I briefly worked here several months ago. I was getting compliments daily from customers on the good work in which I preformed. The woman who owns the salon was to give me my work schedule by phone, weekly. For two weeks I contacted her by phone and she still didn't return any of my calls. After I repeatedly left her messages, she texts me said "I'm fired", without any notice. I replied saying she could have told me two weeks ago and that the manner in which she handled the situation was extremely unprofessional. She replied saying, "I fire people like you all the time...", generally disregarding the respect principle as a business owner to at least give an employee a weeks notice, nevertheless, a notice. She continued to insult me and boasted about her other business' she owns, and how she has no time to respond to me. As a college student studying Business Administration and also through my previous experiences interning in major Retail Management companies such as Target, as a Executive Manager, I was never taught that this is an appropriate way to communicate and to handle business. The way this boss interacts with the employees will ultimately reflect on the customers negatively. For that, I wouldn't recommend P.P. In addition, the prices are too high for the quality of work. You can get a manicure and pedicure at West 8th st and 7th for $21, with a massaging chair.

Cons: Unprofessional management

I'm really disappointed to see that some people didn't have a great experience at perfectly polished. From the products use, to the practice of services, to the clean and comfy environment, I don't know what there is not to like. From person experience the staff always tries to make you feel comfortable and satisfied with your service. They are not intimidating and open to feedback and ideas. I think in these economic times, we should be supporting the small business owner.

Pros: the store smell delicious, great staff, and free martini's

Cons: A little expensive compared to the regular corner nail salon

I really want to like Perfectly Polished. The location is convenient and the salon is spotless. I also like that all implements come in pre-sterilized packets and are not re-used on other customers. But for the price, I can't really recommend the salon. You get the same attention to detail as salons charging half the price. The place was empty with 3 idle technicians yet no one seemed particularly interested that I'd walked in the door. The service can't compared to Jin Soon in the East Village which also charges $30 for a pedicure. But at Jin Soon you get customized scents, green tea hot/iced, and a pedicure that takes about an hour with real attention to detail. At Perfectly Polised I got mani/pedi and was in/out in an hour so you understand the level of detail paid. Its not horrible, but definitely not worth the price and lazy customer service leaves you feeling disappointed and slightly ripped off.

Pros: Very clean

Cons: High price and lack of energy

I went to the salon on July 10, 2008 and arrived about 7:20pm. Asked if it was too late for a mani/pedi/eyebrow waxing, I was told no. The technician servicing me barely looked at me and she did not ask what type of pedicure I wanted. I asked about the callous remover advertised online to be included with "all pedicures" the receptionist told me I must have read it wrong and gave me a brochure. I read the brochure and it said "All pedicures include our Signature Callous Remover Treatment." I showed this to the receptionist she told me that it was a typo and should read that it's included with all "Signature" pedicures, not the basic. Most establishments will give you a product or service at the advertised specifications, especially when it is there error, but not this one. I was told I could have the treatment for an additional $7.00. The receptionist said she would inform the manager of the typo I pointed out. I added the treatment to my services, but was not impressed, nor did I feel "pampered" by my technician. Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings are "Happy Hour" but I was only offered a drink after two other ladies came in for pedicures (they appeared to be regulars and were immediately offered martinis). When I went in for my eyebrow wax, another technician escorted me into a room. When she was done she left the room ahead of me and turned OFF the lights before I could exit the room. I was very disappointed in my services and expected more for the price and advertisement presented. I considered treating my 10 year old daughter and her friends to this pretty spa experience, but will definitely not take them nor myself back to this establishment. After leaving Perfectly Polished I felt slighted, rushed and overlooked.

Pros: Pretty decor

Cons: Mis-advertisement, un-friendly technicians

In a neighborhood newly awash in cheap mani-pedi places where service is unfriendly, cleanliness is questionable, and only perfunctory attention is paid to quality of service, Perfectly Polished is a breath of fresh air. It boasts a fun, pretty atmosphere and a visible commitment to keeping stations and instruments sanitary. Its aestheticians smile and make conversation (or not, if you're more into reading the latest issue of InTouch), and its owner is on-site and caring.

My manicure and pedicure were top notch (no small feat for the first pedi of the summer season!) and I left smelling delicious! I will most certainly return for Perfectly Polished's Happy Hour, held Thursday-Saturday evenings, with girlfriends in tow.

In short, Perfectly Polished is a much needed addition to lower Atlantic Avenue. Here's hoping they stick around for a good long while!
