My neice and I had lunch there just this afternoon. It was a nightmare!!! The food was awful, starting with the salsa, which tasted like watered down, heated up, catsup! The green sauce tasted like a lot of mayo mixed in with a little

RUN don't walk to this place. It rocks. We love to cheep happy hour with caviar ambiance. The place is sexy, light and not stuffy, perfect for families or a first time date. The prices are reasonable and I have to say the food the BEST, I

We absolutely love the food at El Toro. We have dined there several times since the Westheimer location opened. We were there again tonight and the staff was overwhelmed with a party of 36 on Sunday evening at 7:00. \r

We live nearby and since this restaurant opened a few weeks ago (right next to Rioja) we have noticed that it is very busy. So we visited today for lunch and were very impressed. The quality of the Tex-Mex on the west side is not great, but now we have a go-to that we don't have to drive far to get to.

The queso (menu item) was creamy and delicious with a few floating grilled onions and both pickled and thinly sliced fresh jalapenos served on the side. The chips are of the thin and crispy kind, which are my favorite, and are cut in a convenient rectangle shape for dipping. The red sauce is pureed and is a thick and spicy concoction that clings to the chip. Green sauce is also served with the traditional free chips, a Texas birthright.

I ordered the Pollo Loco a dish with 3 chicken items: flauta (flour tortilla), fajita chicken taco, and a sour cream chicken enchilada, with queso, sour cream, guac and pico on the side, along with creamy refrieds and the necessary yellow rice. All very tasty for $9.95! Had to package some of it up. The others with me also reported their meals were well prepared.

In addition to the usual Tex-Mex, they offer fish dishes, steaks, even lobster. We will be heading back to try out some of these dishes at dinner, and to try their margaritas, which appear to be popular on Friday nights in the bar in the back! The decor is modern, cool and cozy at once. No sombreros hanging on the walls here.

Pros: Good food, good service, great relaxing decor

Cons: Far West Houston is only far if you don't live nearby!
