in your decision. Don't be fooled or pressured like I was. Thank god hair grows.

No one has a given me as great a cut and styled my hair as lovely. I have thick and wavy hair and find that a lot of stylists think they can get away with just hacking away at my head and can pull it off as "hip" or modern. But Dante took great care in giving me the best cut for my head of hair and really made it feel healthy and great, using minimal product. This new spot is gorgeous, too. Wonderful views while I was getting my cut. I highly recommend him and after just recently getting a cheap cut from a local salon am kicking myself for not shelling out the extra 60 bucks (it was $120 total) to get get quality care for my locks.

I've been meaning to write this months ago and that is how long i have loved my color! My natural color is a dark blonde and i wanted bright hilites but not chunky. Victoria 'painted' me and by watching her, i thought the outcome wouldn't be what i wanted... it was AMAZING! so natural that i couldnt believe myself in the mirror. She is the top colorist and expensive but SO worth it. I just went back in for a 2nd time to see Victoria to get my roots done and could not be happier! Although, I did miss her assistant Matt.... he made my 1st experience so much fun!!!!

I love bumble and bumble (downtown salon) so much. I have long hair and have been their client for 3 years. Mai does color and TOM does my hair cut. I think MAI was born to be a colorist and Tom was born to be hair stylist. They are the best of the best!! they both are very professional and so easy to talk to!
the salon has pretty decent water view which is relaxing. their staffs are very kind and friendly. The cafe has decent coffee and tea. their cookies are sooooo good!! :) :) oh, and I love using BB products that I get from the salon.

I should have read the reviews before I went so please BEWARE of the UPTOWN location. When I left the salon, it looked okay. It wasn't until the next day, that I had washed it and fixed it myself that it ended up being horrendous. I read a review named MULLET and I have to agree with everything. Except for the fact that I did leave the house and went to another salon that charges less than $50 to get her to trim it up and somewhat fix it. I do have to wear my hair in bobby pins and in a ponytail, but it is still a disaster. I went to LISA and she asked me exactly what I wanted and what my morning routine was. Needless to say, I got something of the complete opposite. The other salon that I went to told me that the person that cut my hair was an idiot and she cut in a way that normal people would not be able to style their hair. I will never go back. Just so you know, I walked in with beautiful, healthy, long hair with long layers and walked out with a Mullet and $180 less than when I went in. My hair WAS COMPLETELY BUTCHERED WITH A RAZOR.

Do not go to William--especially if you have long hair.
Too make along story short, my hair was long and slighly layered, it is now above my shoulders to fix his mistake. I was ignored. The photo I brought in was ignored. William was rude and had too much attitude.

I just got back from my first cut and color at Bumble and Bumble (Uptown) and I couldn't be happier. Jodie did my color...and Stevie did my hair. I was disheartened because of the review I read about Stevie. I have long thick VERY curly hair (that I always straighten) and I think it is safe to say that this is the best haircut I have ever had. She did exactly what I had asked her to...and more (and was good about telling me what she was doing). My hair is still long, thick, and the layers are perfect and blended. I can't wait to go back again (they will trim your bangs for free!). Jodie was fabulous too. Totally worth it.

Girls with long, beautiful hair beware. I just went to the uptown location to get a haircut yesterday. They used a razor and gave me this short, choppy, UGLY haircut after showing my hairdresser a picture of Eva Longoria with a long layered look! My hairdresser clearly didnt listen to a word I said. It was the worst hair experience ever!!!

I've been searching for not just a good but a fantastic hairdresser for the last year and Nico is the one!! He took the time to listen to the kind of style I wanted to project through my haircut and delivered that style perfectly. He fixed my previously butchered bangs and showed me not only where I need to grow them out but also a few ways to wear them to keep them fashionably off my face. All of my friends have complimented my newly gorgeous hair. If you want a perfect haircut go to Nico!!!

I went to the uptown salon and it was great. From the moment I walked in, everyone was super friendly. It's a great atmosphere and has a cool vibe. There is a small cafe where you can wait, although the wait was less than a minute. The hair washers were very friendly and talkative - mine even gave me a mini shoulder massage!

