Found Epic Models on craigslist for retouching photo work. We worked out a rate per photo which was satisfactory for me, and actually semi-lucrative. Some of the models looked like they had a chance, others had some seriously terrible skin and/or features, or were too old. Anyway, it was quite difficult to get paid on two occasions, one by personal check written by her husband she said, the second by paypal. The third payment kept getting stalled, and she kept saying she was gonna pay, and then didn't. After a few months, she said she had been ill, and said, let's get working again, and I said sure once you pay me the outstanding balance, and that was the end of it. They owe me about $300, but that's showbiz, folks. I can't imagine dealing with them as a model. Seems like it would be seriously grim. They're still using work I did for them on their website that they never paid me for.

They seem quite clueless really. All they're doing is building a massive reputation online as frauds.

They owe a lot of models a lot of money and have disconnected several phone lines and have moved their agency a few times. They will not respond to any of my emails at this point. They are a big scam and a big rip off. Don't even think of giving them any of your money or any of your time. I will be taking them to court. If anyone else would like to join me, I'm putting together a class action lawsuit. Don't get scammed. Oh, and I'd bet all the money they owe me, that the one 5 star rating review was written by Darlene, the lady who runs this. I can't imagine that anyone would have a good experience with them after everyone I've spoken to that they owe money to.

A very disorganized and very low budget ??agency? that no one serious in the business has every heard of. I agree with the ??Epic Waste of Money?. Do your homework, you won??t find them listed even in the top 500 agencies and the complaints are growing. Avoid at all costs.

Great Agency, I came into New York set up with model housing and booked the second week. Housing was great and bookers were always on top of everything. Darlene and Jonathon were very helpful and I was well taken care of. I made all my expenses and more and the other models were great. Boutique Agency so we got more attention. Works with models all over the country and they all love Epic.

This is a terrible agency. They go by the names ??Epic Models New York? ??Epic Model Management? ??Epic Entertainment Group? ??Epic Branding and PR? and ??EEG Productions?. This is run by Darlene Josephine, otherwise known as Darlene Damalerio and is a very low budget agency that is run pretty much exclusively by Darlene and her two sons. Don??t get fooled by the Park Avenue address - this is office space that is rented by the hour to impress people.

This is an agency that appears to have the models and actors as their primary source of income. They mainly pull in models from other parts of the country, require rent to be paid 3 months up front with the place unseen and then severely overcharge for services not delivered. Even if the model does end up doing any paid work, the model is unlikely to see any money from it with excuse after excuse ranging from ??That job was promotional? to ??The client hasn??t paid us for that yet? months later.

Darlene has said that she prefers to work with models that are not local to the area and ??being developed?. After receiving the 3 months rent and damage deposit for the places sight unseen ($4000), Epic packs the models into tiny apartments, sometimes without kitchen facilities. They expect shared beds and are collecting twice the actual rent with the expectation that the models leave, surrendering the deposit and remaining rent. If you search on the phone number listed on the Epic Models web page, which is actually Darlene??s cell phone number, you can find real estate listing for apartments for rent (http://www.leasebuyoption.com/detail.asp?ID=1915) with Darlene as the real estate agent.

The next trick that Epic is going to pull is to require the model to have their portfolio updated. They will arrange for the model to have an expensive photo shoot ($700), then a complete set of prints ($200), most of them touched up ($300), an Epic portfolio ($100) and a set of comp cards ($250). They may even request that the model have a second set of prints produced for the office ?? the one they rent by the hour. The payment for this is required up front and there will be excuse after excuse why the photos and books are late many never delivered.

The next thing that won??t happen is the castings. The models get sent on a very limited number of castings - often less than 1 per week - and when they do, they often end up going with temporary comp cards printed from the model??s printer and no portfolio. The objective appears not to get the model work but instead have them leave frustrated to get another model in and a collect a new tidy $5500 sum.

If a casting does result in successful work, the chances of you receiving an actual payment from Epic are low. There will be excuse after excuse ranging from claims that the job was ??promotional? even though a voucher was signed to claims that the client is not paying even though the work was done months earlier.

People who run scams are getting more and more clever as people become more cautious. Even if it is the only option, working with Epic is not a good choice. Everyone will just end up feeling ripped off and scammed with a great deal of hard earned money gone with nothing to show for it. This is just not an organization that you want to be associated with.