My stylist, Roberto, was terrific. I showed him a picture of what I wanted, and he cut and styled my hair to reflect the image in the picture, but tailored it to my particular face shape. My hair looks amazing. Roberto was great and very friendly - the other stylists seemed very nice as well. Everyone, employees and customers appeared very happy. Hair cut was $94, but very, very worth it.

Got my hair cut Ginger and felt that she destroyed my thin hair by only using a razor (very roughly i might add), it was an awful haircut and i felt like she just gave me the same cut she gives all without thinking what is best for my hair. no personal touch and just felt like my hair was abused. never again.

I went to Fiona (also known as MIchelle) -- on a recommendation. I couldn't have gotten a better cut. The place is expensive, no doubt, but I did feel like it was worth it. Great atmosphere and a great cut. I don't know about anyone else there but I would recommend her for a cut.

I wouldn't cut my hair anywhere else in NYC. The House of Bumble's team -especially ERIC- can do no wrong. With clear vision and an edgy persona built into every worker, I never leave disappointed. As a guy, it's impossible to get a different haircut from the norm. Yet under ERIC and the Bumble and Bumble team I have the haircut I've always dreamed about. And the best part? Since the cut is so well done, it grows out really nice and I can wear my hair longer! I rarely go back for months because the haircut only gets better with time.

I've always known I've had good hair, but for some reason I've never had a cut that I just loved...until my friend recommended Josie at Bumble and Bumble. All I can say is WOW! She's amazing! She was really easy going and took the time to listen to what I wanted. I was hesitant about the razor being used on my hair, but she explained exactly how and why she would use it, and she did exactly what she told me she would do. I went to the uptown salon which is definitely a little hectic and noisy, but my cut is growing out beautifully and I've gotten a ton of complements, so overall it was a great experience!

I have used a number of stylists there and have been very pleased with everyone. They are not as rude and inconsiderate as others have made them out to be. They will give a little attitude but as long as you are stern and tell them what you want you will be fine. I have never been bullied into getting a cut/colour that I did not want. Nor have I ever felt the need to splurge on all of the products that they insist I use.

Overall B&B is a top notch experience with a clean space and knowledgeable staff. Great products too?I love their especially the surf spray and hair powder.

Based on my personal experiences at Bumble and Bumble I fully believe that they are the most overvalued, overpriced salon in the City. I found that my local Super Cuts gives me a better cut than Bumble and Bumble. I also found the staff to be extremely rude and unpleasant, in particular Fionna a so-called "Senior Stylist". Avoid her!!!

i recently got my haircut at the bumble and bumble down town salon. iwas wowed by the space but the stylist i had took the cake. sarah was professional, yet funny and very cool. i was originally really worried to get cut, but she put me at ease ans listened to what i wanted. we ended up with a haircut that was exasctly what we talked about. she showed me diffrent ways of styling and recommended products to use. she was awsome. by far the best expierence i have ever had at a salon. she has a great eye....make sure to book with her....she is worth way more than the 100 bucks she charges. im never going to anyone else ever again. :)

I highly recommend Bumble and Bumble to anyone who needs a haircut. I went there the first time I decided to get a drastic style makeover, afraid of what the end result was. It was fabulous. SInce my first haircut a year ago, this is the only place I trust. I've 4 haircuts since then and have loved each one. They really tailor each haircut to the individual, there is no "cookie cutter" cut. each session starts with the typical q + a, how often do you wash, lifestyle, how much time are you willing to spend, etc. don't be afraid to ask questions are object, during the haircut. they're very understanding about your input and will cut the hair how you want. last time, i hated how my bangs the initial cut. even after they were blowdried, i hated them. the stylist gladly recut them, until i was satisfied. also their products are the best. the products they use when they cut and style your hair are amazing and gives your hair killer style. plus, the lounge/ cafe area were you wait is really nice. the windows are open and you get a great view of the city. i love the super comfy chairs and sofas too. don't forget to pick up your complimentary drink- i recommend the tea of the day. // my favorite stylist is HEATHER. ask for her, she's the best.

Pros: end result: HARCUT, friendliness, helpfulness, service, free drink!, cafe, pristine facility

Cons: 1+ hour for my long razor haircut (i have alot of hair, but the time was worth it)

This salon is not worth your time or money. If you want a good cut, go to Frederick Fekkai. FF makes B&B look like white trash. The girls are flaky, inconsiderate, and self-absorbed. I think they spend more time choosing their outfits in the morning than they do learning how to cut hair. DO NOT GO TO KORINNA. SHE IS AWFUL. My hair looked EXACTLY the same as when I came in. At least she didn't screw it up, but I left with split ends. When I pointed them out to her, she gave me the dumb airhead look and snipped a few pieces and was like ta da! But once again, it looked exactly the same. Honestly, after reading other reviews, I must say I agree. I wish I would have read them before I went. A scene at a salon DOES NOT mean good cuts. Trust me. Frederick Fekkai does not create such a trendy environment, but for $15 more you can get some ORGINAL, CREATIVE work. In fact, I thought I had the best cut in the B&B salon, even over those trendy stylists. Repeat: DO NOT GO TO KORINNA. If you do go, try someone else. She is extremely rude and inconsiderate, as well as untalented.

I have to say...I had the best haircut of my life from B&B (stylist was Sydney). Not only did it look great the day of, but it just got better over the next 2 weeks. I brought in pictures...she was able to give me exactly the cut I had in mind, but in a way that was best for my face frame and lifestyle. My blowouts since then have been flawless.

I will say $95 plus tip for a haircut is pretty steep....but its par for the course in New York City. I wish their prices were a tad lower, but with such great results, I can't complain too loudly.

My advice: get your "major" haircuts at B&B and get your trims elsewhere.

I started going to Bumble about 5 years ago and got hooked. They gave me a cut that had plenty of attitude, but also a good structure, so that it grew out nicely, and didn't need constant upkeep. The beautiful space, complimentary tea or coffee, and great shampoos make your experience relaxing and luxurious. However, over the years I feel that Bumble has toned down it's once edgy style - perhaps because more conservative clients now go there, and get freaked if the stylist starts whisking away with the razor blade. So, I left Bumble and started going to a little Japanese place where they're not afraid to give me a more unique cut, and at half the price! (Kiwa Salon on 27th for those who want to know!)

MULLET I think that says it all. I walked in with beautiful, healthy, long hair with long layers and walked out with a flipping BUSINESS IN THE FRONT/PARTY IN THE BACK mockery of a hair cut. somewhere between joan jett from the 80's, aniston from '93 and cool hockey dudes back in the early 90's. my hair WAS COMPLETELY BUTCHERED WITH THAT FLIPPING RAZOR BS. I am afraid to leave the house and probalby haven't cried this hard since I broke up with my last looser boyfriend. THE ONLY WAY TO KEEP THE SHROOM DOWN IS TO USE AT LEAST 10 DIFFERENT BOBBY PINS IN DIFFERENT SPOTS ON THE SIDES!!! my ends are completely fried and I ahve no idea what to do w/this sh_t!! I have to say I thought writing this review would make me feel better but the only thing that would really make me feel better is to have my hair back and baring some miracle it's going to take at least 2 years to get the length back - not to say I don't have a few whispy strands that are still long but of course it woudn't be a mullet w/out those. I work in the fricking beauty industry for crying out loud. look whoever reads this, I have heard that this is a good place to go if you have or want short shaggy cuts but if you have long hair, seriously heed this warning, and only go if you really hate having long fabulous hair and would prefer a butchered, out of date, mullet disaster

Their space is great and the stylist was nice, but it all comes down to how you look when you leave the place, and I looked exactly the same as when I came in, only $100 lighter. I wouldn't go back there. There are plenty of other places you could waste that much money for a modest trim.

I highly recommend coming here if you are looking for a style change- they are great at providing individualized cuts to your specific face/head shape, hair texture, lifestyle, maintenance preference, personality, etc. I've seen Coby and Tom for cuts, and Victoria for color. Each time I left extremely satisfied with their services. Also, check out their great product line- I don't know where I'd be without their grooming creme...seriously

DON'T GO TO KATE!!! I got my hair cut at Bumble and Bumble after a friend of mine recommended it. Other stylists may be better, but my experience with Kate was the worst I have ever had at a salon! I specifically asked her not to cut bangs because bangs require styling, and I have to be at work too early in the morning to always dry my hair. She was in such a rush that she did not take the time to listen to what I had to say and for some reason decided to cut them anyway. As she was cutting, I told her that she was taking off too much -however she did not seem to care and did not stop because her next customer was there. After eight minutes (I am not exaggerating!) of chop chopping she moved onto the other customer. After someone else dried my hair, she passed me, and I mentioned to her that I was upset about the bangs. She said, "Well, I thought you wanted a cut that looks good. They will grow out, and next time if you want-- you can see someone else". This really happened!!! Am I dreaming???
IF YOU WANT TO BE LISTENED TO, PLEASE DON'T GO TO KATE!!!

The cut was adequate, but beware: 1) The salon sells its own hair products, which it shamelessly pushes on clients. Three different gels, sprays, or lotions were used to style my usually wash and wear hair, giving it the texture of straw. 2) The assistant was left alone to style my hair, and the combination of excessive product use and his inexperience left me looking like a shaggy mushroom. When I expressed my dissatisfaction, the stylist "disagreed," and would not re-style it. Finally, I had my hair re-washed and left with wet hair. When I checked out, the clerk innocently asked whether I wanted to purchase any products, as if it were completely normal that a client would walk out with a dripping wet head. I am accustomed to paying a lot for a good haircut, but I expect quality and service for that price, and both were severely lacking.

Went to Stebie recommended by receptionist & b/c she was often off-site at fashion shows and events, felt comfortable putting my hair in her hands. I spent mos growing hair out from bad, chopy cut at Cutler Salon. Told her I wanted long layers and how wanted my hair to fall, but she chop, chopped away as if robot with knowledge of one type of cut and gave me same cut (only worse) that I had just grown out. She interrupted my cut 3 times to give previous clients bang trims--with no explanation as to why she was leaving me sitting there in the middle of my cut. I might give B&B another try b/c I know they're respected but I'm hesitant b/c owner of Cutler came from B&B and since got a similar cut, I'm wondering if that's all they are trained to do.

I've been going to B+B for years. My stylist Nancy is very talented, she reliably gives me a great cut. She charges $110, which for popular NYC salons isn't bad. I also like their products and use them regularly. The staff is generally friendly and hospitable. But I stopped going there for color after the colorist gave my brown hair "highlights" that can only be described as orange -- three times in a row! Each time he fixed it, but then he'd do it again. So now for color I use Louis Licari.

Look, i do not get a haircut to feel like "queen for a day." I want the haircut I want, and to have it cut well so it looks good and grows out nicely. That all really depends on the stylist, not the salon. At every salon you take a chance when you walk in and take whoever's available. Mossimo at B & B is very skilled and does amazing haircuts that grow out beautifully. It costs $100 but it always costs about that much for good women's haircuts in NYC, give or take a few bucks. As far as the salon, the people are perfectly nice -- they treated me like a customer in for a haircut, which is what I was. The salon environment was perfectly comfortable. As I said, a great stylist is worth keeping, and I recommend Mossimo very highly.

I was surprised, reading some of these reviews after my experience today. I was ushered in and shown around by the courteous front desk, given my robe and changing room by a genuinely friendly chick, offered a complimentary coffee drink or tea, and then brought upstairs for color. Celia was efficient and friendly, and clearly understood what I needed. I was offered refreshments again several times and the assistants always appeared on time for each step of my service. I left relaxed and with a gorgeous color. No attitude to speak of. Well worth every dime.

People do rave about this place. It's not bad, place is very modern. I got a typical haircut, which does look nice, but was 85 bucks. For a men's cut that's pretty high considering I didn't have much done to it. I received no love with the massage after the hair wash either, I was in and out in 5 mins....mainly b/c they forgot I was there.

I won't rank em off the list this one time around...they'll get another shot.

If you are lookin for your old school type barber shop, this ain't it kiddo's.

I've been to a slew of high end salons (except for Fekkai and the other top tier $$$$ ones) and I have to say that this is my BEST by far. Some say this is like a chop shop, where they cattle you in and out, but I simply do not mind that at all. I'm 23 and not in need of some prissy service. I come to get great stylish cuts for under $100, and this fits the bill. Amazing skilled layered cuts, beautiful interior, and they treat you right.

My hair finally looks great! I had dyed blonde hair that looked fake and had turned orange. I had been to many salons on Madison and Fifth Avenue for a color correction and nobody could help. I was actually told by a colorist at Frederic Fekkai during a consultation that if I wanted to change my color to not even come to him. Discouraged, I went to my consultation at Bumble & Bumble and found wonderful Michelle. She took the time to explain to me what she could do and the next day made my hair color even, natural, shiny, and my hair was softer than it had been in months! Her assistant, Tzipi, is also great. They were both very sweet and made me feel cared for and comfortable. I will continue going to Michelle for my hair color.

B&B is legendary as far as salons go. However, it's not as good as the reputation that precedes it. Cool facility, better products, horribly unattentive staff, adequate haircuts and horrendous prices. Everyone should experience it once. I moved onto a much better option--Cutler Salon, just a couple blocks up.

In one word this place is a JOKE! The staff has an poor attitude that is equal to the poor service! I have never been near a bunch of people who felt that working at a trendy??? salon meant that they were better than the rest of the world. I was not treated well at all and the appointment was very impersonal! The old "word of mouth" expression definitely applies here. I am going to tell everyone I know to stay clear of this place!!!!

First of all they treat you like they are doing you a favor by charging $400 for a cut and style. Have they missed the point that their customers pay the rent and their overinflated salaries. I can get a better cut for $20, not to mention overpriced products and "services." I can't think of one reason to ever return.

I got my haircut in a upscale salon in Denver a few years ago. When the stylist found out I was from New York asked "Hey have you ever been to Bumble and Bumble?" I said no, but I would like to try it. Well I did last night, for a consultation. From the moment I entered the salon to the moment I left (which I wanted to do pretty quickly) there was an air of attitude!!! The stylist who I had the consultation with was not focused on what I was saying and acted like I was wasting his time. Then he gave me a quote (more than some car payments)!! To be honest if this is any indication of how the actual appointment to get my haircut is, I would rather spend my time at a sample sale spending my money on a great Prada bag!

OK - I did get a good haircut, but the whole experience was so impersonal. Plus, when they are charging the prices they do, you should not have to pay for coat check or coffee. No matter what time your appointment is, they always tell you to wait back at the cafe, where you pay $3.50 for a coffee + tips, and another $1-2 if you want to check in your coat. Then you have one shampooer, another person cutting your hair. There staff have too much attitude, it feels like you are just pushed along an assembly line.

Great products and that's about it. I foolishly went there for a year - thinking that's just the way service is in New York. WRONG! Everytime I came in, the lady who cut my hair acted like she had never seen me before, I had to answer the same boring questions every time, and the haircut I received was progressively worse after every visit.

As a first time visitor, you will feel completely clueless about where to go, what to do, and noone is friendly in helping you get to where you need to be.

Save your time and money and go to better salon such as Warren Tricomi, or Riccardo Magiorre - better service with no attitude.

I recently had my hair trimmed by Josie, who's a "junior level" stylist. However, don't be mislead by the salon's ranking system --This stylist knows her stuff and is a true professional. She does what you ask. The cut was reasonably priced at $75 and I was very pleased by the results.

Just came back from a fantastic experience getting my hair cut with Ron - he gave me an incredibly versatile razor bob kind of thing that seems to also be the kind of technically outstanding haircut that always grows out great. If you're looking for a great razor cut you will love him.
